  1. Yeah my mate uses the guitar version in his band too (I think just because Greg Ginn from Black Flag did) and he was thinking along similar lines...
  2. Bump - just noticed theres a hairline crack in the surface of the pickguard, about 15mm long near the tone control. Not noticed it before. Still a seriously gorgeous bass, and quite rare...
  3. Forgot to say I have the hardwood thumbrest, just took it off as I found it gets in the way.
  4. This is one beautiful bass but times are hard, I could do with the money to learn to drive and this one rarely gets played... This is the re-issue model (made in Japan) of the Plexi-glass original used by Bill Wyman, Geezer Butler etc. back in the late 60's/early 70's. 24 frets, low action, comes in a lush chequered tolex covered, purple velvet lined, lockable case. Includes the additional pickup and truss-rod key Its in excellent condition. Looking for £550, offers considered.
  5. Some interest, but this one's still up for grabs. Fender for Squier cash
  6. Got a blue CV Precision and love it. True about the pickups though - I put an American Fender one and decent CTS pots in mine and its loads better (mainly because I prefer a trebley sound).
  7. Very similar neck shape to my CV P - sort of mid-fatness i guess. Thanks for the interest though, guess everyone's skint at the moment...
  8. Its 42mm at the nut. I dont have any scales but my Classic Vibe Precision is 8lbs aparrently and its much lighter than that.

  10. I'm not sure! It was on there when I got it but it does look like some sort of upgrade similar to the 'Badass' types. You can move the saddles along a dovetail type arrangement.
  11. Hi all - having a bit of a pre-moving house clearout. I cant justify having two p-basses so this fella needs to go... Its a made in Japan P - (serial no. dates it between 1983-87) it has a lightweight and more rounded body than the the traditional shape, also with no pickguard. Wiring is in a cavity in the back. It has matching body and headstock, but the body has been refinished. Its not the best job in the world and and is fairly chipped, scratched and loved (or 'roadworn' if you like)! The neck/headstock is in much better condition than the body and I've played a fair few gigs with it and its been great. Im after £225 including a strap and hardcase. I'm not really into posting this, I'd much rather anyone come round and have a look and a play to make sure its totally what they're after - I'm in Plymouth, Devon. Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask...
  12. Nice one - I might give this ago. In a way, didn't see the point in having a 500W amp if the distortion kicks in at such low gain. Not that I don't like the sound... I also wondered if the valve swap affects the actual tone, or there's any others that may be worth a try? I love my amp, but the only bad point (apart from the gain as discussed) is it's so bloody bassy! I can get the sound I want, but with the treble almost full up and bass backed right off.
  13. Cool, thanks. Right, where's me soldering iron...
  14. Ok, cheers - do I swap 'em round on both pots then?
