1. Thought not? Anyone flogging a BC1? Anyone got one??
2. Total shot in the dark..... Anyone know of any contact for him... Im trying to track the man down..Im asking the same question on Talkbass
3. Go to Ripon, and meet this guy http://luthiery.co.uk/ Nice Bloke...He's called Jim
4. Simple answer..its crud, sweat, and gunk off your hands... Simple solutions.....Boil strings, does return the zing...but its a hassle taking them on/off,getting the pan..water...and towel drying then leaving to dry properly.... Medicated Swabs..Isopropyl Alchohol...run them up down the strings and your fingers (cleans them,so stops more crud getting onto the instrument)before and after playing...then quick towel dry after wards, leave for 10 mins. Finally...and this was a tip from a bigtime superwiddly ERBist I got on Skype the other night...cloth..and WD40....spray onto cloth, run up/down the strings, and leave to dry out. And this man does this on a custom Alembic.... I used to get 4 long gigs to a set,and then they would break..Im harsh, even with boiling,a set would die in 2 gigs..(5 hrs onstage).
5. They (America) get just as confused by the way we speak too.... My fave Yank word in music is 'Shedding'.......
6. Man Im feeling old... P-Bass...into a Vox Wah...then into a Solid state amp with Bass/mid ramped a bit....look for a natural overdrive...Summat with 15" speakers for that early 70s vibe. The Bass distorts heavily, because Roger Bain (and the band) didnt realise how much the Wah dropped the signal in volume, hense how the track slowly raises in volume for the solo, and when Geezer switches the pedal off it was this big classic fuzzy overdriven tone. The Wah would return for 'The Writ'
7. Yank slang..... I find the new layout as before, only easier on the eye.
8. I think the solution is simple Just dont sign...you dont really need to these days anyway,if people want your product then you can get it to them without all the hassles a label gives...granted a label can get you MASSIVE exposure, and pay magazines to love you, meaning the people that buy those mags like you...and sales increase.... But is it really worth it now?
9.
Defintely EMG dude ;o) You can see the logo and the pickup shell is 'that EMG shape' too ;o) /geek
I aint got my spex on....it'll be the 18v active (why do so many extreme bands use actives...Passive on a 4 is far thicker and nastier) 3 bnd super eq (Ive never touched mine save maybe a bass boost)... Saw the lad from Choasanct play summat like that last night...seemed ok...
10. (Steps up to the plate, asbestos suit clad in....) JIM FLEETING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://luthiery.co.uk/ Why bother anyone else?......If you have to cross the waters try http://www.aries-basses.com/ if you seek the total one off,and never before seen. Failing that..Get a sh*t hot rig....You can get the Complete Bass art Glockenklang rig for that wedge... Or get a Jazz, and just mod it.....its your money..dont just hurl it at anyones pocket..think real hard....sleep a month on it.
11. What Dood is saying....They are either EMG or Barts..but knowing Metal its EMGs in there Its an ESP/Ltd Bass...and thats the neck P/U...or rather (given the 2 octave neck) a mid P/U...solo'd....a bit of Amp cranked as DI,with maybe a line out for grunt through something... The strings look as if they are Coated..could be DRs..But Im not a Behemoth fan...How many companies are making 'Black' strings?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNBixcsaOF0...feature=related This was one of my Fave Black Metal tones...B-War (Yes his stage name is typical NEKKRO!!) Gibson T-bird or Ricky into a Metalzone.
12.
Living in the area where Gordon Sumner grew up I thought I would check the loft for any Sting memorabilia - - Close - - I found a wasp's nest.
What did you do ...run away?? I guess you could call that cowardice.
