  1. Fellow sufferer.  I can often tune it out, but I find that if I'm in a room with a lot of folks talking I find it really hard to tune into the conversation I'm having.  Quite frustrating as a part of my job is to do events/public speaking etc.

  2. Well, I never thought the day would come that I’d be selling this bass because of arthritis.  When I ordered this bass I was attempting to create my perfect version of a Gibson EB3 style bass without the things that frustrate me about Gibson basses in general.  I have to say that I was, and still am, very pleased with the result.  A great gigging bass with a good variety of tones to hand, from deep and rich to very punchy.  Weight is just over 4kgs.

The bass is in excellent condition having bee cherished all its life.  It will come with a gig bag.

AGH is a small one-man builder in Leek (when I picked this up, Alex said that was pausing new builds, but that may be old info now).  I also have some pics of the build process if anyone would like to see them.

    Spec.:

    ·       Body - Cherry with Indian Rosewood top and radiussed body edges (not beveled)

    ·       Finish - Natural satin

    ·       Scale length - 32” with 21 vintage-style  frets + zero fret

    ·       Neck - 5-pc Maple/Wenge (neck through with angled 2 over 2 with Gibson-esque headstock

    ·       Nut width – 43mm

    ·       Fretboard - Rosewood with 20" radius

    ·       Side dots - Luminlay

    ·       Bridge - BadAss II

    ·       Electronics - Passive:  Volume, Blend, Tone, Series/Parallel mini switch for Artec EBC4

    ·       Pickups Neck - Artec EBC4 Mudbucker (placement per early 70s EB-0 / EB-3)

    ·       Bridge – Thunderbird-style

    ·       Strap locks - Dunlop Dual Design

    ·       Tuners - Lightweight Gotoh keys

    ·       Hardware colour - Chrome

    ·       Strings - D’Addario EX170BT

I would probably prefer a meet up to hand over the bass if at all possible or collection from me if you’re nearby.  I might consider a courier if either of the preferred options is not possible.  Clearly there would be some additional cost involved.

    There’s an NBD thread here:

Here are some pics.  Happy to answer any questions, do more pics and for anyone to try the bass out here.

    Thanks for looking.

  3. Pictures to follow later today.

For sale is my barely used Valeton Bass Dapper in the original box with PSU and mini manual.  I've used it maybe 3 to 4 times at home only and it was originally purchased to use as a DI into the PA.  Now that I'm winding down and getting rid of stuff, this is up for grabs.

It has several components, most of which are clones of well known gear:

    - Tuner

    - Compressor/boost

    - Envelope filter

    - Drive

    - Octaver

    - Chorus

    - XLR DI output and an effects loop

    £60 including UK postage.

  4. Now sold elsewhere

For sale is this Sandberg Electra model available only via Thomann.  I purchased this last year and have been the only owner since then.  As you can see this is a highly spec’d bass with many features only found on higher quality instruments.

The bass is in excellent condition having never left the house.  The neck is the usual amazing Sandberg item with a lovely satin finish so great to move around on.  The bass weighs 8lbs 13oz, or exactly 4kgs in new money and balances really well.

I should also point out that the neck pickup is hum-cancelling even though it looks like a single coil.

Collection is preferred but I have materials to post  if required.  This will be at cost.

    Spec.:

    •  Thomann 70th Anniversary Model

    •  Body: Alder

    •  Bolt-on neck (6-bolt): Maple

    •  Fingerboard: Ebony

    •  Neck profile: C

    •  Scale: 34" (long scale)

    •  Plastic nut

    •  22 Nickel silver frets

    •  Pickups: 1x Sandberg-designed single coil (middle) and 1x Sandberg humbucker (bridge)

    •  Volume, blend, treble and bass controls

    •  Active/passive with passive tone

    •  Black pickguard

    •  Gunmetal hardware

    •  Original strings: D'Addario Nickel .045 - .105

    •  Colour: Matt black with matching headstock

Here are the pics.  Please let me know if you would like to see anything in more detail.

  5. Hi folks, more stuff from the spares draw.  These are very lightweight tuners and the one that Low End Lobster has been fitting to his Sire basses as a drop in replacement.

This set is of four tuning machines is brand new and unopened.

    SOLD ELSEWHERE

Here are a couple of pics and the link to Lobster's YouTube vid on the subject.

This specific item seems to be particularly hard to find anywhere at the moment.  It is brand new and unused.

£35 inc. P&P to UK mainland

  7. What separates your band from the other bands in the areas you work in? - I'd say it's that we are an originals band and never play covers.

What do you have that others don't? - Tricky to answer without sounding a bit arsy, a couple of seriously good musicians (and then me as a counterpoint).  I'd like to think our songs are lyrically interesting and cover a number of styles and from the bass perspective there are not many songs without an excursion beyond the 12th fret.  I know, sorry brethren.

If you were pitching your band to a prospect, what would be your bast selling point. - We are very reliable.

You can also add in areas where you think your band struggles. - It needs a decent bass player.

  8. Ooof, that sounds like an extreme version of the SD Quarter Pounders.  My only experience of those was in a Nate Mendel P bass and to my ears it was a horrible sounding thing like being slapped around the face by harsh mids and lacking any depth or warmth.  Only useable with the vol turned down and the tone backed off.  Obvs YMMV but not a pleasant experience for me personally.

I have a set of Dukes in my Jet  Jazz and lovely things they are too.  Great value at £65 for the set too.
