1. can luthiers produce good finishes, then? and it is special paint or is it spray?
2. Hey guys I have a question, about purchasing Jazz Basses in a particular colour/finish.. How do you do this, do you order it through Fender themselves? because I havent seen anywhere online that sells a particular coloured bass I think I want http://www.museabuse.com/gallery/albums/us...ngerinebass.jpg Its apparently called 'Candy Tangerine' but a lot of pictures of google are different, some are orange like that but some are also red-ish not orange.. does anybody know a way to order a fender jazz (deluxe) with this colour finish? Thanks
3.
Your bass goes into the input of your amp, FX send goes to the input of your pedals, output of your pedals goes to FX return. If you have the sensitivity on your pedal set to the max and you're still getting feedback I guess you're too close to the amp and you need to rest your fingers on your strings to bring the ouput of your bass down below the threshold of the gate.
okay man, thanks =] i'll have to give it a try sometime tomorrow thanks for the replies everyone =]
4. thanks for the replies, guys well, im on a bubget so I cant afford an NS-2 atm.. I did buy a Behringer model which does the same thing (but obviously not as good) but the ammount that it reduced the signal wasnt significant so I got rid. the artec pedal reduces more of the feedback sound after my effects pedals, so i guess at the end might be the best bet for now.. I have tried using my amps effects send/return but i cant get it to work!! from my understanding, my bass goes into my effects, which then plug into effects send which then the effects return goes into the input of my amp, but when I start playing my bass I hear nothing.. so is something I am doing completely wrong? (this is without my gate in the chain, btw)
5.
yes its a technique problem not the pedals. i had the same problem. i didn't change my action or relief but i worked on my slides and returning to orginal note. don't be lazy and slide up the string, lift clean off and move upto the original note. you could put flatwounds on that will help but will also change your tone (if you try to get a certain tone) you could compromise and put half wounds or ground wounds on. i put rotosound solo bass 55's on my bass. get a great tone and reduce finger noise. imho
yeahh, thats what i do currently, the 'non lazy' part, hehe okay, well, that resolves my string noise issues.. so what about where i should out my gate? sometimes with my amp loud it still doesnt cut out the loud feedback noise it makes.. and thats on the most harsh setting on the gate, too.. do i need a compressor, or am i doing something wrong? =[
6. Hey guys I just got my noise gate through the post, an Artec SE-NGT. Now, my problem is that I use effects live.. one thing that shines through effects REALLY badly, is cause of the high signal they put out, they give a lot of string scratching sounds that I cant have when playing live. There is mainly only one song this happens on, which is a song that has a lot of slide downs , but when i go to put my hand back up to the 12/11th fret area, it produces the string scratch noise.. Now, I have tried my gate with even the lowest sensitivity, which cuts out the hum, but doesnt cut out the string noise.. Is it just because of the gate itself? or is there something I am missing? I can play this piece without the string making scratchy noise but it doesnt sound as pure as i slide down to the 3rd fret rather than the 1st and release my hands off of the fretboard completely and then move it up to the 12/11 area. Is it a compressor i need, or what? im really clueless.. also should a gate be put at the start or end or a signal chain?
7. he advantages of a multi-fx means you have a lot of choice.. the disadvantage is that most of the sounds on a multi-fx you wont use because they are useless (jet engines e.t.c) I go with pedals, due to me being able to get the exact pedal I need for my sound.. you hear a sound you like, research what pedal it is and there you go you have that sound. you said you know which sounds you need, roughly 4-5 pedals so if I was you i'd stick with that. UNLESS you consider the Line 6 Pod XT, which has amp models and stuff with the XT you can make your amp 'simulate' into being another amp model, such as an SVT for a really good drive sound. you can also make it sound as if its mic'd up, and you can change the cabs on it too.. in a nutshell if you know the sounds you want, then get the pedals if you want a wide-variety and have the time to configure and want stuff like amp simulation, get a multi-fx.
8. yup.. I opened a claim because I bought some elites strings off of a website, and had no reply for over 2 weeks to 3 of my emails I opened a dispute, and they replied the same night!! he blamed it to festive season but hmm idk about that anyhow, we sorted it, and he refunded me the cash and also gave me a free pair of strings for an apology anyways.. so I benefitted quite a bit really.. although they were not my gauge, but still they are the standard size, not the medium i ordered but im still not complaining.
9. I say use the floating thumb technique mate, ESPECIALLY since its early on in your playing.. cause if you leave it late (almost 2 years late for me) its much harder to adapt back into your playing, cus for 3 years you wouldnt have done it. It will let you play lighter, and more defining - thus giving you a longer career (if thats what you choose to do) keep the thumb free. when playing the A, keep it on the E. when playing the D, keep it on the A. when playing the E, 'float' it.. will take off a lot of stress on your hand and make you sound better Imo.

18. Hey guys Noticed there is another Muse tribute hanging around the forums, hehe also noticed they are a 5-piece Heres a Youtube to my Muse tribute band. The videos we have atm is of our first gig, we played 10 songs but only have a few up atm. Our set is 2 hours long with our own made backing tracks (not using the actual backing tracks's of muse) We are a 3-piece, and young performers (18 years old). Our singer/guitarist/keys is a vital role and we are lucky to not only live in the same city, but goto the same college and be best of friends! so what more could be more muse-ish?! http://www.youtube.com/user/museictributeband Please comment & rate the vids if you wish, we would be very grateful! I'll also post on here from time to time some gigs that we do (not all, obviously, I dont wanna spam the board!) Take care guys
19.
this is really unfair. im desperate for a cab, have no money, my eminence are slowly dying, and yet there is a free cab going to whomever wants it, from a very nice gentleman who lives about 250 miles away. dark days
Well, you could ask for a dice roll and then offer to pay for a courier to come and pick it up? Arrange for it to ship from him to you.. will cost around £40 but still worth it, surely?
20.
play less loud or don't stand right in front of your amp.
no matter where my pedals are it still feeds back, due to the high gain signal going into the amp from the level of the pedal.
21. Item is now on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...T#ht_802wt_1084
22. I found a gate that I'm gonna buy. Thanks for the reply. =]
23. yeah, it happens while at practice, too.. but im more concerned about live performance of the issue how does a noise gate work? does it only cut out certain sounds? (like feedback) or does it cut out up to a certain db level?
