1. Sounds like a definite luthier job from me! Of course the obvious recommendation is Jon Shuker. I've never heard of Tom Waghorn, but if he's good and he's local, sounds like a plan!
  2. I've only learnt the open strings and dotted notes, and you can work it out pretty quickly from there. So for example 4th fret on the A string, I'd think 3rd from is C so 4th is C#.

Has this happened to anyone else, or just me?
It looks like it's working again now. Hopefully this post will appear with a quote of my OP! EDIT: Yeah, sorted now then! Thanks!

Hamster, done all that, it hasn't worked! I'm using firefox at the moment, I'll try internet explorer in a second, see if that works.

  8. I've only just seen these. They're a bit odd, by the looks of it they're pretty much exactly the same as the FleaBass but cheaper, and come in nicer colours. The only difference I can find on the website is that they have different bridges, surely thats not worth the $200 RRP difference? 9. The bloke from The Specials has got to get a mention, I think he's fantastic, and really underrated!

  11. Yeah, I'm going to be there on the Sunday!
  12. Yeah I gave one a go a little while back at the London Guitar Show or whatever it's called now. They were alright, I seriously considered getting one after playing it. I'd say if you're thinking about it, definitely give it a try, they're not bad basses.
  13. Golden Brown by The Stranglers for me. It's a dodgy time signature.
  14. If you're having problems with the speed it might be useful to do it with hammer ons/pull offs. I know it's not actually played like that, but you can play quicker that way and if it's for a gig in say a couple of days and you won't have much time to practice, then it makes life easier. If you want to play it as Mike Dirnt plays it, I'd say use a pick and just keep practicing. Oh, and I always play it 4th fret D string, but it shouldn't make a huge difference.
  15. To be fair, now I think about it, it's not that useless. I mean for instance, I can see my dad getting one. He's always said he'd like a Mike Dirnt but doesn't like rosewood fretboards. Well this has sorted that problem out for him! But even so, it would be nice to see something more original from them. The last really original bass fender brought out was, IMO, that guy from Alien Ant Farm's signature bass, and they only did that for like 6 months.
  16. Has anyone seen this yet? It looks pretty cool, but honestly I'd rather pay less and get the Mike Dirnt. They're pretty much the same, anyway, by the looks of it. 51 P shape, with a Precision pickup. 17.
I like the string through body...does the original come with that?
Yeah the original was string through.
Have they reversed the arrangement of the whole pickup, or just moved the DG side and left the EA where it always was? Hope this makes sense!
I think I read somewhere that they had simply moved the DG, and it looks like that to me when you look at the picture. But I'm not 100%, I can't remember where I saw that.
  18. I've always been a massive fan of the Mark Hoppus bass and recently finally got my hands on one. I'm glad I got the old one, I really don't like the new ones; the colours don't look right, the reverse pickup just looks wrong, and I prefer the smaller logo. To me all the changes they've made have been for the worse. There's literally not a single change I like there. Admittedly I have a reverse P pickup in my Taitycaster, but honestly I don't think it makes that much of a difference and it looks alright there, but not on the Mark Hoppus, it just looks wrong.
  19. The black version of the humbucker jag will be my next buy!

Treat yourself mate
The fact is though, I currently have £40 in my wallet, and £4.78 in my bank, and no job, still being in full time education. I really can't afford to treat myself.
What audio interface are you using? Chances are it came with a lite version of Cubase (or similar) that will work well enough. Also, try (apart from Audacity and Kristal): http://lmms.sourceforge.net/ http://www.traverso-daw.org/
It did, Cubase LE or something. I didn't like it at all, there were loads of glitches and stuff in it. It wasn't easy to use at all.
Protools free version, probably a bit of learning required though. Audacity is quite simple to use - or as simple as these things get - and has some fans on here.
Where can I get the Protools free version? It sounds perfect, provided it's got all the basic stuff you need. I can't find it on the Protools website. Thanks!
