1. I might be going straight to a gig so I could well have my rig regardless I'm afraid, plus you've missed my pre-amp out of the description! I thought it might be interesting to compare my SVP-PRO to one with stock valves and see if I can actually tell the difference! Cheers! *edit* Obviously I can leave it in the car if there's absolutely no room, didn't mean to sound pushy!
2. HOLY CRAP!!! 3,148.6 MB removed. No wonder it took a bit longer than "under a second"!
3. That's the right one, cheers! I've found "delete cookies" in my internet options from the tools dropdown, but that'll lose all my saved passwords etc wont it? As long as you're all seeing the right one it's fine. Cheers!! *computer n00b alert!*
4. I don't anyone should abstain from the place until it's personal, I'm going on a jaunt around London on Saturday and I'll be going in there (to see what treatment I get as well as what basses they've got) so I'll make up my own mind. It's not as if it's going to be out of my way to have a wander around the shop when I'll be down Denmark St anyways.
5.
...stay tuned Fen folk and midlanders - there's gonna be a show early next year - DOTB Events are currently planning a `Peterborough Bass Event' and everyone is welcome. There may be a couple of star guests there too! Will keep everyone informed etc. Nick
WOOT! I should be going to the SE bash on the 27th, but one closer to home next time would be great!
6.
Crucial strides dude!
Eh?! Can someone just let me know, which side of me is the gu!t*r!st on in that pic? I put one up pic then changed it, but I keep seeing the first one in the thread. I think it's probably just in my 'pooter's memory or something so hopefully you're all seeing the one I wanted you to.
7.
Final some 'action shots!'
BIG POINTY BASS!!!! GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! *that's a good thing, by the way*
8. It's not a huge ammount cheaper that you can buy new off the 'net, but they're not what I'd call expensive new and I think any cheaper might be leaning towards giving it away. I'm tempted, but gotta play one first!

G&L Basses

Cheers guys! Only just got back to the net today so cheers for not disappointing me!
10. Tasty. I reckon a Corvette would probably suit the SC better, but I woudn't turn ahe Thumb down if offered!
11. I didn't listen to all of Space Opera, but I quite enjoyed "Thupty Dumpty" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6waS38HBSg...feature=related It made me think of Les Claypool jacked up on steroids! It's cool, but he seems to slip off the groove to me. Might be that it's me not keeping up tho.....
12.
I'm the fat bloke with the cool hair..... and the bass!!
I'll bet you're a damn sight cooler on stage than I am with this mop! That's an awesome mowie by the way Ou7shined!
13.
With a lot of relief you get buzz when you play on the higher frets. It's because setting up is a balancing act between neck relief and bridge height. Essentially a lot of relief forces you to drop the action at the bridge to make the bass playable at the lower frets, which in turn makes the action too low for the high frets.
Gotcha. Now I've thought about it I have had that problem in the past and it's left me scratching my head. Cheers!
If I'm adjusting my basses (unless it's a new one that's completely out of whack), I'll adjust it in this order... Tune Relief Tune Action Tune Intonation Tune Repeat until happy
+1 on some great advice.
14. Me and my girlfriend had noticed it, she said I should learn it and play it for soundchecks. I figured a bit of ot out by ear but I haven't got it right, and I'm not likely to try much harder! I don't mind the tune, it's just played dreadfully!

G&L Basses

So I'm aware that the comapny was co-founded by Leo Fender after he'd sold Fender, they're based in America and hardly anywhere in the UK seems to stock them. I'd like to know a bit more though as they're really starting to take my fancy. For instance, what's the difference between a USA and a Tribute? I'm guessing one's made in the USA and costs three times as much as the other, but I don't like to assume. Any interesting facts greatly welcomed, as well as any suggestions as to where I might get to have a play on one. I believe there's one going to the S.E. Bass Bash.....
16.
A better way to judge how much relief to put in a neck is to listen for buzz (after all, that's what you're trying to prevent)... If it's buzzing at the lower frets, there's not enough, if it buzzes at the higher frets, there's too much.
Interesting, I was unaware of too much relief causing buzz on higher frets. How does that work? Do you mean when you play the higher frets or that the buzzing occurs at the higher frets?
17. Have you got a 24" steel rule or some other sort of straight-edge you can use to see how much relief your neck has? You can do it by eye but it can be a bit hit and miss, or hold down a string at 1st fret and your last fret and see how much space there is between string and frets in the middle. If your neck arches back (bowing into the strings so that they touch all the way along) it needs relieving, if it's fairly straight with a little forward curve (bowing away from the strings) then you might just need to raise your action at the bridge.
18. Start with an old cheap bass if you can, but there's not a great deal you can do (or are likely to with a bit of common sense) that's irreversable. Like JimBob has said, find some guidlines then play around and find out what works for you. It's not rocket surgery, it can just be a bit daunting at first and it takes some patience. Adjust and re-adjust as necessary, I've never found that it all falls into place first time. Good luck!
19. I know I've asked this before in another thread, but is the Cellar the shop about halfway along Denmark St on the opposite side to Vintage and Rare, with a blue front and a guitar shop next door with the same colours? It's been a while so it might have been re-painted since I was there last, but the door is on the left hand side of the shop front, large window across the rest with the counter backing onto it and a central island of amps with SHED LOADS of basses all the way around the walls? I don't remember getting particularly bad service in there before, they weren't offering to rub my feet while I played but I think I got to try a bass or 2. I might have given it a miss because of how cramped the shop was, but I think I remember playing something in there. I remember a middle aged chap telling me how the LTD edition Warwich Corvette the had in the window was a bargin (and probably that it was the only one, or one of only X ammount in the country) so I must have got some conversation out of them too. I've got near terminal GAS at the moment so hopefully I'll get a chance to rate them again soon!
20. I haven't been for a couple of years, but the low FQ side of things was a bit of a let down when I did go. I've got terrible GAS at the mo so I'll probably leave with a load of stuff I don't need if I do go! Shame it's not before my next studio visit cos I'd quite like to replace my J5 but I don't think it's going to happen.
21. I maybe possibly might be.
