  1. 13 is unlucky for some - I think you need another one 😁 Lovely figuring on the top of this one.
  2. Or maybe Alan will send me a WIP picture and I won't be able to resist...
  3. Fully agree. I started playing way back when because I was a Stranglers obsessed 15 year old. I wanted that JJ look but my dad got me a Squier Jazz - black and rosewood. When I got back into playing a few years ago I had a nostalgia trip. Couldn't afford a Shuker but this was a very good alternative.
  4. Going to a shop on 13th of August if there is no interest. 650 with Fender hard case or 600 without. Collected or meetup around Medway or SE London. Can post if you arrange courier. I've let my GAS get the better of me and with three new additions to the stable on their way in I need to make some room (and some cash) so this and a couple of others are going to have to find new homes. MIM but very much at the higher end of the quality scale. Alder body, weighs a lovely comfy 3.6kg and balances well. Previous owner upgraded the bridge, which was the one weak link in the original hardware, to a much nicer Babicz but other than that it is all stock. I don't think this has ever been gigged - the previous owner had it in the studio and I've had it at home so overall it's in really nice condition. Not a ding or scratch on the neck or headstock at all. Paintwork is good, no buckle rash but one small ding on the underside of the body close to the pots (see pic). The scratchplate which is a kind of matte rubber effect is a bit tired. I was going to replace it with a more standard hard plastic one but never got round to it. Playing wise, the neck is fantastic: chunky but great to get around (this is the bass that killed me for Jazz or slim necks in general). Frets fine, truss rod fine. The action can be set super low if you want. Seymour Duncan quarter pounders so it has a strong output. To me it sounds much more at home with rounds than flats, possibly something to do with the brass nut? These came originally with a branded gig bag but it lives in a Fender´deluxe' (ooh!) hard case now. I've seen these going for anything from a grand to 600 quid. In this condition with the upgraded bridge and the hard case I think this is a steal but I need it gone and would rather it goes to someone here than selling it to an online store.
  5. I'll keep the details for the big reveal on here 😀
  6. Lordy, that's a peach Mr Beck! Is this the ultimate refinement of years of clever experimentaton on your part? I know there are some people with quite firm headstock opinions but for me the ACG angled is the best looking one in the business. I actually pulled out your old ACG SS on Sunday after a couple of months in the case and fell in love all over again. With the Ti flats that PB pickup gives some really lovely tones even without the need for preamp. I'm hoping my own ACG NBD is only about 6 weeks away!
  7. Lucky man! I was born in 1974 but my dad played a lot of Gong when I was very young and I credit that for my Ozric Tentacles obsession (Roly Wynne, by the way, was a marvellous bassist - taken too soon). Even by the standards of the time Gong were 'special'. So many little riffs and snatches of Gong and Steve Hillage found their way into 80s and 90s music, especially the ambient stuff.
  8. I always come to your for sale threads just to see that awesome Gong picture in the background and this one certainly hasn't disappointed on that score! Some good looking basses for sensible money, too. GLWTS/T
  9. Bought an Ampeg SGT Di from Joe. Top man to deal with, pedal was in great shape and the packaging was bombproof so it's a 'YES' from me 👍 Edit: he then took the time to send me some recommendations and explanations about how to get the best out of the cab sims, so it's now a double yes with an egg on top 👍👍🍳
  10. What a cracker. Colour match silks as well for the finishing touch. Lucky for me I am a very long way from Whitley Bay!
  11. Quintessential. In my world that is what would accompany any dictionary definition of "bass guitar"
  12. Ah, the things we do from the heart instead of the head are the good stuff. It's a great story and you'll love it when it's done and then you'll pass it on to someone else who will understand how rare and wonderful it is. Having seen the picture of the stain (I'd only seen the solid colour) it's definitely the bokote for me. Looking forward to further updates.
  13. The first one is a lovely bit of wood but if you've got that kind of electric blue body (assuming what I found on Google for aniline blue washburn is accurate) the bokote might work better as it's not so busy
  14. Beautiful bass. Those pickups are so gnarly looking - the equivalent of some 14 hole cherry red docs.
  15. 4 string recurve. 33 inch scale with a PB and RFB pickup combo and the uni pre. Nothing outlandish. A 50th present to myself.
  16. Ewan sold an ACG to me last year, and very happy I am with it, too. It's led me down the path of no return, mind you, because then I bought another ACG on here and now I have ordered one from Alan. ACG: the Pringles of bass!
  17. A stable, I reckon
  18. No worries, sorted one out elsewhere. Hope you end up liking it and keeping it!
  19. Hi. Still available?
  20. Hi. Is this still available?
  21. If I hadn't been hit with a completely unexpected bill for almost exactly 800 quid this morning I'd have been beating a path to your door for this. Good luck with the sale - someone is going to get a fantastic and unique bass!
  22. Oof! I was hoping you'd say it was skinny so I could stop drooling over it.
  23. Bought a very nice P neck from Frank - so I could do the 'proper' PJ combo of J body and P neck! Good price, very easy to deal with, top man overall. Thanks.
  24. I bought Tom's absolutely cracking ACG Skelf. Lovely guy to do business with, did a fantastic job of packing it up for couriering and communication in general and was genuinely interested in how I got on with it. Can't recommend him highly enough. Cheers Tom!
