Show us your rig of choice for the weekend ** Basschat edition**
BassAdder60 replied to bassace97's topic in Amps and Cabs
Looks spot on to me !! -
Having recently purchased a new TH700 head I played this with my Ampeg SVT212AV cab later adding the SVT112AV to run both ( 2.67ohms ) which the Tonehammer can handle. Gigged it last night and I was very pleased with the result as it was one of the nicest sounding rigs I’ve owned. Very tube like in tone but without the head weight. Powerful deep and warm sound with clarity. This will most likely mean my Ashdown ABM600 will be up for sale soon. It really is that good !

Does Yamaha do something to age their high end guitars and basses to improve resonance etc ? Any way I’m convinced it makes little to no difference on my two basses so something else is more likely such as the pickup not being identical even though they are similar in age Player Series set as close to the same etc Interesting topic !!

And doesn’t he play with a pick ?

This works well Gorgeous tone

Aguilar AG700 might be worth considering? Or Ashdown RM500 / RM800 are nice
-
This makes sense 👍

I can definitely hear a difference.. assuming both basses are made using the same wood for the body ? Which I believe are both Alder

I have two Player Series PBass one has the Pau Ferro fingerboard the other is maple. Both strung with same strings the Pau Ferro is a darker sounding bass. Does the fingerboard really make this difference or is something else the cause ? Pickups all set the same, as is action etc

Thanks Bill 👍

Is BC a community, or just a source of information?
BassAdder60 replied to Rayman's topic in General Discussion
I’m a fairly new arrival to BC around 3 or 4 years and joined to get advice and tips but stayed for the banter, interesting topics and feeling of community. It’s also a great place to get the urge to try new stuff !!! -
Hey folks I currently have the Ampeg SVT212AV 4ohm cab Im looking at adding the SVT11AV 8ohm cab as a 3x12 complete rig My amp ToneHammer 700 is rated for 2.67ohms min load so that seems ok Has anyone ran a combination of these two cabs before ? My thinking is that each 12” speaker with receive 1/3 of the power equally shared across all three speakers. This is my plan !! Thoughts ?

Ok Hi Beams and Lo Riders 45-100 arrived Popped the Hi Beams on and didn’t like them !! I guess I’m a Nickel Roundwound lover as I popped my Fender Vintage Nickel back on and it’s more my sound So I’ve got a 1 day old set of Hi Beams ( cut for a PBass ) 45-100 see classifieds on here

LFSys Monaco and Silverstone 12” FRFR Cabs - Excellent! A review
BassAdder60 replied to funkle's topic in Amps and Cabs
Anyone tried a Tonehammer 700 amp on top of the Monaco cab ? Does the handle get in the way at all ? -
I have two PBass player series and as working basses used in the band they are superb instruments for me. Sensible price and easy to add simple mods like hi mass bridge etc etc Working bass for £700 new is a no brainer for me and they look and play good

Gigged most of the night using a pick and did notice I made more errors and it didn’t feel connected Half way through second set I upped the mids on my amp and played fingerstyle. The only thing it showed is I’m better at fingerstyle and I need new strings !!

In all the working bands I’ve been in ( weekend warriors at best ) we have never needed booking conditions until recently It’s to make it clear that the band needs a certain setup space with power, access to the venue for unloading / loading, parking and our agreed rate and playing time. We nearly fell foul of a booking where clearly inside is too small and they were putting us outside virtually in the frontage next to the road !!! We withdrew our booking and cancelled it. We have now created basic booking conditions stating minimum set up space, power, parking and conditions for performing outside. We were lucky to find a new venue that is larger and has proper space for bands. I think venues think bands are like solo / duo acts where you can shove them in the corner near the toilets or next to the dartboard and think it’s a music venue !!

Which case is the best for a PBass Fender Classic Series Wood or the Fender Deluxe Moulded Case ? I’ve had cheap cases before but want a nice case now that fits bass snuggly
-
Lo Riders in bound !! They are hex core so stiffer tension so it may help tuning to Eb Youre right though as I tune down standard 45-100 nickel wound Fender strings without issue.

Changing A Bass Bridge. Have you done it?
BassAdder60 replied to bassjim's topic in General Discussion
If I recall some of USA PBass have the HiMass bridge .. not sure which model perhaps the Performer Series ? I swopped both of mine ( straight swop ) to Fender HiMass ) and it’s never had an issue with loose screws since. Action adjustment was fine and it in my opinion just looks nicer and has Fender stamped on it 👍 Simplest improvement to a bass and worth doing. Tone and sustain are the same though it just looks better
