1. i really really don't want to do this but -

my beautiful Bacchus bass is up for sale :) due to the credit crunch (or could it be the Remus race exhaust system i just bought for my bike  )
these are fantastic basses & are the best Jazz basses i have ever owned, superb quailty & awesome punchy sound.
i've had to make a hard desicion whether to sell this or my Jap '75 reissue jazz, but the jap is too pretty to sell, although i have to say the Bacchus plays better.
here is a site with more info on Bacchus.
http://www.japanvintageguitars.com/Bacchus.html
& here's a pic'

the colour is a bit more turquoise than my flashgun makes it look.
contition is very good with just a few minor dings but nothing major for a bass at least 10 years old (or so i'm told)
strung with Ernie Ball group IV flats (which are ace btw) & comes with a warwick rockbag.

as for the price i'll take £500.00 (cash only i'm afraid)for a quick sale & would prefer collection or maybee a meet somewhere pretty close to Harrogate.
i'll post some more photo's if anyone wants me too, just let me know
cheers.

2.
+1 on Malcom at Guitar Emporium, top service.

There's also a couple of second hand dealers to check out, http://www.fareastguitars.co.uk/ spring to mind as the main one, but you'll have to email him to see what's coming in on his next delivery and reserve it before it goes on the site otherwise it'll be gone sharpish :)
a big +1 for John at far east guitars,if you check his site their's a lovely 75 ri Jazz that he's just sold---now i wonder who bought that

he's a top bloke to deal with, i ordered & paid wednesday lunch time & my bass arrived at 8:40 thursday,i kid you not.
plus it's even nicer in the flesh than it is in the pic's,just as John said it was.

3. personally i love Ernie Ball group iv flats in 40-95 gauge.
both of my jazzes are strung with them & both sound great.
tension wise the sort of half way between the floppy TI's & the high tension Labella's.
i find them great for everything i play, they make for very good slap playing too (but unfortunaley i don't)

4.
^^ love that V4 - in Dave's pics it looked more green.

Awesome bass btw - I held back phoning him about it,my bank balance is better for it but I'm now a bit sore with snoozing and losing on this. anyway congrats on scoring a great bass!
cheers, it's a beaut' for shure.
it is more green in real life, just the flash makes it look a lot bluer.

5.
Thanks for all the info guys!

yeah man i'd love to give it a try............or i could just buy it off you when you decide to sell it :) hahaha

cheeky

no this one's definately a keeper (now where have i heard that before ?)

6.
Do stacked pots actually change the sound of the bass much? I always liked the look of them...

Oh, and are the maple necks on US Jazzes laquered these days? That one looks unlaquered, which is the one thing that annoys me slightly about my Sadowsky.
:) those stacked pots do look cool i agree, the only difference is a seperate volume & tone for each pup,it only makes a subtle difference really.
the neck on mine as finnished in a satin/matt finnish.

btw it's not a patch on the Bacchus.

7. my Jazz is absolutley the best bass i've ever owned,it plays like a dream & it's built quality is second to none.
i took it to my local jam session last night & it drew many comments for both its sound & playability.
infact my brother (he's a guitarist by the way--sorry) is an avid Fender collector but after seeing my jazz is now wanting a Bacchus strat' & a tele'.

Jazz bass perfection.

Chris if you are ever in the Harrogate area you're more than welocme to call in & have a go.

8.
I would love to put my nose in between 'em and go motorboating...would probably break my shnoz but it would be damn worth it!
i'll have one of what ever your drinking mate :)

9. thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated.

i have to say the Bacchus far outshines the Fender in all aspects & it's handbuilt too,i really can't express how good this bass is.
if you get the chance to try on you'll really want one too.

10. after much swapping & trading i think i'm finally happy -- er well for now.
i've only the two basses now & really love both of them althought one is far better than the other one.
here's a group pic'

first up my 2006 MIA Fender Jazz with the S1 swapped for nice stacked knob jobbies & the stock pickups swapped for a pair of Dimazzio ultra jazz's (thanks to Chrisdabass & Clarky respectivley)
i bought this new in 2006 & then sold it on here & after a couple of owners i bought it back off Clarky & i'm mighty pleased i did.

nice bass indeedy,in fact the nicest modern Fender jazz i've ever played.

next up my Lurvley Bacchus "62" jazz bass

i just traded this from another B'C'er (thanks eubassix) & have to say this is the very best jazz bass i've ever played-infact i'd go as far as to say it is the very best bass i've ever played period.
i'd not heard of Bacchus before but this is built better than any Fender i've ever owned/seen & i've had some nice ones,it absolutley knocks the spots of my Fender in both playabillity & sound--it is AWESOME,must buy some more someday.
cheers.

11.
I have one of these - same as Artisan's but rosewood - and I do really like it but the lack of passive switching is a serious weakness.

Artisan, I remember you were looking into adding a passive switch. Did nothing come of that?
i thought about that, then wiring the bass fully passive but decided i didn't want to butcher a perfectly good bass + i prefer the sound of my passive Jazz especially my Bacchus--now that is a nice bass.
i do miss the P dlx a little bit just for it's looks but i much prefer my jazz's.

12.
Holy sh*t that's one sexy bass... too bad I can't afford it until I've sold some other things. So I hope you have a good trade!
thanks Matt, looks like it's going today though.
thanks for the interest people :)
