I went on a bit of a phaser quest a while back. really quite liked the phase 100, but for me, an old boss PH1-r was search over. slight volume boost, and it does a good 'chewy' phase, without being too aggressive. also, main reason i fell for it was it works so well sat in front of a fuzz.much better to my ears than the ibanez, maxon, mxr and ehx phasers I tried. they are a bit on the pricey side when they appear on ebay, but really worth it i think. resonance control can dial in everything from subtle to pretty full on, but it is not harsh sounding, and get almost get a bit 'filtery' at times. i quite like it, it probably shows!

here you go: http://www.prymaxevintage.com/iron-ether-nimbus-bass-reverb/ $30 off cost at the top of the page, so just $169 - bargain!

i can recommend prymaxe, who almost always have 10% off or similar deals...

cheers ... never had an original tall font myself, so can't comment i'm afraid. W&C tall font is a great fuzz, huge low end too
Encore P copy.
same here, but only as I'm comparing it to far nicer (and more expensive) basses bought subsequently...

nice little setup - though I think I'd miss having no fuzz got an RE-20 space echo coming in the post tomorrow - exciting times!
-
cheers - and i used to be with you on the tuner at the start... but I like the fact the tuner at the end of the chain totally mutes everything when you engage it - stepping on the tuner when it's at the front (if, say, a fuzz is still on) leads to a fair bit of hum or noise still coming through the amp. I only have a few pedals on the board so have no problem with signal strength into the tuner with it at the end of the chain
I can confirm this is indeed true - eq on the BB is more powerful however which for me was a plus, as long as you only need one channel.
yup - i had a 2002 bassdrive for many years but eventually replaced it with the BB as I preferred the EQ of the xotic pedal. I use a booster in front of the BB and this pushes it in a v similar way to using the boost function on the bassdrive... just back from practise, and changed my board up a bit, as I'm using a P now instead of a jazz... v happy with this little setup I prefer how my grey stache sounded with the jazz, but using the precision, the TFR sounds a bit better to me - meaty as hell

cheers all - just back from band practise... soooo in love with this bass
Pearl Jam fan and I like Jeff Ament's playing, however, he has never been or looked cool. It's just one of those things I'm afraid
i actually think all of PJ look pretty cool considering they are getting on in years... -

Jeff Ament will be 50 in march and still looks very cool with his lull Sig t-bird bass... 50 is the new 30 -
Yes, with the 60 year anniversary neck plate. Couldn`t believe my luck when I saw it advertised. chatting to the guy at PMT he said he couldn`t believe it when the instruction came round to price them up at that amount. They also had Black/White/Maple ones for the same amount.
amazing - there are still one or two white and black P's on their website at £799... had to haggle with mine as it was falsely marked up as a 2012 (by mistake)... not sure a sunburst is worth an extra £100, but I'm still very happy with £900 for a brand new US precision

Wow - was it a 2011 year bass??
nice! (and how does it compare to the JV's?)
well, weight-wise it sits between the 2 JV's I have. I don't have the ability to weight any of them, but the US is pretty light. Obviously the two JV's have had 30 years of playing, but the neck on the US is really nice, a very similar profile. The US has a v. similar tone to the JV's, but is maybe slightly beefier... I may actually sell one of the JV's but not going to rush into that decision! It had to be better than my JV's for me to buy it, and I think it is - I'm really really happy with it
Can I ask how much you haggled??
I am particularly bad at haggling normally, but I basically did a google shopping search for '2011 US P bass' on my iphone. Digital Village had a few 2011 basses left at £899 so I asked them to match that There are a handful of 2011's on the 'net for the same price (and some stated as being '2008' for £799 too) so bargains out there...

i had one and sold it. I also had a problem with flicking switches by mistake during a gig... they look really cool though, and I wanted to like it, it just wasn't for me.

OK, so I don't want to get into the Fender good / Fender bad QA discussions - I'm far too happy with my new bass to care I popped into a guitar shop this weekend as I wanted to try a 2012 Precision, as they seem to be getting a lot of good press on here and over on Talkbass (and I wanted to compare them to my JV Squier P's)... they didn't have a 2012 in stock, but had a 2011 - which was an absolute beaut... So after 40 minutes playing, and almost as long haggling, I managed to get a really good deal on this (as it's an older model). Anybody on the fence about getting a fender, there seem to be a few bargains out there on 2008 spec basses if you are happy to haggle It's really light, has a fantastic neck, lovely sunburst finish and really well set up. Very punchy sound too...

have to say i was a bit disappointed to find out this was another SVT-based pedal. zvex have made so many unique guitar pedals, i was hoping they would be a little more creative than just making another SFT/flipster/sansamp style pedal. though saying that i'm still interested in hearing low gain samples

Up for sale is my Fender Japan non-export 62RI Jazz. I bought this bass on here towards the end of 2011 from cayston, who got it from Far East Guitars earlier in 2011. The bass has Fender US pickups and a Badass II bridge, and according to John from Far East Guitars, this colour is meant to be pretty rare. Pickups and bridge were fitted as standard, I think this was a limited run that Fender Japan did. There is a tiny little scratch / ding on the headstock. I have taken a pic to show this - it's a very minor ding, just wanted to highlight it in a picture. Aside from this, bass is in as-new condition. I am selling this as I really want another Precision, and Jazz necks are just a bit too slim for my tastes. This has had a setup recently and plays beautifully, and has a fantastic growly tone. I recorded with this recently, and if you want to hear it, listen to http://firstandlastm...c.bandcamp.com/ ('you do it' has a little bass intro, which shows the growly tone I mentioned). This really is a cracking bass, I just can't get used to the jazz style neck so reluctantly selling. I am looking for £650 which is what I paid for the bass in 2011 Price is pretty firm, as need the cash to put towards another bass.... I'm based in Bristol if you wanna try it out (price doesn't include delivery). Don't have scales so can't weigh this. It's not as light as my precision, but certainly not what I'd call a heavy bass (sorry that's not a huge help!) cheers bass: body shot: little mark on headstock: neck and headstock:
