1. Folks, Thank you for all the interest and kind comments associated with this post. I promised to keep the post updated. The natural Sterling and Starfire are now sold. I have decided to temporarily withdraw the red Sterling while I can still pluck a bit. It will be available in the coming months. (I dug its case out and reminded myself that it had had a Nordstrand pick up upgrade - the original is still in the case). The Hofner is still available (really nice electro bass). The Jazz is still available, but I do have some interest in it and will be PMing those BCers who contacted me about it. Thanks again, Neil
2. Long shot, but does the DeArmond Starfire have a case ? No case I'm afraid Mike. Cheers, Neil
3. Folks, Loads of interest in the Sterlings and Jazz. As per my earlier post, they are on hold until tomorrow evening. If still available thereafter, I have a chronological list of messages received from BCers wanting them. I'm afraid that I will have to give priority to folk who can collect because my health issues present a real problem with the logistics of packing and posting. Thanks for all the interest. Neil
4. Link to pics below, as much to prove the basses exist really rather than detailed photography, which I've never really mastered. Please feedback to me if the link doesn't work. http://s121.photobucket.com/user/BungieB/library/?sort=3&page=1
5. Thanks for the kind comments gents (I wish they didn't have to go). I'll put together a picture link this evening, but there has been quite a lot of interest already and I have promised to hold the Sterlings and Jazz for one of our community to come and try out tomorrow evening. Thanks, Neil
6. Folks, After many years of buying and trading basses on the Forum, ill health has finally caught up with me so it's time to sell the fleet at, what I hope, are very reasonable prices. They all came from the here, so it only seems fair that I recycle them back into the BC community, following my normal BC trading ethos of no profit and more often a loss! 1, ****** Temporarily withdrawn******* 1994 Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling - In trans red with one of the nicest figured birdseye maple necks you are ever likely to see (front and back) and black guard. Comes with the original mutes and a tolex case. This is my pride and joy and is in really good condition for its age, with only a small amount of swirling and marks. An absolute stunner. £700. 2,******** Sold ********** 1999 Ernie Ball Music Man Sterling - In natural with maple neck and black guard. This one has been a studio dweller all its life and is simply unmarked. Comes with an as new Gator hard case. £600. 3, ******** Sold ********** 2004 Fender USA Jazz - Black, tort, maple. S1 switching. This was my main bass for quite a few years and is in really good clean condition, with only a couple of little marks and knocks (no scratches or chips). Comes with Fender shaped OHSC and case candy. £500. 4, ******* Sold ********* 1990's Dearmond by Guild Starfire semi-acoustic shortscale bass - In trans red. Unmarked condition. A very underestimated brand of bass with superb build quality. An absolute bargain at £250. 5, Hofner elctro-acoustic bass - Model number HA B07 (quite a plush one apparently) Like new and superb build quality. £200. These prices are strictly BC only, non-negotiable, bank transfer / cash only, no fees etc etc. I'm based near York and would very much prefer collection. I'm happy to meet at York railway station or travel a reasonable distance (as I have many times to trade on the Forum ). Please feel free to either PM me, email me on [email protected] or call me on 07817021200. 7. Think this is my old Stingray that I traded to Gusto for a Lakland DJ? If it is (correct me if I'm wrong Gusto) it's a peach to play. Before I owned this bass I often heard the expression 'player's bass', but didn't really know what that meant. When I laid my hands on this I knew exactly - 'worn in' not 'worn out', plays itself etc etc. Either way, just a pleasure to play and own. I'd have it back if I had the spare cash. A great bass and great bloke to do business with.
8. Just completed a trade with Dunc; my SQ Precision for his DeArmond Starfire. What a gent! Good communication prior to our meet and the bass was exactly as described (in fact better!). Also managed to grab a quick pint while the trade was being done. Must schedule in more time for a proper catch up next time I do business with Dunc. Deal with total confidence!
9. Just traded my MIA 75 RI Jazz for Jamie's natural USA MM Sterling. This was a postal trade and everything went very well. Excellent communication from Jamie throughout and the Sterling was exactly as described. A trustable and honest BCer and nice all round bloke. Do business with complete confidence.
10. Just traded by MM Sterling for Neil's 75 reissue Jazz. A true gentleman. Superb communication throughout and met half way to make the exchange. Jazz even better than described. Buy / sell / trade with total confidence. Thanks, Neil
11. Hi Sascha, I'm afarid I wouldn't be confident in doing a trade overseas. I would contemplate a straight sale overseas, which I have done previously. Cheers, Neil
12. Weekend bump. Some interesting offers received, but nothing solid just yet. :-)
13. Thanks Blunderthumbs, you are a gentleman! I really enjoyed tracking its history on the net. She is certainly very collectable, but sadly I suffer from bad GAS and despite best intentions never hang on to my nicest basses for very long before the urge to trade takes over. Cheers, Neil
14.
MB1. The Return of Black Beauty! BUMP!
Thanks Martin, she's as nice as ever. And I still feel justified wearling the EBMM T shirt you gave me, given that I still own a second Sterling! Price adjustment to £1k and happy to listen to trade offers with cash adjustment.
15. Trade value tweaked to a nice round £1000. Happy to listen to trade offers either side of this. Time to recirculate this stunning bass into the Basschat community. For trade is my Musicman Sterling Black Onyx "Davtran" Limited Edition Only 150 made, and all were produced circa. Oct and Nov 2002. This is No 132 of 150 and has a Certificate of Authenticity. I have owned it for a couple of years, but it has been through the hands of a number of Basschatters over the years. Because it has its own hand written limited edition number, it is quite easy to trace on the forum and the internet generally (there is loads of information out there on this limited edition run). This bass even features on the "The Original Comprehensive Music Man Bass Website". Scroll down to almost the bottom of the page and you will see a photo of the actual bass itself. http://myweb.ecompla...tompage0030.htm The bass is in superb condition with no noticeable marks whatsoever, other than pick marking on the pick guard. I suspect it has been kept as a collector’s piece by most of its previous owners, but I played it regularly for a year and enjoyed it so much, I bought a second USA MM Sterling, which I now play exclusively. This one is just too nice to use for day to day duties. And of course, it is very, very black. It even comes with black strap locks and its very black original MM hardcase. A beautiful instrument that is a delight to play and now needs a new owner. Trade wise I’m looking for either a really nice Jazz, Stingray, Bongo or possibly a Ric (if I can use that word here), but open to offers. I’m York based, but willing to travel for the right trade. Apologies for the photos, I wish I could master the skills of some fellow Basschatters with the camera! (Edit: Just 'borrowed' the below photos from another forum site when the bass was sold back in 2012. Hope the contributor doesn't mind). 16. Bungie

Sold

Not a maple board, but a superb bass. Any interest? Trade value £350. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/248542-fsft-198384-sq-squier-precision-l350/page__p__2621393__hl__sq%20precision__fromsearch__1#entry2621393
17. Bought David's MM Sterling, bass arrived safely today and superbly packed. Three days from Hungary to my house and tracked all the way, excellent service. Strangely, seems that this bass was even sold by a shop some 20 miles from my house at some stage in its life! And as for the bass; simply brilliant, I am really, really pleased and you have been a pleasure to do business with. Buy with confidence.
18. Sold my Status Energy to Ash. Seamless transaction, great communications, prompt payment and an all round good egg!
19. Hi Stuee, Apologies for the confusion, the thread started off with three basses for sale hence all the different pictures. The other two basses sold, but regrettably, you can't edit the trade price on the ad. It's the sunbusrt Precision in the slide show and the price or trade value is £380. I was selling it cheaper when I needed to move a bass or two on to fund a new arrival, but it's back at a more realistic price now. Thanks for the interest. Neil
