1.
Trace Elliot!!!!! AH400SMX, 1048, 1153, Early (70's?) GP11 1x15 combo...
No, early 80's mate. Not sure there's anything in existance from the '70s, they only really started up 1978 IIRC? But anyhoo, lovely
 2.
Careful there - Eden's Nemesis combos put out their full power before an extension cab is hooked up. Their outputs are actually lower when an extension cab is hooked up. I'm not aware of any other amps that are wired like this, but there could be. Mark
That they are. But Mike has an Ashdown combo I think?!!
 3.
Isn't this merely a 'lets give the newies who haven't got money or a big rig GAS' thread?
Yes, yes it is. Well, in fact, it's a "let's give everyone GAS" thread. I'm beginning to feel like I need a Marbass rig or something ickle at the mo.... Or an Ampeg stack. Or maybe an Eden thingy.
 4. Main amp is the V-Type combo, so that would be a hybrid. I guess the 12-band is almost a hybrid (same theory as john_the_bass!). Oooh, recording with both tomorrow: V-Type - gonna be mixing the DI'd pre-EQ signal with a mic'd signal, wohoo! 12-band - DI post EQ Well, that's my little egg of a theory anyway
 5. Function band - have our own Macki PA and a soundman. Originals - whatever's in the venue, unless we need to provide something in which case the drummer has a small vocal PA.
 6. I suspect that the early Trace's had wadding then when Kaman took over the costs were decided to be too high and the wadding was removed. In the next couple of months mine are both going to have some put in them, when i get round to it....
I lived in Haroldslea Drive, then got married and went downmarket to Thornton Close (near the Swimming Pool) - only good thing about that address was it was a short crawl across the playing field to the 6 Bells Pub! Do you mean 40-odd or 40 odd people? Caterham's easier to get to from the M25 than Redhill - its just off J6.
40 odd people, definitely. Hell, we'll all be talking bass!! Not sure there's much in it between Redhill and Caterham from M25 Jcts 8/6 respectively to be honest. Ah well, I'd better carry on thinking of locations....
 8. Earlier Trace's used Fane speakers, I think they changed over in the late 80's/early 90's to Celestion, though someone else on here (DrP please!!) may be able to give more accurate dates. AFAIK, none of the Trace speakers ever had wadding in, mine certainly don't.
I have an old Trace Elliot 1518 cab which I've had for about 6 years now. I don't know how old it is but it's from sometime before they carpet covered them and I had reason to take the speaker out last week. It turns out it's a Fane whereas I was expecting a Celestion - was I wrong or do you think the previous owner(s) changed it ? Could this be why it sounds brighter than I was expecting for a 15 inch cab ? Also, there was no sound damping wadding at all in the cab, does anyone know if there should be ? Thanks in advance, Steve.

Thats no-where near Caterham! I used to live in Horley, plus I went to school (eons ago!) in Whyteleafe so I remember the Angel. Lucky you, nice place to live. Back to the topic - Oxted County School might have a big enough hall - the school's huge... Plus the pubs in Old Oxted are worth a trawl, and its on a main trainline from London.
Hehe, but methinks Graham has links to a school in Caterham y'see. It's not that far, only about a 10/15 minute drive from good ol' Redhill. Sorry for thread hijack, but whereabouts in Horley? I spent a whole 6 weeks living there before going back Redhill way... Back OT, the Harlequin has a few Saturdays free but none when I am free. The function rooms can hold 100 people max due to fire regs and size, but with gear etc that would be about 50 people tops. Might be a bit small and uncomfortable if we really do get 40-odd people.
 10. I have a Status Retroactive J which is grand - given you're in lovely Reigate drop me PM if you wanna come try it
 11. When I was in InSoFar we got endorsed by Dean so I got a Dean Edge Q4 bass for cost price, and we got endorsed by Rotosound, so I got lots of sets of strings with discount. No longer in the band, no longer have the deals but not really bothered. I have better basses now (tho I do want to get another Edge at some point coz it was a fine bass for the money) and I can get strings from Status for about 50p a set more than the Rotosound deal.
 12. Here's my "big rig": TE AH300-12, 2103H and 1153, plus my Status Groove 5 And here's my "little rig": TE V-Type Combo
Pleased to join in. I live near Merton, in Deigate, the posh bit of Deadhill. I will try to help with a venue if I can. How many are we likely to need to fit in? I can probably get the use of a small school hall in Caterham. Schools have the advantage of parking although not always next to the hall!
Whereabouts? I'm right on the border, near the Hatch pub
 14.
Other - Overwater Progress III Fretless 5 - guess this could also be considered custom as I selected the woods and hardware etc, with a bit of guidance Have any you guys heard of Overwater?
Yes. Cracking basses!
 15.
MB1. other please state STATUS KINGBASS ARTIST the best of british accept no substitute! all the best MB1.
Other - Status as well! But not a Kingbass, tis a Retroactive J, or a Groove, depending on what colour the tie is which Jon Snow wore the night before on the Channel 4 news.
 16. Why not just add a speaker cab, then you'll be using your amps full power and moving more air? You can slave two together, I've done it in the past and it's been fine - either use fx send or line out, just be careful that the input to th e2nd amp isn't overloaded.
 17.
Hmmm, I can't remember whether the dial that controls the valve section is a mix 0%-100% valve tone or whether it's 0%-50%, i.e. the dial brings it to the same level as the solid state. You can turn the valve stage on and off though, and the amp works in both modes, so I assume the valve isn't totally dead. Eee, and I thought I'd only be worrying about the valves in my guitar amps
The valve dial on your amp controls the amount of gain the valve cct gives. So the further to the right it is, the more gain and the more clipping. It's a "drive" level rather than a "mix" level. I reckon the valve will be fine, it'll just be the sh1tty Sovtek stock job. You could do worse than a Raytheon or Svetlana in there instead (IMHO of course!)
 18.
My band Whitelime are playing at Guilfest this year on the Liveclub stage at 2:15 on the Saturday. View festival lineup here We have discounted festival tickets which we can sell to you for the following prices: Day - £35 Weekend - £80 Weekend Camping - £90 If your interested PM me! All the best Chris (formerly funky_bass_guy)
Cool - enjoy! We're not playing this year coz we're going back to Serbia that weekend (we think.... watch this space)
 19.
However it might be worth replacing the valve it if it's old. Don't pay someone to do that - it take one minute and is dead simple!
Yeah, especially in the TE 12-band amps! I did it one afternoon to play and it was fun (Chris, thanks again ) The stock valve is a Sovtek and I have to say I never liked it that much or thought it did much positive to my sound. Now I have played with some others I changed it for one which is much fuller and grittier and nicer....
 20.
Beautiful, do you have names for them aswell I love the Grooves
Hehe, I don't actually. I used to take the piss out of a friend who named all his basses so it's probably a little hypocritical of me

 23.
you could use the speaker off your combo to your head and keep the volume at 0.
Good point, well made. I'm stoopid!!!!
Finally came accross this thread ! I think the outlook is superb - all we have to do is make sure everyone gets accross before basschat gets terminated. The future is bright, etc...
Basschat or basstalk? Pedantic? Eye?
