And yes I love my ADP (with flats).
cheers for the advice mucho appreciated ;)

2.
Hey Artisan. I've the exact same American Deluxe P and I've only ever used flats on it. Started with Fender stainless steel flats but then for ages used TI Jazz Flats. Recently I've been trying D'Addario Chrome Flats but I expect to go back to TI Jazz Flats.

Flats are fine on this bass. And I've strung all of them through the body without any problem. I've heard though that La Bellas do not work through the body.
cheers for that E'T',looks like i'll have to top load them then which is a shame but never mind.
i've tried TI's before on my '62 R'I' P bass & found them a bit "floppy" so i gave them to a friend who loves them--dohh.
where as i've got La Bella's on my Jazz & i absolutely love 'em to bits.
on the subject of TI's,whats the tension like through body ?
cheers.
as for these basses-bloody awesome arn't they, just a tad bright with the rounds on for me.

3. i nearly always use flats on my passive Fenders but i was wondering what my deluxe P would sound like with flats on it.
yes ok i'm too tight to buy a set & try them,i am a Yorkshire man after all.
also would they be ok strung throught body or would i be better top loading them,
cheers.

4.
They also have some at the Bass Gallery in London, but didn't have my gauge in stock.
I had to get mine from Thomman in the end. Had to pay over the odds, but I don't plan on changing them so figured it was worth the investment.

Andrew
cheers,i saw them on there earlier but i'm far too tight (aka Yorkshire) to pay that much for them.i may have to put a heavier gauge set on & see how i go ;)

5.
Try musicground in Manchester or Leeds... they had some on display the last time I was in there about 3 or 4 weeks ago
;) never thought of them,cheers

6. +1 to the above threads.
i have to say one thing that gets my goat is when a buyer starts negotiations via PM to buy my item,we get to the point of almost completing the sale then they stop replying to my PM's,if you change your mind then bloody well say so.
this has happen with 2 B'C'ers very recently whilst negotiating a trade for my '62 r'i' P bass & it's damn annoying.

sorry,rant over

7. i had an MIM classic 60' jazz bass which was ordered in especially for me. on initial inspection it looked good, however once i got it home & tried to set it up i found the neck was a real mess.the frets below the 15th fret were not anywhere near level, the nut was fitted too far down the neck & cut too deep so the stings were resting on the edge of the fretboard (& digging into the wood). also the neck had a very bad foreward bow that no amount of truss rod twirling would sort out.
Fender did eventually replace the whole bass & the new bass was a belter,so i'll not be buying any more basses i've not actually played again,be it MIM or anywhere else.

ok i'll shut up now ;)

stop fannying about & just buy it ;)
you know you want too.

9. in butterscotch blonde just like this one-

i've only had this bass for 2 months & it is in absolute mint condition.
it's a real beauty & plays a dream, sounds awesome too with its nice solid ash body.
i seem to have too many basses & not enough cash hence my reason for selling it ;)

price is £400ish but i'm open to offers.

10. "chill out, feel the song & keep it flowing along, but above all DON'T BLOODY SLAP IT."

this was the advice i got given by my brother when we formed our blues band 15 years ago as he was big into blues but i'd not really listened to it before.
i listerned to a lot of Tommy Shannon's SRV stuff,Jimi Hendrix (especially when Billy Cox was playing bass) & of course Jack Bruce's Cream stuff. also listen to anything by a band called "THE HOAX" their bass player,Simon Davey, playes some really nice lines.

11. if you open your shop i wish you the best of luck mate ;)
personally i prefer to buy my basses form a shop as i like to make shure the one i'm buying is a cracker (i'm a pretty good judge btw :P ) where as buying from the net is a lottery as you may get a cracker or a crapper.
in the last 3 years i've spent a fortune in local music shops,let me think--EBMM 'RAY / MIA JAZZ / VM JAZZ / MIM P / CORVETTE D'BUCK / CORVETTE FRETLESS / MIM 60s JAZZ / CIJ '51 P / MIA DELUXE P / CUBE 30 / SVT3PRO/ B410HLF + various straps & leads.
i think i believe in supporting my local shops - - - good on me :)

12. i'm with tBBC,it's all about fun for me & to be honest i can't be arsed to learn how to read music & in my 30 years of playing i've probably learnt all the theory i'm ever going to need,& i didn't have to read music for that.
i'm mainly a blues/rock player & have written a fair few songs over the years, although i will admit it would sometimes have been handy to actually "write" the song down on papper correctly but hey who cares ?
i'll just stick to playing for fun thanks.
