Chorus Pedal

i love my old ibanez CS-9... nothing over the top sounds wise, but a fantastic chorus, sounds great after a fuzz too
  2. Joe that really is remarkably neat and tidy for you!! very nice!
  3.
I really like your sound, Gaz.
cheers man, really happy with how it all came out - lots of dirt pedals
  4.
Really love it man, and your influences section mentions quite a few of my fave bands Let me know when I can get hold of the EP! Would like to hear the rest.
cool - cheers! hopefully we'll have the EP up in a month or so, just waiting on artwork
  5. Hey all, been in the studio for the week, and finished a 5 track EP - a couple of tracks are up on our myspace page, be interested to hear what people think... Von Bartha
  6.
Point I was making - if you don't know what pick up is in it - it might already be a Wizard OK not likely but _ _ _ _ _
But how do you find out what pickups you have in your bass if they’re not stock?? I imagine it’s nigh on impossible…
  7.
Well for a start - if it don't look like mine pictured - I'd be asking questions I wouldn't want to spend out on a Wizard or other until you know exactly what you've got. I've had a wanted ad going for a week or so, I'm thinking of fitting a DiMarzio DP127 White to mine, (just because I fancy it), but I'd certainly keep the original.
hmmm, after looking at the pcikups closely on yours, they have raised, beveled pole pieces, the pickups on mine seem to be flat/flush to the casing... defintely not the same as yours. they don't sound bad, they sound very good, just i'd rather the more growly tone on the 64 i played. it was second hand, so no reason that the pickups hadn't been changed in the previous 5 years...
  8.
Mine's 2009 neck date, worth checking it's the original?
cheers - but not sure what you mean... check the pickup is original - how would i do that?
  9.
I`d e-mail Fender and ask them exactly what pickup they use in that model, and once I knew, contact a good Fender stockist, and ask them to order one in. Although, from what I`ve read, Andy at Wizard is very good at replicating pickups, so that may be an easier, and less expensive route.
yeah, been thinking of emailing fender. i've emailed mansons to ask if they could get the pickups, as they ordered the bass as a custom spec i think, no response yet
  10.
What strings are you using & hasn't your AV'57 pick up got raised pole pieces under the A string?
not sure what strings are on it right now, any recommendations (been happily using ddarios on my JV)? and no, the pole pieces are all flat - i took the neck off to see the age and it's a 2005, don't know if there was a period the poles were flat, or not??
  11. So I got myself a new (well, second hand) bass this week, a Fender AV57 reissue. I love the bass, it plays really well. When I bought the bass I also tried a ’64 custom shop P bass (still on the Mansons website, Lake Placid Blue, awesome bass) – and the tone of this bass was amazing (but so was the price!). It didn’t sound too different from my AV57, but it had a real growl to it. I’ve heard people talk about a growly sound from a P-bass before but this was the first time I’d really ever heard it, and it’s the sound I want! So, I’m wondering what the best pickups would be to replace the stock fenders to try for a more growly tone? The pickups on the ’64 were (I imagine) Fender custom shop, and had raised pole pieces, which were bevelled. There are custom shop jazz pickups on the fender site, but no precisions. Any recommendations would be helpful… I’ve not contacted fender direct, but I imagine they wouldn’t supply these pickups individually??
  12.
That's a really smart PT mini. I'm interested to see what you think of the Wren & Cuff pedals. I have the old dark green pickle pie B and still love it, but the new ones look very tasty on the website.
cheers - will hopefully give them a proper try out this weekend. The new W&C pedals look ace, i was tempted by the pickle pie... also a bit gutted he announced the tall font russian about 5 days after my tri pie shipped
  13. so after a couple of hours at mansons this morning, I ended up coming home with a v.nice (2nd hand) AV57 (the white blonde)... and i'm very happy... i also tried a couple of the custom shop basses they had whilst i was there (a 64 and a 57) and have to say they both sounded amazing, had a bit of growl to them that the AV57 didn't (but i couldn't manage the £1,500 difference in price!!). i don't think fender sell custom shop P-pickups, which is a damn shame. they sounded incredible!!
  14.
They finally arrived then? You'll have to let us know how that Phat Phuk is. Im on the lookout for a new 'always on' overdrive, and thats on my list. Ironically, im also looking at the BB Preamp too. Are you using it more as a mild distortion then with the Phat Phuk on the board too?
yeah, they got in over the weekend... only been able to try the 2 wren and cuffs on my little practise amp, so can't really comment yet - tri pie does sound wicked though i got the BB to replace my old bassdrive, wanted something a bit smaller, with a better EQ, and the BB does that. i use it for a realtively low gain o/d, and the plan for the phat B is to use for slightly gritty boosts in chorus/outro parts of songs, or to boost into the BB (this just adds more saturation to the distortion, so seems to work well for boosting the BB) hopefully get my re-valved amp back this weekend so i can give 'em a proper try, will let you know. can't recommend the BB enough though, it's awesome. the phat B is 99% clean through a little s/s prac amp, hoping it'll come alive in front of my valve amp!
  15. Here's my current board: TU-2 > Wren & Cuff Phat Phuk B > Xotic BB Bass Preamp > Wren & Cuff Tri Pie 70 > Maxon AD9-Pro really liking this, though not had a chance to try the phat phuk B into my tube amp yet so we'll have to see how that sounds. Tri Pie 70 is the best muff i've ever used - awesome fuzz! Sorry for the rubbish camera phone pic, you can't see the naughty lady drawing on the fuzz pedal that clearly
  16.
That's twice the price of a ODB-3!!! Ibanez has gone insane! I'll wait till they start showing on fleabay for £50...
..but ODB's are horrible little things! Seems fair, as it's (to me) going up against pedals like the fulltone bassdrive and xotic BB preamp, all tubescreamer clones, and the ibanez will probably work out cheaper than either.... won't get one myself, I HATE the footswitches on these pedals. love the sound of my maxon delay (same casing as this pedal), but it's quite possible playing live to step on the thing at the wrong angle and nothing happen....
  17. Hey folks, hoping someone can clarify! Was looking online and AV series P basses are close to £1700. Coda are doing custom shop P basses for only £100 more than this... I'm after a nice P bass but nowhere in bristol stocks these so i'm gonna head down to mansons soon, but my question is- has anyone compared these 2 series? I would have guessed the custom shop P was thr daddy, but for the sake of £100 extra who'd have an AV over a custom?!?
  18. Hey folks, just a quickie, not bought from uncle Sam in a while... How long does it take for the tracking codes from the USPS to show up on their system?? Pedals were dispatched friday, i'm told, but nothing on USPS yet, it this normal? I guess it's only the next working day as it's been the weekend? Being impatient, i want my pedals!!!

