2. Aria TAB 66 semi bass in Black Bought this very recently as I have a massive softspot for the look of a semi (oooo matron!). It needed a bit of work doing so it went in to Steve Curtis at PMT Manchester who did:-

Fret Dress
Electrics clean
Full Set Up with Status Flatwounds
Replaced one of the tuning key washers
Really breathy sound as you’d expect from a semi. Two controls (1 x volume, 1 x tone) and a toggle switch for either bridge pup, neck pup or both. The bass is missing its scratchplate (which I think makes it look better). As with the Epiphone rivoli I had (and never learned from) I really am just a simple Precision bass man. The look of a semi often over rules my head and I just have to buy them even tho they don’t really suit the music im playing. I don’t have a hard case so cant really ship but I did buy a Ritter gigbag that fits this bass well. Its hard to find cases/bags with the large hollow body AND a full scale neck. Trials/Viewings are welcome with no obligation. The bass is based in Bolton nr Manchester but could deliver locally (get in touch first). Im after circa £300 for this inc gig bag. Trade wise id consider the Fender Classic 50’s (burst with gold guard) Pics will follow but I did post one in the Semi Hollow thread on the Bass Guitars section of the forum.

7. As much as i love P basses ive always had a soft spot for semi-hollow basses. Been neogtiating with a local crack converters over a black Aria TAB bass and finally settled on a price at weekend. Needs a set up (action is a little high) and defo new strings. I normally use flats but for some reason i think they may be a bit TOO dark on this bass. Ive only had chance to play it at low volumes at the mo but will take it to rehearsal tomorrow and see how the current rounds sound. Might even take the oppertunity to try some Chromes seeing as they are meant to be quite bright. Im also assuming ill need Extra Long scale in view of the bridge/tailpiece setup. Any other TAB 66ers here on BC? Pics to follow
8. Jono bought a set of Flats off me in an effortlessly smooth and easy transaction. Immediate payment and good comms throughout. Deal with confidence, he's one of the good guys

10. Used set of Elites Flatwound Bass strings 45-105 cut for Fender P Bass. The E string on these does wrap around the tuning peg by about half a turn. I emailed the Bass Centre who commission these strings who advised common problem and shouldn’t cause issues. Had maybe 4 hours play so slightly broken in but not dead thumpy just yet. Reason im taking them off is they are too low tension for me (im more of a La Bella/Fender flats type of guy - something you can anchor a boat with). **SOLD**
11. Always pop into these places just in case they are ever selling something they dont quite know what theyve got bass wise and theres a bragin to be head. More often than not its way overpriced crap they theyre trying to flog but its always worth keeping an eye on i guess. Recently, however, ive been keeping an eye on their website and notice they have set prices and a ''Make An Offer' option. However it seems completely pointless! As in, unless you ''offer'' within about £3 of the asking price it just declines. Ive tried emailing and asking whjat ballpark they are looking for but never get a response. Anyone else use their site to try and get bass flavoured bargains and having the same issues?
12. I know this bass is shortscale but the bridge has a tailpeice so was wondering if ill need Medium Scale strings? Any users of this bass on BC?
13. Really struggling to settle on a new number two bass. My main bass is a '76 P bass that I love but I want something a little different as back up. My main rig is a big SVT Valve head through a 4x10 Cab but my mini rig I use most is an Orange Bass terror though a 2x12 Ashdown. I play indie/mellow rock, use a pick and have flatwounds on everything. I like traditional looking basses (not a fan of Jazz's tho) and want deep but clear tones. I also love semi-hollow basses. Below is quite a varied shortlist that I have come up with:- Ibanez Artcore AGB140 Looks great with the semi hollow design yet retains the long scale neck. Could do with a gibson style pickguard but I would image with my fave flatwounds on this could be a thump monster. Hardcases that fit are hard to come by tho. Epiphone Thunderbird A bit out of left-field this one. Always loved the look of them and the sound the Kings Of Leon guy gets with his using flats. Seen a good deal on a Korean one with hardcase Epiphone Jack Casady (Black) Probably the coolest looking one and the one ive played in PMT was lovely. With flats it could be great but this is the one that creeps up on the price scale. Fender/Squier Cabronita Bass Much more in keeping with my precision love and traditionalist styling. I did actually have one but got rid as the E string pole on the pickup was so far off that the note bloomed rather than the instant attack the other strings had. Ive since read that this maybe down to me buying a lemon rather than a standard fault. Worth giving it another chance? I know the obvious thing to do would be try them all and see but as we all know most good deals are online and no shop certainly round here will stock all the above at the same time. Budget wise id say maybe £200-300 tops as it literally will be a back up bass. Any advice greatly recieved

15. Been in a studio all week with my trusty P bass and all is going well. They had a few basses hung up around the bass and inbetween takes i was noodling on a Korean Epi Thunderbird loaded with some ancient looking flats. Now im a flats player through and through, have them on everything i own but ive never seen them on a T'bird before. Didnt get chance to plug in but was wondering if an BCers regularly play a flats loaded Tbird?
16. ON HOLD for the man from Cardiff while i source packing ting
17. Mmmmm 4 x KT88 style amp drooooooooool
18. Just got myself an Orange bass terror for a bit of a mess around with and the speakon-speakon lead that came with it has confused me. At one end is a neutrik connector labelled NL4FX and the other end a neutrik labelled NL4FC. Im plugging the bass terror onto an Ashdown VS212. Basic question - is this the correct lead?
19. Snagged one of these for a mess around with in a good deal form the local Crack Coverters. However, the bulb on the front panel isnt working. Anyone know what/where the best replacement bulb can be found for these?
20. No love for the TC? Ive added a couple of trade options. Prefer cash sale but a nice black Epi Jack Casady would be nice too

23. TC RH450 with official TC satchel/holdall, AUX cable and speaker lead. Good condition bar 1 ding in the handle (at the back so out of view) and 1 of the memory buttons has a hairline crack (common on these apparently). Only thing i cant seem to find at the mo is the instruction manual but these can be downloaded from TC. Works perfectly - just using my SVT more. Any trial with you cab and bass or mine. We rehearse Wednesday evenings if you want to really crank it. Collection from Bolton preferred but guess i could arrange postage if i can get hold of some packing materials. Can deliver locally and Do travel a bit so could be something done there. £375 Delivered in UK. Wil knock off some for collection which is preferred (say £350?). Random potential trades = Black Epiphone Jack Casady, Fender Classic 50's P Bass Sunburst
