Are not most NBDs totally unnecessary? I know the majority of mine certainly are

I've played a couple of Wal basses and, tbh, I didn't really get on with them. I'm speaking here as an ACG bass owner with the multi-coil pickups and filter preamp so I was expecting to feel right at home. Couldn't put my finger on why, but there you go.

I have taken the plunge and commissioned a bass with AGH. Just sorting out the final details this week.

By automatic operation of sod's law a friend has chosen 18th May to get married, so I'm not able to make it.
Gutted - I was getting really excited about seeing some of those basses! 😭
Very inconsiderate of your friend, do they not understand the importance of a bass bash?

No idea what I did wrong, but I appear to have lost the hyperlinks some how; sorry.

I should be ok for 18th May.

Harsh but fair. Might bring more than one, but please, tour rules apply.

Also interested. Will need to check the date with She Who Must Be Feared and Obeyed.

Folks might also wish to consider the Sterling by Musicman Pete Wentz Signature Bass. Same passive Stingray type bass but a lot cheaper. I picked one up preloved for a chunk less than the JD by Sterling or whatever it's called.
OK, mine is black not natural, but it does have a roasted maple neck and nicer knobs if we are being picky. I think the controls are better placed than on this new bass too. That being said I do love the look of the JD by stealth bass.

Just acquired a bridge from Dave. It arrived super quickly and packaged to withstand a nuclear strike. Top bloke; one of the best on here.
Thanks again.

i like your black scratchplate as well.... where did you get that from?
This is my old bass. The sratchplate was custom made by Jack's Instrument Services in Manchester IIRC.

Hi there
Are the GB707s still available?
Many thanks

Back at £225 now. Looks like someone thought it was something else from that stable.

This is very cool. What's the story with the shape? Is it a one off or a first of its kind?
I think there are quite a few knocking about that I remember seeing but I'm not sure of the full background to the body shape. There maybe something on the ACG thread.
Just checked back. The SLG was launched in 2020.

I think that deserves a 'Quite Nice' on the rating scale ead.
What scale length is it?
Yes, I would agree. Quite nice is a fair judgement.
Scale length is 32".

This landed two weeks ago and due to a bout of ill health I'm just getting around to this post. My humble apologies bass brethren, I throw myself to the mercy of the court.
p.s. It's a cracker.
Rather than re-post Alan's pics please see the web page here: https://acguitars.co.uk/project/0500slg4-32/
I did manage one pic at ead towers though:

Thanks - a few I haven't tried suggested so far ..... just need to find somewhere that stocks them all (or at least a city that does)
So far versions I might be able to try/buy, are :
Jazz Bass - I always considered these to be more "mid bass forward" so haven't tried on e for years - but everyday's a School Day so ......
Stingray,(might need to be a Sterling Ray34 though ???)
A Yamaha PJ ....
Schecter
G&L L2000
I'd like to try these so are there specific mid price examples to seek out? (Mid price = £1000 or preferably MUCH less!!)
I'm reluctant to mod the Sandberg as it's far too nice for me to mess with!!I have a selection of three very different Js to are welcome to come and try. I seem to recall we are not too far apart. I'm afraid I can't help with the others, but I do have an ACG that would, I'm sure, hit your spot.

I owned an RSD Chinese Metroexpress (fretless) for quite a while and the simple expedient of taking out the original fit preamp and replacing it with a John East drop in J Retro Deluxe tuned it into a very decent bass indeed. I found no issues with the hardware and the original fit pickups, although not the Saowsky hum cancelling ones, were also perfectly fine.

For a less mid-forward bass I’d look at a Jazz bass.
This. My favourite being my Geddy Lee (or any other J with 70s pickup positions).
