1. Now traded for that beautiful MM Stirling Onyx recently advertised by Oli on here!
2. Musicmaster sold pending the usual. Lakland still up for trade.
3. Thanks guys, the DJ really is a players bass, but I suffer form serious GAS. If you follow my threads you will see that the DJ has morphed from two separate Stingrays, a US standard Precision, a Marcus Miller olly white, a US hot rod Jazz and where it all started a '97 Jap 75 reissue which I wish I had never sold! That has been a three year journey and all the time I have kept my 'keeper' a 2007 US standard Jazz! I just keep coming back to Fender Jazz basses, despite them being significantly heavier and more unwieldy than the Lakland. Some people never learn! And I'm not alone with my GAS, Gusto gave me a very nice early bump (above) without remembering this was originally his DJ
4. Hi Soulrabbi, You can gladly have it for £200 plus postage. There's no case, but it would be severely bubble wrapped! PM me if you want more details and I can send some pics. Cheers, Bungie
5. So I've got a new job and by my reckoning that allows me to do some bass upgrading while mitigating the risk of divorce! What have I got? Lakland DJ4 Skyline in natural, maple and black block inlays. Mint condition. Trade value circa £700. and * SOLD PENDING * Squier Musicmaster Vista series in sea foam green. 1997 and again in mint condition. These are superbly built and rare short scale basses. Trade value £200 Struggling with the photo uploader at the moment, but you know what you're looking at and both are in mint condition. I'll keep trying to get some photos up today or can email images direct. What do I want? My dream bass would be a USA 75 reissue Jazz, but I am very interested in any nice Jazz specimens or earlier MIJ Jazzes or alternatively happy to listen to all offers. Cash adjustments either way, but I am really looking to trade upwards. I'm York based, but happy to travel. Bungie
6. Thanks Will, I might still be interested, but will need to shift something first! Bungie
7. Hi Will, I have a lovely little Squier Musicamaster Vista Series in sea foam green 1997 and mint condition (short scale of course) that I am looking to trade. With cash your way also of course? I'm only near York. Bungie
8. Folks, Thanks for all the interest in this bass, but 'Alisterf' got there first with a firm offer. Regards, Neil
9. Thanks Gareth. I think your are about right except that this does have a stunted top horn when compared to my Precision, but apart from that is very much a Precision. Kind regards, Neil
10. I have lots more photos including some with neck off to show neck heel and body cavity, but I appear to be at my limit for this post. PM me if you need more.
11. Hi Folks, In my pursuit of a nice shorscale bass I recently travelled half way across the country to buy what was advertised as a shortscale Squier Bullet bass, only to discover when I got there that the numb youth selling it had used a library photo of a shortscale and that in actual fact it was a longscale. Rather frustrating, but the build quality of this thing was so good I bought it anyway. I did a lot of research on Bullet Basses, which were only made for a short period in the early to mid eighties in the USA, then Japan and latterly Korea. They are indeed very mysterious (there is lots of contradictory info about them on the net) and appear to have been made from anything that Fender had lying around at the time, ranging from naff plywood bodies through to really quality kit. Dating them with any consistency is really tricky. What they all seem to share are those superb early eighties Japanese necks! So to this one which is totally original. Serial number: E700499 which dates it to 1984-87 built at the Fugijen factory in Japan. However, some of the early Korean ones had an E1 serial number, but were also marked as 'Made in Korea'. This one isn't, but neither does it have a 'Made in Japan' mark. I think this one will be a 1986/7 model and the very last of the Japanese ones before production moved to Korea. The early Jap ones has a Tele headstock and heel adjust truss. The body is solid wood. It's heavy (the bass is 9.5 lbs on the scales) so I suspect it will be alder. It has contoured body recesses (which many didn't have, just being a simple slab body). Size wise it is the same size as my Precision, but has the stubby top horn of the Bullet bass. This one also has the full size Precision pup, which is loud and punchy and very mellow. Some had a Mustang pickup fitted, which are supposed to be a bit thin. The neck is to die for. It's one of those super slim 80's Jap necks, but standard Precision width. It has a lovely slab rosewood board and skunk stripe. The truss rod adjuster is at the head end and is working nicely. The bass is set up with a nice low action and there is no fret wear. The Bullets also have some quite unique elephant ear tuners. Overall condition is great, with just the right amount of vintage mojo. The body has various little marks, dinks and scratches around the edges. When you pick this bass up, it oozes quality, which is surprising because they were initially marketed as a budget bass, but if you got lucky, you got one made from really good bits like this one. I had a JV Squier precision for a while and would hold this in comparison any day. Why am I selling it? Well, it's not a shortscale. I have various longscale basses and this one wont get played. I was going to keep it, but I have just managed to source a Musicmaster, so funds need replenishing. For sale only at a vintage rarity bargain price of £200 OVNO. I'm York based, but happy to discuss postage. Cheers, Neil
12. Hi John, We,ve traded a couple of basses, but a 60's EB3 might just be a bit too vintage and chunky for me. I did twiddle on a couple of yours when we last did business. I'll keep the offer in mind. Regards, Neil
