Here we have my recent purchase from Mike at Purple Chili ! My gorgeous new rig consists of 2 x PCB112NT cabs F1 mark bass head, with one cab I get 300watts at 8ohms and the full 500watts at 4 ohms when using both cabs. The cabs look so cool and retro, with great build quality. The sound is just amazing, I have found my dream rig.

Yeah he made quite a few other guitars, did the proper luithiers courses etc done repair/ servicing work for some quite big names.. There are some great touches like the clear laquer binding and the seemless neck joint. I now have a few other basses but still go back to this and take her out every now and again to rehersals.

Hi all, Thought I would show you a few pic's of the bass my uncle made me when I was 16 years young , one very lucky terrible bass player!!! It was my second bass (first being a hondo!) I spent all year working part time jobs to buy the bits for it as he was making it. It was his one and only bass he made. I hope you agree she is a beauty!!! This is one bass that will never leave me! Mahogany body with flame maple top Maple neck, gold hardware with emg pick ups ( later mod) volume pot, stacked bass and treble active electronic boost, and a pan pot for between the two pickups. Tabbacco sunburst also on the back of the neck which is a great touch, laquar now pretty worn after 15 years of trying to play!! As you can see, i'm not too hot with the camera!

Thanks for all the replies all, I guess it will take me a while to find my perfect strings. Silddx, i do like the sound of the black beauties and the la bella's seem very popular amoungst you guys. Littleal can you send me that link please. I've put some pics up, they aren't very good though so appologies for that.

As title suggests, newish to fretless and loving it. I have a six string that I want to try some new strings on, i'm really geting in to the percussive sounds with slap and love the warm mellow jazzy sounds eminating from the warwick thumb. So here it is, i'm looking for advice on best value make, sound etc... it is a ebony fretboard. Cheers ya all!

Put some new strings on, allways a good place to start! All the best funk and slap came from the 70's and alot of great bassists used the jazz bass. Your bass simply might not be able to give you the sound that you are after its all down to personal prefrence. I would love to have a 70's jazz ( any lefthanded ones about ?) I find my musicman gives me a cracking slap tone.

Has anyone got the sheet music/ tab for diamonds on the soles of her shoes bass line pretty please? If so please share.

The delta bass range was a project between overwater bass and carlsbro to create high end bass range. In my experience the 300 watt amp is a great amp, I have the 2x8 300 watt combo and it is very good indeed ( paid a bargain £100 on ebay!) I also have the 600 watt head which is also very good and a matching 4x 8 speaker cab. As for price, because very few people know how good this range was they are dirt cheap unfortunalty. There was a 600watt one on ebay for £150 which is a absolute steal defo worth getting even for use as a back up amp. ( I am having a clear out so will be selling most of my gear to partly finance a new small compact/ light rig.

Mansons in Exeter is a great shop, not soley Bass sales but do stock a decent selection of gear. On price they didn't quite match the cheapest price I found for my 5 string jazz man but came pretty close so went with them because of there sevice was very good. Talk to Adrian if he's there, he is a very acomplished bass player and author of bass books. He certainly know his stuff.

Try and get hold of a Detla Bass combo, These were made by carlsbro a few years ago. 300w 2x8 inch plus horn. Pretty rare, I had one years ago and was lucky enough to get hold of another one on ebay a couple of years ago for a absolute bargain price of 100 squid!
