i can't slap to save my life but i can't stand that style anyway (no offence to anybody intended) so thats a no no,but i've noticed all the shop assistants in the world think they're slap masters.so i'll play pretty much whatever comes to mind, altough i nearly always play "Phantom of the Opera" at some point.
when i tried my deluxe p bass i lost a whole hour,i've no idea what i was playing but i walked out of the shop a grand lighter but with the best bass i ever played. -
Haveyou read "Classic 90's Randall Bass Heads" and "Bits from a '62 Precision" by Jaco Geddy-Mingus?
Lovely pictures

P.S: I dislike all non-alltube Ampeg amps....worst experience for me was SVT3/SVP Pro :-(

Thanks for your views, Soulfinger - even if they do add to my confusion. What style(s) do you play?
not exactly the same i know but i have a cube30 that i use for home practice & quiet band rehersal,i think is a fantastic bit of kit, sounds good too.
i play blues/rock & use P & J basses & it sounds great,in fact if it was a bit louder i'd happily use it for smaller gigs. -
i agree it's a total rip off but if i was to win euromillions tomorrow i'd buy anyway, but lets face it that aint going to happen.
bugger -
i spotted this little beauty today
http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/web/o...asses/item/5887
so i emailed them to find out how much more than i can possibly afford it is,
taking offers over £28,000.00 but if i could i would
oh why can't i win the sodding lottery -
I just like new things basically, I will admit I buy to make myself happy for 5 minutes before the remorse kicks in.
hammer----nail----head -
there's no better feeling than getting a new bass home for the first time, for me anyhow, coupled to the fact i just love looking at basses.
also i'm very impulsive,i can be reading a book which has a photo of say a really nice Jazz/Precision & i just have to have one like it,can't help myself.
i know it won't make me a better player but what the hell I NEED IT. -
i bought one just before christmas,amber/maple & it's the best bass i've played in the last 30 years period.
it's absolutley awesome in all respects, infact it feels like it was custom built just for me-if you know what i mean.
build quality is second to none & an awesome variety of very usable tones, i love it.
get it bought -
i owned a black one & have to say it was a really nice bass, the only downside for me was the preamp-i just couldn't get "that" sound from it,but i am a fussy old blues fart.
i should think it will excel in a rock/punk type of band, but they do look cool don't they. -
that Jazz is beautiful
-
my band have supported 9 Below Zero 3 times & really enjoyed it.
Gerry was a top bloke on all occasions but i have to say that on those same 3 occasions that Dennis was a total arrogant prick.
shame really as my brother/guitarist used to be a fan-but alas no longer. -
i just bought Clarky's ( & my old) 2007 Jazz bass.
chuffed to bits with the bass it's a minter just as Clarky said it was.
really nice guy to deal with & very fast(i.e. next day)delivery.
all in all Clarky is a top bloke, hell i'd even trust him with my wifes chastity belt key
Neil. -