13. Fabrocker: No thanks to a Musicmaster, unless it was a very cheap one. Thanks though.
14. Now added Ted. Have you still got that medium scale Precision? I watched one a 3TS come and go via you recently. Neil
15. Bump, with sale option and very flexible trade price added!
16. Hi Folks, I've got myself a USA Precision which isn't getting played (another one!) so I'm getting GAS and looking to potentially trade it. It's a 2004 USA Precision 3TS, rosewood board, white scratch plate with OHSC and case candy. String through with S1 switching. All mint and unmarked. It was another of my 'I must have a Precision' acquisitions and then don't get on with the sound. The fourth by my reckoning. What do I want? (apart from a stern speaking to) I really fancy a Mustang or something shortscale (Rivoli, Tokai EB2 etc.). Trade / sale value? Trade value circa £600, but would sell for £500 (a bargain, it's mint!). Also happy to trade up/down for the right bass with cash adjustment. Pictures? Now added. Where am I? I'm York based, but always happy to discuss travel / postage. PM me if any interest. Kind regards, Neil (Bungie)

18. I had an oly white Miller. It was a minter and I didn't realise how sought after they are until I put it up here for trade. It swapped quickly for a Stingray. I'm a pick player and try as I might I couldn't get the Miller to sound right, far to much top end and honk for me. Funnily, enough very nearly traded it for a Sandberg, which I love the lokk of!
19. Hi John, Don't know what happened with the PM, anyway, would offer this plus £200. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/192608-ft-1983-fender-squier-precision-bass-jv-revised/ Let me know. Cheers, Neil
20. Always willing to come to some arrangement with a fellow Bass Chatter(er). I'll PM you
21. Hi Folks, I've relisted this following some excellent advice from fellow Bass Chatters who have helped me with the provenence. Anyway, I have for trade a lovely vintage Fender Squier Precision in black with maple neck and white (now cream) guard. The neck is pencil dated 8-6-83 with EX1 stamped (export). Bass Chat gurus advise me that the neck and tuners (reverse Klusons) are most certainly JV, but the body is less certain. There is no serial number on the neck plate (which in itself is not unusual for early Squiers. Their serial numbering regime is well documented as being sporadic), but the routing is not typical JV and it has plastic coated wires rather than cloth coated. It does however, have the green capacitor fitted, typical of JV's. Either way the body and hardware are still obviously vintage with all that ageing that you only really get through 30 years of age! As a package, the bass feels really nice quality (the necks are legendary) and is in very good condition for its age. No fretwear and just the right amount of little dinks comensurate with its age. It obviously hasn't been a regular players bass. I acquired it recently through a local contact who advises that he inherited it from an old guy who had owned it for most of its life and not played it a great deal. When I got it the action was awful and it was obvious it hadn't been played for ages. I gave it a really good set up and it is now playing superbly with a nice low action and good sustain across the whole fretboard. There are no dead spots and there is plenty of truss rod adjustment. All the electrics work as they should, with no crackling and the pup is loud and typically Precision punchy. I'm not a bassist who is emotionally attached to vintage guitars and bought this thinking I might have acquired a 'closet classic', but given the potential uncertainty of the body I would not want to advertise this as a full JV Squier. I'm now looking to trade it on, ideally with an upgrade (cash from me) and, given the previous, would value this bass at £300 to 350. It's a lovely vintage Japanese bass. Sadly, for some reason, the pics I have of the bass in bits (neck, body cavity etc) wont upload to the forum and I don't want to take it apart again to take some more, so I have posted a link to the current advert I have on Ebay (I'm not sure whether this is legal on the Forum?). Either way I would prefer to trade this with a Bass Chatter than sell it on Evil Bay. Alternatively, email me on "][email protected] and I'll email you the full set of pics I have. Well I'm prepared to listen to anything really, value £400 to £600 ish. Try me. Many thanks, and a particular thanks to Ash who gave me some really valuable advice on this bass. Cheers, Bungie (Neil)