13. Played Holloway rd,Londoncestershire...The Gaff. Turned up REALLY early,it played to our advantage,Only band to get a full soundcheck....asked if the soundguy wanted a line out from the house rig,or the DI..(His eyes lit up).."The Sansamp man..Best thing for Metal"...so 1: nil there... Soundcheck... Scott brought the geetar I had Jim modify...Invader P/U...and a set of 12s,it made a big (read--better) difference. Had a half hours worth but was all done in 20 mins,we work fast us northern WMC types... GIG... Took the room by the balls and squeezed.....We took the place apart, the sound was phat,I am SOOOOO happy that Larry DiMarzio and Tech 21 exists, the Sansamp did its bit and my sound thundered....Tight,heavy....good..and most of all entertaining. Aftermath... Lot of nice words...definite rebookings promised...sow'd the seeds of a fanbase in London.... In short ...JOB DONE!
14.
Don't believe the hype. Most of them just think they are tough in the same way that black metal bands think they are in league with the devil.
I refer you to the open few words upon the rest of the statement...... There are a few that are 'For real' but mostly its kids out to shock...

16. Hello....Good evening and welcome.
17.
Actually I've never slagged off anybody for learning about music or being able to read or any other attributes that require commitment and hard work. I only ever turn up when someone makes generalisations that if you don't play prog rock on a 9-string bass then you're a less talented musician and you must by extension hate the people who are playing prog rock with their giant basses. I honestly don't mind what other people do with their basses, I don't have to listen to it. The assumption that I'm closed-minded or can't play because I think Wooten's plinky-plonky slap technique sounds like arse does irk me though. Can we not say that something sounds bad if the guy doing it's been on a magazine cover?
Ok..so where the f*** have I or anyone said that? Because you have.....and we did have a whole thread on YOUR generalisation over 'Covers and tribute acts'.
18.
Your sarcasm-fu is weak. Focus.
Look lad..lets level this here.... Ever since you basically implied that anyone that plays in or works in a covers band is a sh*t person/Musician,anyone with better gear than you is the same (its called hard work, effort, and want)and anyone who makes money whilst playing an instrument in a band is a 'breadhead'......You have bemoaned how everything would be perfect if you found a drummer (in defence,Ive winged for a good month or three, over that I couldnt find a band that needed a Bassist,so you have my sympathy on that front)..Claimed that gig life was SOOO better in the USA,enough,I think or if I recall, for OldGit and Rich* Jakesbass and OuttoplayJazz, to effectively say "Why dont you just f*** off back there then"....Slagged off 'Technical' musicians and those that read notation or generally anyone that might be musically more educated or literate or plain more capable than yourself (the mating call of the lesser spotted jealous bastard IME). I needled you over Grunge (sorry,if you were a Nirvana fan..peace on earth,I just didnt think or feel it was a mindblowing experience to grow up around a bunch of shower avoiding teens that saw feedback and bad sound as a means of original expression, and then spend a miserable half decade plus over Cobains suicide, comparing him to genius when ....he was not!!!..my opinion) You needled me over 'Elitism' and competition' (music ISNT a competition..its just that some want it to be..I dont, nor have ever1) To top this you have called me 'Dickless',and 'Unbareable Cock',accused me and a few others about the relation of string number to Penis size (oh how we have not heard THAT one before on here...)....and until this point in posting,Ive not actually done the same.... Sticks and stones fella, but its getting f***ing stupid and childish.... Now you either sort it via PM or you sort it here, its getting tiring, for me,and the others reading the threads, and it isnt putting neither you or me in a great light...it aint a popularity contest, its just a footnote to be a man about stuff and clear the air. *Brilliant moderation there
19. (sighs) Do people need a landing strip?..A floodlit stadium of obviousness??? Another smiley so people (cough..*Mods*..cough...) can actually understand what you write on here... (Im currantly on a screenwipe marathon..Charlie Brooker is a new god...hense Im in a gittish mood..and thick people can f*** off)
20.
I read ARGH's post slightly differently. I think its more a dig at people's attitude than ability. ...and my penis is tiny, but I hate anything above a 4 string. Work that one out.
Once again Sean,You are right.
21. ok..I admit, its not awfully clear... Its me having a stab at the tiny minded...
22.
...aaaaannnndddd...?
Try again....re-read.
23.
Hmm... ...#3 - according to whose criteria? Also why is not seeing the point of a bass with more than 4 strings indicative of not being a good musician...?
re-read
