In all regards other than the cosmetics, it's a stock GT200. Best shot I've got of the front plate (and the photo still isn't too great, sorry!) is this one. I can take more in a few days. I've got symbols rather than text, but like I said, you'll probably want to get a new front plate made to get rid of my name anyway

Alrighty, done a lot of soul searching over this one, but I really can't justify keeping it anymore. There's a reason you don't see these up for sale often - people want to hang onto them! Essentially, now that my band's split up, it's gathering dust and I really need the money that it has tied up in it With a Precision and new strings, it is absolutely the quintessential rock tone to me. The GT200 is a 200w all valve head, hand built with point to point wiring and everything. It has 4 and 8 ohm taps. Speakon only. My GT200 is slightly different in that the external dimensions are smaller than a standard model. It's about an inch less wide and an inch less tall than a standard one I think. I just thought the stock one was massive when I tried it, and that's the size Jeff made it to for me. It has had a checkover at Matamp in the not too distant past and has a clean bill of health. PAT tested not too long ago either. The 6x10 is 8 ohms, and I think the power handling is 2400W according to Jeff? Again, speakon only. They're both finished in white basketweave tolex, and the head has black piping. I think it looks pretty righteous all together. They've both been gigged but looked after, and they're in good condition. The faceplate on the GT200 is one I asked for, and consequently has my name on it, but I'll refund the buyer the cost of getting Matamp to make them a new faceplate. I'm not comfortable posting either of these (and at the very least, the cab will cost a small fortune to ship anyway), so collection only from Sheffield. Also not looking to split, but I'm after £1300 for the head and the cab together. Includes a Roqsolid cover for the cab, and one for the head I got from Matamp which is a bit loose due to the aforementioned dimension changes, but does the job. If you want more photos, let me know. Kettle lead and OBBM speakon lead included

Just for the curious, it looks like a Samson power conditioner, Axe FX Ultra, and the mystery box is I think a Rocktron stereo power amp, I think it's the 150W per side Velocity one.

For anyone interested, I found all of the bass and drum only tracks for Glassjaw's Worship and Tribute album. Massively cool to me, I'm sure some other people will like it too! Think I always just ripped it off as best I could with brute force, and then scraped any residue off with something scrapey and WD-40.

Commonly, the soft side goes on the board, and the hook side goes on the pedals. Personally, I remove rubber feet. If they have screws in them holding the pedal together, just screw the screw back in without the rubber foot. Velcro will stick much better on pedals like Boss ones if you remove the rubber backing, yes. Although I think with Boss ones, you MIGHT be able to just flip the back plate round and still have it all screw back together if you don't want to remove the rubber. Don't quote me on that though.

I looked at my GT200 and 6x10 again today and couldn't help but grin ^_^

Might also be worth downloading a few VST compressors and using them with your bass on a computer to see what a fully featured one will actually do?

One man's fortune is another man's pocket money. Give us a ballpark budget

Do you need a compressor? No. I've played tons of gigs without one. And I'm sure many people here have too. Probably a whole load of 'pros' to boot. Will it be beneficial though? Yeah, if you set it up well. I think a lot of people buy a cheap pedal compressor and go off compression because it just super squeezes their sound. A lot of pedal compressors will act as an effect, but a 2 knob pedal will never be as tweakable as something with proper gain reduction meters, and dedicated threshold/ratio etc controls. It's only since I've been fooling around with home recording, and hearing the difference that some compression VSTs can make to how good the bass sounds in a mix that I've started taking compression seriously though. There's no reason why a lot of the stuff you can learn about the mix of a recorded song can't apply live. I'm now able to give soundguys a consistent and clean high passed, compressed, limited and noise gated signal What's not to like? Proper rack compressor is the best move I've made for my live sound in a long time.
lol was a quick replacement B, which wasnt tapered so doesnt exactly fit need to order myself a nice new fullset cant wait to hear how the pups and preamp react with new strings either
Just noticed your band is 96/4. I know the guy who used to play bass for them - you ever spoken to him? He's a Conklin man too, and a cool guy
-
Your B string situation looks familiar from my days of owning Conklins
-
I thought it was a competition to WIN a Darkglass pedal? He doesn't mention using one.
Does it come from USA? If so then there's always the question of whether you're going to be charged extra ££££ for customs / handling...
It does. That doesn't make it difficult to get hold of though, it just means it costs you a bit more.