    Too much fuzz?

There is a blend with the wren and cuff pickle pie B, that shouldd be worth a look!
  20.
ok it may have been done here i dont know but saw an interesting thread elsewhere about settings on Bass Big Muff & other Muff's so lets see your settings.. mine are is very minimal i just like a bit of colour; Bass Big Muff Pi (green) VOL=11;30 TONE=7;30 SUSTAIN=8;00 SWITCH=normal
mine will most likely be redundant once the Tri Pie 70 arrives, but for now I'm using mine: vol = 12 tone = 11.30 sustain = 3.00 normal mode - sounds immense with my OC-2 in front of it
  21.
Nice! Ive had an eye on the Phat Phuk B recently too, you'll have to let us know how it is when it arrives. The soundclips on the website dont do it much justice, but ive heard some good things over on Talkbass.
will do - i'm off to africa for a few weeks but no doubt the pedals won't have cleared customs before i get back! yeah, it was the talkbass comments that swayed me, was also looking at the dark driving, the RC boost and the devi ever dark boost (until i borrowed one for the weekend!!!!) fuzz buying was trickier - I didn't realise just how many folks were making nice sounding muff clones these days! lots to choose from..
  22. dead excited... just ordered a couple of pedals from Matt at Wren and Cuff - Tri Pie 70 and Phat Phuk B! Hoping they're gonna work well with my BB Preamp (and put the GAS on hold for a long time!!)
  23.
Late 70s Bassman 135 all valve Fender is what I use mostly. Hybrid valve/ss Hartke 3500 works well too. Both are relatively cheap for what you get.
+1 on the bassman, love mine. from my experience, these amps work veeeeery nicely with all sorts of pedals
  24.
Thanks for all the replies so far. Two added complications for you - Firstly I wouldn't want to spend more than £150 second hand on a pedal and secondly I'm not sure overdrive would suit what we do. Remember we fit in with Americana / Alt.folk so I'm looking at subtle embellishments rather than transforming a tone. Please do keep them coming. I've googled playing videos of the suggestions so far and there are no bad ideas at the moment.
i know what you mean, i play a P bass into a bassman and love the tone. i would have suggested o/d myself, but not distortion as such, just a very slightly edgy drive. i use an xotic BB preamp, which replaced my bassdrive, to add the tiniest amount of grit, still keeps a nice bassy-sond. secondhand they're in budget, but failing that any good dirty boost would do the job nicely.. if you're not after dirt, maybe a very subtle phaser, nice little 2-stage like the phase 45, could give a subtle colouration to your tone??
  25.
Well then you'd have to plug in patch cables and power cables every time.
one patch cable and a PSU!!! not trying to be unhelpful... i've never seen a board designed for 2 pedals though, quite surprised pedaltrain went as small as they did with a nano. i'd say get the slightly bigger board, you're bound to get a 3rd pedal in the future - who of us on here has settled on the same pedal configuration for more than a few months!!!
