1. his slap is quality from bout 4.40 on the vid defo gonna try that out most likely be sh*t at it tho very impressive overall, don't think i could be that good no matter how much i practice jealous of his talent
  2.
On Friday, I had a half hour to kill and went into my local music store to look around and buy a cable and a set of strings. I ended up leaving with a brand new Rickenbacker 4003! The wife wasn't impressed!
holy sh*t man, think that deal might come with free divorce papers! worth it for a ricky tho hope they chucked in some goodies for that big buy
  3.
Sorry to hear that, usually this method helps remove pick scratches and minor lacquer blemishes, it is evident the scratches you have are deeper than the clear coat of varnish.
don't think they are too deep really have to hold the bass right up to a light to notice them, think another once over might do the trick. at least the bass is mint in one respect
  4.
The berst result is obtained by using toothpaste, which is something you all have at home, toothpaste containes abrasive micro granules designed to midly polish your teeth enamel without causing damage and it works wonders on lacquered wood surfaces, plastics, and even some chrome metal parts. Put some on a soft cloth, apply to the body in a circular motion without digging into the lacquer too hard, allow to dry then polish away with another clean cloth and admire the new shine in disbelief!
just tried the toothpaste trick, slightley unsuccessful, left it with a nice shine but the scratches are still there although they are less noticable i've repeated the process 3 times, i'll give it another shot the get t-cut in.

what a great looking bass. what kind of trades would you consider in case i've got something that might tempt you
  6.
I'm full of admiration and jealousy for anyone capable of building such an instrument and it's lovely to see people come up with different designs. A friend of mine built himself a guitar (including the neck and if I remember incorporated a midi bridge an internal switching for an Axon controller) which was quite amazing too see in it's various stages. Great job.
totally agree, would love to make my own but can't even setup a bass so not much chance of making a hagguy original. this one looks great nice and original aswell but not in your face or over the top. hope your hard work pays off and it serves you well btw the emg's will grow on you great pickups in basses or guitars
  7. done the same myself a few years go bought a marlin guitar from ra music in falkirk for £70 loved it, cracked neck and all, can't beat a wee bargain in a local shop.
  8.
I use T-Cut on guitar bodies. I would have no qualms about using it on a modern poly finish. Obviously don't use it on oiled/waxed finish.
its a really shiney finish looks to bright to be nitro, most likely poly honestley didn't think t- cut would work does it not come off on your clothes or leave any residue?
  9. i've got my esp up for sale at the moment and i think it would sell if i could get the finish looking spot on what happened to the finish is, pick marks. they arn't deep just surface. i've seen scratch remover for cars and t-cut but i'm not sure if there is something similar for guitar finishes. i have listed the damage in the ad but would like to get it back to it's best even if i dont get rid of it. any help would be appreciated. thanks ian
  10. the flats round debate rears it's head again they both have good points. i can't slap as nice on my flats but they feel great and the fret noise from round is horrible next to flats. comprimise go for elites groundwound best of both. from my first go at flats i can say they are the dub reggae smooth sound delivered immaculately, they are slappable in a slightly muted tone which is cool. sandy basic with flats is stunnig imo. get some groundwounds on your p bass and you will be a happy chappy no doubt all the feel and sound of flats with brightnest im feeling envious now
  11.
I had a look at a Sandberg basic on here for 450 i think recently. I've only heard amazing things about them but it was snapped up rather fast! I just wonder if i'd ever need anything more then that deep warm p bass thump. I mean it'll work perfectly 90% of the time but we have a couple of slap licks...
tbh gettin a p bass sound out a basic is easy flip it onto passive little bit of eq and your there. i had mine up on here for £450 and got no interest, and i withdrew it stuck some flats on for a change of pace and its amazing, played along with maiden for a while pushed the active knob in and your into a great slap tone for some ratm. have a look at an ibanez atk just like a stingray but can get one for £250 sounds to good to be true but they are very impressive, defo worth a look
  12. if your into the p bass sound and have a mm pickup bass at the moment, have a look at the sandberg pm shaped like a p bass but also has a mm pick up, build quality is great and they are very versatile. i have a basic and its unreal the tone options from one mm pup with active and passive on a push/pull knob a great feature i seen a red stingray in the for sale thread for 650 been there a while sure 600 posted would buy it. i pm'd the guy seems open to cash offers worth a try. good luck with the search you have plenty options with 600 spare sure you will get a good one. don't suppose you play five string i'll sell you my esp
  13. thanks for all the advice well armed t get a good rick now cheers ian
  14.
