  1. Loving my rig at the moment! Have not been this happy in a while tone wise. But i'm still thinking another cab might be quite nice with it. Loved my Aguilar 4x12 but missed the bottom end of 15's and 18's. But Im thinking a 2x12 may be pretty sweet with my Boogie 2x15. Any body use a set up with that speaker configuration? I have never heard a 2x12 wth a 1x15 so if anybody out there is using one like this some info would be cool. T.
  2. Difficult question to answer. I had an aguilar 4x12 with my last band, and an swr 8x10 before that. I could never hear myself in rehearsal. Honestly. Head was an Aguilar db680 and a 1400 watt Yamaha Power amp. You could look for an old peavey tnt or tko,see them for anywhere between £50 and a £100. Good luck finding what you want.T
  3. hi guys, any idea where i can get some roland tr606 software/samples? or something that can do something that mimics that kind of thing.new to this side of things.thanks,t

    Pedal Pre Amp.

As in a pedal that acts as a tone shaping tool that can feed to the pa or an amp. Does it overdrive like the sansamps? How do they compare?

    Pedal Pre Amp.

Am I correct in thinking that the Aguilar Tone Hammer does the same kind of thing as a Sansamp bddi and an MXR M80? Have never had the chance to try one out. What do peopl think of them? Did a bit of a search but nothing much came up. Thanks,Tim.
  6. Has anybody used an Ipod and microphone to record rehearsals? Want to give it a go but just thought id ask about in case anybody has any tips. I can get hold of one of the micro memo microphones for an old ipod classic. Any info would be great,t

    Knobs!

Right then, anybody know where I can get a set of rubber knobs! Like the ones they put on the American MTD basses and some Spectors. They have usually got a white marker on them so you know where you are. Cant find any! Thanks, T
  8. After hearing so much good about these basses I tried one. It was great.Really, really great. Can only imagine how much better they are with the upgrades. Better than the Mexicans I have tried and better than some American Jazzes I have tried. I tried the new Korean Spectors the other day and preferred them over the Euro's so some things are being done well in these factories. My next test will be to see if they out perform the G & L Tribute range. Any body tested them against each other? And do any of you gig the vmj's? T
  9. That book looks good.found a pick im happy with.blue 1mil tortex.feels good too me! having a sit down with my mate in a few weeks for a few pointers.he has played with a few big names.(Gary Numan, Alison Moyet, Shakin Stevens, forget that one though). just to go through basics.really, really enjoying playing with a pick though.its great.just struggling with the 5 string bit though.anybody know any examples of 5 string pick players in the rock metal genre i can have a look at????t

    Octave

I have a Boss oc2 octave pedal that I have never used.had it for years. Are they any good compared to other octavers out there? Also who would be good to listen to that uses an octaver to good effect? Never used one live. Have heard though that they can cause problems with speakers?any info would be great,t
  12. I tried a few basses out over the weekend. The results are nearly in.possibly. I tried out the lakland,an older sadowsky and a precision. I honestly felt that my L2500 could get near in enough in tone to most of them. I did however try out a few other spectors. A korean one and a euro through neck! I honestly preferred the sound of the korean one. It had the emg hz's in. Same set up as my old one that I defretted. Still got the sandbergs to try out. Unless they really blow me away i may seriously consider a korean spector or maybe a rebop! the precision was nice though! it was a standard. I tried out a few jazzes too. I preferred the standards to the deluxe also.
  13. Is ignorance the correct word? Some people would say the same about spending 3k on and instrument. Just because its more does not make it better. I felt that for the 25 quid I spent on mine I got a good product. It has failed now yes, but thats what the warranty is for. I have spent 25 pounds on other leads with a one year warranty so at the right price they aint such a bad thing.
  14. I felt ridiculous saying it but its true. It did make a difference to both my guitars.
  15. I had an issue with that happening on a Warwick Thumb I owned a few years back. Not been an issue with my G and L or Spector though. But I have been told of issues with switcraft on quality control so this could go either way. These companies and reps for these companies could say something in a local Music shop and it will spread like wildfire. What I will say about my monster lead though, and I dont care how stupid this makes me look, whenever I use it in a studio get a better tone. More to play with so to speak. I have a/b it with other leads and its louder. But according to that post on talkbass monster have rectified the problem so the new one I should be getting back may be too small now for the jack!
  16. Some good links guys, Thanks. Becoming a bit obsessed with this now. As far as playing live with a pick is there much difference eq wise? I know the tone will be different but will I need to alter my settings much? I sound dumb now! Or would I be better getting a separate eq so that I can switch between fingerstyle and pick?

    Soundblox Pro

Anybody know what sort of money they will be?
  18. Had an email from Monster Europe! Monster USA passed on my details to them. A chap got in touch with me to sort out postage and stuff. A soon as my lead gets to them they will send a new one out asap! Pretty darn good me thinks. I have to pay postage into Europe, they pay for it to get back. Costing me about 3 quid. I had my lead on sale. I paid 25 pounds for it. Think they are over 40 rrp. So still a few quid up.T
  19. Top end piece of kit indeed. Always found they sound a bit like the top end MTD basses, which is a very, very good thing! Nice job on getting it.Pics when you get it please. T
  20. Where are you exactly? Best Chap in Swansea area is called Gary Lewis. Top Luthier too. If you want details get in touch. T
  21. I think I am still trying to play the same way I did with my fingers, by still alternating and moving up and down over both pickups and so on. After reading all the bits on here lat night/early this morning I see what people mean about the different thicknesses. I read a few things on other sites too. It looks like some players I like go as thin as.75 with some picks. I sat and played with a 1mil for an hour and that felt pretty good too. So It looks like I will be using between a 1 mil and a 2 mil depending on whats needed. Before this I would never have thought there was a difference.t
  22. Playing kind of post hardcore/punk rock stuff. The kind of stuff I have done in the past but for some reason it feels more natural with a pick this time round.play a five string too so dont know if that makes a difference.who are the pro 5 string pick guys? I know Jason Newstead did ( I think). Went through all my picks today. The 1.5 mil felt good for the lighter stuff but the 2 mil felt better for the heavier stuff.Dunlop picks. What picks do you guys use?
  23. how do the pitchblack and d 10 respond to five string? they both seem good though.t
  24. Right then. After playing for about 10 years properly, I mean using my fingers. I have been involved in a project where the tone and attack of a pick sits better In the process. Just wondered if there are any tutorials out there that would give me some pointers or anything that may be of use. Anything really. Im quite enjoying using a pick but feel that there may be something missing with my technique.T
