Do we know what those two switches do yet? Are we thinking that they are the same series/parallel coil switches for each pickup as they original bass?
-
Interesting and also tempting, but I do prefer the black ones.

Not keen on green or blue basses for no particularly good reason; the honourable exception being seafoam green.
Some headstocks that are unnecessarily distinctive.
Jazz basses with the chrome bell plate but no scratchplate / pickguard.

Volume blend stack plus a configurable filter tone control for each pickup.

Thanks ead. Yes it's lovely. You still have my old acg j type? The one on your profile?
Sadly that had to go when I had a cash crisis a little while back. I still have both my ACG fretless basses though.

Lovely instrument, my old bass this one.

I want a new bass…. Going round in circles
Probably the singular most dangerous phrase to post on a bass players forum

I have just relieved Kevin of the burden of ownership of his YYZ pedal. Great transaction with hyper fast postage, immaculate packaging and extensive comms. One of the people that make this place a real pleasure to be a part of. Thanks again; deal in full confidence peeps.

That Cort looks like a steal to me.

The video review confirms that they are 70s spacing too.

Do my eyes deceive me or do these Jet basses actually have that 70s spacing?

I recently got a Sire Passive P5 5 string and am liking it, especially the neck - prices seem to vary, mine was a good deal as at the time it was the last one in stock at Bax - they seem to drop prices when they get low on stock - after I ordered it the price for the same model on order went up to the market rate.
By all accounts these are excellent and lightweight.

I had a fretless RSD and found the preamp was the main issue as it was feisty to say the least. Ended up swapping it for a preloved John East J Retro preamp that I acquired on here for a little over £100. Not dead slient but very, very much better.

Much prefer the headstock on these basses to the Sire and HB offerings. If they are of the same general quality they look like good platforms for a few modest upgrades.
Do any of them offer a 70s pickup spacing?

All fixed now. Many thanks again folks.

Fret markers?
Yes, dots on the side where the frets would be.

I’m close to doing a deal on a used Sandberg Forty Eight, based mainly on a combination of curiosity and visual lust.
Twp perfectly good reasons to buy a bass
The neck pickup is actually a split coil and the bridge is a humbucker.

The nut with is 42mm and the neck is definitely a 50s 'U' shaped neck. If you would like me to measure anything in particular please let me know what dimensions you are after and I'll do my best to get you information.

On the day that I was born Elvis was #1 with It's Now or Never. Thirteen years later it was Slade with Merry Xmas Everybody. Weirdly (or not) the Slade tune is the song we will be playing at gigs this festive season.

That looks like a good, honest, hardworking bass. The price sounds more than fair for a Jap squier with upgraded electronics.
Thanks, that is spot on. It's done a good few gigs and records very nicely.

Now sold peeps.
I am making a determined effort to sell a couple of basses that are no longer getting the use that they deserve. A more modest offering here with a Japanese made Squier from 1993. Good little bass this that served me well but my Limelight Lee Sklar replica is now being used a lot and this bass needs a new loving owner.
Cracking little P bass this with a a few upgrades. Firstly a Bareknuckle '58 Pickup and also a Kiogon loom. The knobs are also not original but are really lightweight aluminium items.
The bass plays very nicely and has a few marks commensurate with its age. The neck has worn to a lovely silky finish now and is a pleasure to move about on. The bass is a very comfortable 8lbs 3oz, or 3.7kgs in modern money.
Priced at £300 that I think is very fair considering the upgrades. I have the original pickup and loom too and these will come with the bass along with a gig bag.
Here are a few pics. Black basses are a bit of a sod to photograph but I've done my best. Let me know if you want any more detail on anything, or indeed if you have any questions.
Thanks for looking in.