Good plan - if you were considering up to £750 on a Faker then it's not unrealistic to save a few quid more & get a real one - there are still occasional bargains to be had, especially if you'd consider importing. Personally I think Rick copies are a whole other thing to real ones, and not really a substitute. I love 'em both! J.
tbh the ibanez i seen on preloved appealed to me because the guy was open to offers and trades, plus i'm a big ibanez fan, think they are great build quality. saying that i think the price is hopeful at best. i'd heard that rick's have a few issues with quality which put me off in the past, but they look awesome and i'm sure if i bide my time i'll get hold of a good quality rick on here, think i'll take a trip into glasgow check out a few out make sure it's not just gas. just out of interest which one would you recommend? 4001,4003 not sure what the differences are. which copies really stand up quality wise? prefer an owners POV heard the truss rods are a nitemare, is that a particular model? thanks in advance. cheer ian
  15.
No way is £750 reasonable for a 35-year old JapCrap copy. No way. The Ibanez copies were about the least accurate 4001 clones from that era, and since at least 9 out of 10 Jap Rick copies now have fake Rickenbacker logos, you can usually be pretty confident that the "Ibanez" Rickenfaker some gyppo's trying to fleece you for is nothing of the kind. None of the modern copies are particularly accurate - most tellingly none of them even try to copy the narrow, near-parallel shape of Rick necks - so they will neither play nor sound like the real thing. That said, the Anniversary-branded example looks fairly realistic, doesn't cost £500, and a few BCers have had them & been quite impressed. Ask Hooky6stringbass - he's had one of these and various other Fakers, old & new. Some of the Japanese copies were frighteningly accurate, and according to reviewers at the time, better-made than the real thing. I currently have 3 vintage MIJ copies - all of mine have been projects to a greater or lesser extent & I didn't pay much for any of them. The problem with 70s ones is that you can't really pick & choose - they come up on Ebay infrequently, usually with dodgy badges, so if you don't know your stuff it will be hard to tell what you're getting - a plywood Korean Hondo looks pretty much the same as the near-perfect Matsumoku clone that's lived as a real Rickenbacker since 1979. And the scarcity of these things means there's not much difference in price. Anyway, there's a Rickenfaker sticky thread in the Ebay subforum, and keep watching Basses For Sale - quite a few members here own them, meaning they come up for sale with reasonable regularity. And keep your eye on Gumtree, go to your local car boot, & check out any local music shops that still do second-hand - they do come up. Jon.
cheers jon good info there, the anniversary one looks ok, but if i'm gonna splash out i think maybe the real deal would be a better option, i'll keep my eye on s/hand stuff and the sticky thread might get lucky cheers ian
  16. i call my sandberg "sandy" not hard to see why but it kinda suits her. been really stuck on my strat lately mainly cos its my only electric now. think i'll name her corrie since she was made in corona. i think its quite amazing how an object can get a personality after a while.
  17. after looking at musicman stuff for a while, ive started looking at rickenbaker type basses. can't afford the real thing yet and not sure they are worth the price tag. i've seen a couple copies ibanez looks good and a tokai which is brand new but not sure of theyre quality. if anyone could point me in the direction of a good quality copy that is being made currently, would be apprieciated. i found an ibanez copy from the 70's for £750 worth it?. i've not came accross a bad ibby yet so that would be the main contender, but if there is other decent ones would like to have a look. thanks in advance
  18. peavey milestone is a good starter, i picked one up from cash converters for £60 great wee bass if you can hold off a bit get some more cash it will give you more options. try some in shops then look for secondhand deals once you find which bass suits you, if you can try the actual bass its better ebay might seem good but is very easy to get burned. try basschat for sale you will get an honest bass here.
  19. that's alot of strat for the cash, unfortunate you can't get the use out of it best of luck with the sale
  20.
Haven't got much in the way of cash at the moment but I do have a: Demeter Compulater - Top end transparant compresser Roland bass Cube 30w Fender Rumble 1X15" 100W Again, all in good condition. spent too much money on gear recently finishing my home studio off but I do have a little too consider as part ex. My son wants new boots for his footy. £60, jesus!
i'm sorted for amps at the moment, think i'm going to keep the strat for now know the feeling with the money, not to flush myself
