Yes - I had a pre CBS Precision - horrendous dead spots on the G string at C (fret 5), C# (fret 6) and D (fret 7). It meant I had to play lines involving those notes on the D string higher up (which seems to be how some of the 60s players got over the same problem on similar basses). This was not an EQing problem (as issues a handful of people with Stingrays have do seem to be).

However rather than periodically whining about their problem, why they don't just alter their playing style/position to avoid the issue, or simply buy a different bass - it really is reminiscent of young children moaning about something periodically (or constantly)....... 😬 and really just as irritating.

I have to say that my Musicman Stingray Classic is one of the best bass guitars I've ever played - the quality of the whole thing is just superb. A pity you don't seem to be able to buy new ones any longer - but great for existing owners as the values will increase 😏👍

    You're such a Stinging fan boy 🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Are you Big Poppa

Another 'thing' I hear is that Fenders usually have dead spots thing. I've owned many Fenders over the years (and other brands) and have never experienced dead spots on any of my basses.

Either I've spent the last 30 years being incredibly lucky or I'm just completely ignorant to such things!

    I hope I'm lucky 🤔😄

    Right, as you were...

Me neither in 41 years, never had a bass with a dead spot & I have owned a ridiculous number of basses.

  3. Well for what it's worth I have owned 3 stingrays over the past few decades, all 4 string single H.

    3 band - quiet G string

2 band - quiet G string - a Nordstrand pickup helped but still not perfect

    2 band classic  - quiet G string

Used in totally different genres over the years & every one of them had a weak G which just disappeared in a live mix, hence each was moved on fairly quickly.

I do like the look & feel of them, especially the classic, but they just don't work for me.

I do wonder if the new ones are any better.

  4. Best cab I have ever owned is my current Markbass NY122 as recommended to me by Drew who used to own GBBL.

Really nice tone with my Darkglass MT900 & nicely controlled low end,I really don't like super deep boom.

It's small, light & massively better built than my Barefaced BB2 was.

  5. This is the Mk1 version of the pedal bought brand new my me from Gear4music in March this year.

It is in mint, unmarked condition, has never had velcro stuck on it & comes with the original box + manual etc.

I'm selling it as I prefer my Alpha Omega so don't use this enough to warrant keeping it.

It is a great overdrive & very versatile with a heap of sounds available from a gentle bit of grit to absolute menal all on crunch.

Payment via bank transfer preferred or PayPal family & friends option.

Collection from Harrogate is fine too.

Postage at cost is also fine

It's not just you mate. I've found myself looking at basses again recently that I really don't need, can't afford, and if I'm honest, don't even want.

No prospects of playing live any time soon, even without the Covid restrictions. We're a new band doing all original stuff and still very much in the writing / rehearsing stage.

That being said, I still keep trying to convince myself that I need a P bass for recording. I don't even like P basses!

    Errr yes me too,

Eeer I've gone & bought 3 new Dingwalls since March.

Eeer but I did trade one in for a different model, for absolutely no real reason really.

    So that's ok them

    GAS what GAS

Happy NBD from a fellow Dingwaller. Are the controls Volume, Tone, P/U Selector? And is the tone the regular sort, or does it cut mids when turned past a notch at the mid point?

    Cheers.

Yes the pickup selector is the middle knob.

As far as I know the tone control is a standard one,but I'm not certain as I've not really touched it much.

  8. well it was Friday actually 😅

I struggled to sell my D roc which was a surprise,so contacted Mark at Bass Direct who gave me a very generous trade in offer against a Canadian Dingwall.

So here it is,my gorgeous ABZ & I couldn't be happier,it makes a fantastic partner for my Combustion.

    Ash body,Wenge fretboard & totally passive.20200718_130710.thumb.jpg.c7d6eb43348d295e695fbe0c44687575.jpg

Compared to the Chinese made Dingwall I have to say the Canadian made one is definitely of a much higher quality & it shows when playing it.

Not that I'd dis a Chinese Dingwall, they too are totally awesome basses.

  9. £1000

OK priced for a quick sale before the Canadian Dingwall I'm chasing dissappears.

Bought new from bass direct in March & with lock down has never left my living room.

In immaculate as new condition with no marks/scratches of any kind.

Sounds just as good as it looks.

    Sorry no trades

Collection only as I don't have a box or packaging & at this price I'm not chasing around to find one.😁

Payment via bank transfer please, absolutely no PayPal cheers.

I can understand where you’re coming from, even though I’m a die hard Fender fan boi. I suppose due to the number of them around they can seem a bit Volvo & Labrador.

Hey steady on Lozz, you'll hurt Pippa's feelings
