1. ...who influences your basslines and gives you inspiration for your own line, or are they all your own style? for me it would have to be Ben Osmundson of Zebrahead, Paul Simonon and Mark Hoppus
2. I can tell you this, they're lighter than the OLP
3. not sure his name, but the bass player from new found glory is quite good, but new found glory themselves are underrated in Britain. I've heard theyre quite big in America, though. greg k from the offspring
4. does anyone have the tab to this? theres a bit behind the solo that has some cool fiddly bits in but none of the tab sites have it in. I'm going to try and work it out, but if anyone has the tab to it that'd be great. EDIT: Its OK, I worked it out now.
5.
This Squier Bronco for me, I got it because it was the cheapest bass I could find .
me too! well, my dad played years before me, so i played his basses for a while. but the first bass that was actually MINE was the red bronce, because it was cheap and short scaled.
6. I've just emailed Jon Shuker about these courses that he runs. its the first time I've ever had anything to do with him, but I've heard great things about him. Have any of you ever been on one of these courses? What are they like? I realise that you make your own bass (or guitar) but I don't know anything else about them. I've asked him about them in my email, of course, but I just thought I'd check out your opinions on here. EDIT: sorry, forgot to add that I'm 15, so if anyone knows whether or not I'm even allowed to do it, please let me know
7.
WOO SOMEONE ELSE LIKES BLINK / +44 !!!! I WAS GONA CRY FI NO-ONE MENTIONED HIM!
hell yeah, i love em both!
8.
Fat Mike, from NOFX!
i didn't realise he was a singer too, ahh well, i'm not a huge fan. dont have a go but i'd say mark hoppus is my favourite.
9. ibanez wouold be my choice, the soundgear is an excellent sounding bass with a very slim neck and a very light body.
10. cool, what is that? i didn't think the marcus miller came in sunburst and i thought it had an ashtray? its not a standard with the marcus miller control plate thing on either because it has a signature on the headstock.
11. i agree with sibob there, we can't be having too many forums. i understand double bass having its own section because (in my opinion) its quite different. but 7+ string players use the same amps, the same strings, the same pickups etc. as four or five string players so I can't see there being much point to it really.
12. i got a black and mirror p bass myself, I'm deciding whether to put a tort scratch plate on. they look cool with the mirror, though, I'm keeping my pickguard till christams when I'm getting new pickups, I'll see if its grown on me more by then. anyway, nice bass!
13. i doubt you'll get more versatile than the ibanez. i get great funky tones (i can't stand jazz, so i've not tried that one out) from my SR500, surely you can get better ones with the SR1005?
14.
1. Wizard - yes you can ring them and they will wind 'em to your spec 2. Where are you getting your Bart prices from? Thomann have ALL the Bart Ps for just over £100.....
thomann. i need a p/j set.
15. i feel stupid now...
16. I'm thinking the wizard thumper and the wizard eighty four. i play punk music, so want that sort of sound, but I'm also in a classic rock band and a heavy metal band. so do you think that seems like a good combo?
17. hope not, because i quite like the deryk whimbley telecaster (aka "bloke from sum 41 sig tele")
18. ok, i'll add wizard to the poll. what do you mean by off the shelf, are wizard custom made? and how much do wizards cost? bartolinis are too expensive, i'm looking for something in the same general price range as the basslines and the dimarzios. £120 tops.
19. i got one of those black and chrome squier precisions on saturday. ive replaced the neck with a fender one and i'm going to put either seymour duncans or di marzios in it. the novelty of a mirror scratchplate wears off pretty quickly, so I'm thinking of putting either a tort or black scratchplate on it. this raises two questions. 1)which pickups? 2)which scratchplate? you can see the bass on the squier site or the actual one here No active pups! (eg EMGs!)
20. o, i think i get it, he plays with stevie wonder, right? that makes sense when i read through it.
21.
I'm guessing you're joking but if not - read the thread you just posted in
I did read it, but is he a famous bassist ive never heard of or is he bass_in_yer_face's tutor? i know hes the massive dude in all of the pictures, but I don't recognise him. what sort of stuff does he play? is he in a band?
22. sorry, I'm lost. who is this "he"?
23. whos nathan watts?!
24. you want to talk to simon1964 for info on the EMGs. i prefer a passive precision sound so i haven't played his precision much lately, but he plays it a lot.
