Nice bass by the way & yes direct to out put jack for finding what your pups are likeby them self. To rewire its easy with 4 new pots & 2 caps some wire & solder . I recommend find a wiring dia off SD etc & have a go your self , its not that hard.
cheers i love this bass it's a real cracker.
i don't think i'd dare do this myself i'll set my bass on fire -
I've always meant to look into the possibility of installing a switching option to allow passive use on mine. What do you reckon, is it feasible?
i thought about that but without the preamp on i don't think you'd be able to adjust any tone settings or even the pickup pan control. -
I know this model fairly well and confirm the pickups will have a reasonably healthy output for passive performance. If you can carry out the work yourself - fine, but if you need any help and can make it to Newcastle I could do the necessary for a small fee
thanks Doc' much appreciated.
there is a tech in Harrogate called Andy Eagle is he can't do it or doesn't want to do it i'll fire up the sat nav & give you a call.
you're a gent. -
thanks guys,i'll give it a go
mrcrow--thanks for mentioning the jack i never thought of that.
cheers -
hi,i really like my American Deluxe P bass but i'm more of a passive kind of bloke so i wondered how difficult it would be to convert it
into a fully passive bass.
what i had in mind is to bin the preamp & wire the bass up with 1 x volume & 1 x tone for each pickup as there are already 4 pots on the bass.
ala-
would the stock pickups be ok (they are passive i believe) & would this be a fairly simple job to have done ?
cheers guys. -
i love my SVT3-PRO,it certainly doesn't lack for punch in fact it's the punchiest amp i've ever owned.
i previously had a GK1001RB-11 & the SVT just blows it out of the water & gives me the best "old school" bass sound i've ever heard.
the GK was plenty loud enough but just lacked the depth of sound that i like. -
Great taste Neil but I'm taking it a stage further...I'm after an anodised gold scratchplate for it and then I'm going to paint my yoohoo gold.
Lookin' good Jake and I didn't think I'd say this but now I've seen it in the flesh, I quite like the blingygoldness. Ta for another smooth M62 car park rendezvous.
good taste eh?
it's a cracker in-it -
i stuck a Gotoh 201 on my old MIM P bass & had no problem getting a pretty low action,no shims req'

you lucky bar-steward you--
a new Precision + a set of La Bella medium flats & you're sorted, you'll bloody love it.
have fun. -
just get in there & record them, you'll be fine.
when we recorded our first CD we laid down 12 tracks on day one, added some vocals & mixed it on day too,all done while consuming loads of beer & having a rite laugh. -
beauty is in the eye and all that !....its actually sold now and awaiting the installation of a chrome humbucker in the neck position....
nice one,tbh i'm supprised it didn't sell on the day
as for the fretless we talked about,i'm working on the missus ( )i'll let you know if i get an order number -
i really liked your black jazz,it played very nice indeed & as mentioned above the scratch plate is a tad ugly but hey for £200 it's a bloody bargain.
-
check out the Roland cube,i had mine at the Harrogate bass bash yesterday & most people who played though it were very impressed with the tone & amount of bottom it chucks out.
-
i've got Dimazzio ultra jazz pups in my jazz & they sound fab' imho.
-
a big thank you to all involved in organising a great sunday afternoon's bassness,it's nice to meet a few of you all at long last --roll on the next one.
-
i'm going to bring all 3 of my basses, 'cos they don't get out much, & i was going to bring my Ampeg rig but being a fat lazy bastard i'm planning on bringing my Roland bass cube instead.
if anyone wants me to bring the Ampeg i will, but it'll cost you a pint of lager -
i'll buy a ticket at the do,so it'd better be a winner-----or else........
-
i can confirm that this is a cracking bass,'cos i bought it new & pimped it myself ,it's the best MIM P bass i've ever played.
-
my Jazz has a pair of Dimazzio ultra jazz pups fitted & it sounds ace, like a jazz just more & a hell of a lot punchier.
i'd strongly recommend them. -
13 is the norm' i think.
at lease that's what all my P's had. -
Country is a wide definition these days so blanket statements like this are pretty silly. Steve Earl is country and I think He's great!! Only Martians hate country!
WE COME IN PEACE.............................TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER -
Why thank you kind sir. Certainly has more of a ring to it that Blues

Jon Shuker put a passive switch on my Stingray. He replaced the treble knob with a push/pull knob that when pulled out, the bass was passive and also worked as a tone for the passive mode too. It sounded lovely.
Not sure how he did it as electrics are pretty-much witchcraft to me.
lol it should be called electrickery i reckon.
that may be an option though-cheers.
