The TT is a great amp! Have you been using both channels on gigs? -
I love my C2 for home use , it’s wonderful when you’re sitting right in front of it , but it doesn’t fill a room. I had to import mine from the US so it got expensive , however no regrets I use it every day. I play through that more than anything else.

I have one older combo and seven amps. Things are divided between the in-laws and home as we look after my mother-in-law and I have a practice nook there GK MB150 combo … should sell simply not getting much use , doesn’t owe me a thing. the heads Hotone Thunderbass (mostly used as a headphone amp … replaced by a PhilJones BigHead) should sell GK MB200 used to be a primary practice amp , should sell , great little head Aguilar TH 350 home practice amp … lotsa use SWR HeadLite should sell Darkglass e500 practice rig at the in-laws , I play through that more than anything else I love that thing , digital modelling and all Bergantino Forte … main amp going out the door … gigs and rehearsals , beautiful thing , older version with the variable compressor GenzBenz Streamliner 900 overhauled by AndyField , it’s like a brand new amp . Backup. Beautiful thing. I usually take a tube preamp out to gigs and rehearsals , Monique , by Jule . A gorgeous boutique pre. I have my cabs pared down to just what I need. An Aguilar SL112 to pair with the TH350 for home practice , this doesn’t move. A Phil Jones C2 to pair with the E500 at the in-laws practice nook , this doesn’t move and really is a sweet practice rig A BareFaced One 10 , this gets paired with the Forte and Monique for rehearsals. And for gigs , a Bergantino HDN112 &210. For most gigs I just need a single cab , together they would cover anything I might have to do. The Bergs are run with the Forte and Monique. The Forte is a wonderful clean , transparent , hifi amp. Monique gives it the classic tube warmth , but with a 700 watt slam. None of the gear is heavy. I drive it downtown and set it up. And then tear it down and drive it home. I’m mostly playing mid sized rooms , and often not in the PA so my stage sound is the room sound. I keep the stuff I move around completely separate from the practice rigs. If I sell some amps I’ll probably just buy something different to try out. I’ve almost picked up Darkglass MicroTube heads and am curious about Eich , Trickfish , and Jad Freer among others. There’s just the standard generic stuff in the regional stores. I’m a little nerdy about amps.

Those old RB400s really are great amps.

I’ve never had problems playing 34 in basses , but I’ve come to prefer short scales. I’m up to around a dozen of them now. I really like the Acinonyx , and am suprised I haven’t found one yet. I -

I usually leave the tuner on ,it makes it easy to check , I’m directly into my amp , no pedals. I also had two trumpet players between me and my amp.

Our Mexican band played in my favourite old dive last night , not a huge crowd , but a great night. We had an opening band and it was a good thing I arrived early as their bassist just assumed there would be a bass amp there. It did make the transition much easier. I used the big orange Gretsch all night , gorgeous big deep woody thump.

I love the one I picked up. It’s surprisingly deep and rich sounding when you sit in front of it , but I find it does not fill a room , and that’s ideal in my little practice nook.

Home I generally use this little 350 ToneHammer and a SL112. There’s a little cluster of basses there at the moment , a Yamaha Samurai , a UniVox HiFlier , and my trusty old Ray. This rig does not leave the house. I keep gig and rehearsal gear totally separate.

I have a little practice nook at the in-laws , we care for my wife’s mother-in-law and spend much of our time there. So I have a little corner at home with a nice little practice amp , and this set up at the in-laws. At first I just grabbed a Rumble 15 and thought it was all I’d need. It sucked , I was used to having tone. I’ve gone through several amps and cabs at this point and this is what I’ve settled on. The aim was for something small. The e500 was a find on kijiji and I found that at a good price. I love it. The BigHead headphone amp was a classifieds score , I spend a lot of time on the phones learning material. I bought the PhilJones cab new , and paid full retail. It’s a wonderful practice cab but is not gig suitable. I’ve been keeping four basses in the nook , two short scale Gibsons , rounds on the Jr , flats on the SG. And a pair of Gretsches . The big orange one is 32 scale , the Jet is 30. The SG was a kijiji find for a great price , I managed to get the Jr when Guitar Center blew them out. The Gretsches were also brought in from the States , the 5123 was never sold in Canada , fell in love with it and some Gretsch fans suggested the 6128. That one was hard to find. Both bought used , but the exchange , duty and shipping were painful. Flats on both Gretsches. I was once a Pbass guy but these days it seems I play just about everything but …

For quite some time I was practicing at home on the Ray , and doing gigs with a Dano Longhorn.

“Put the Bass In” … excellent. I’d love to see the “External Stack” plugged in. 4x3 ? How does it sound? I use a 2x5 for home practice , it’s deep at low volume but does not fill the room. You’ve got to sit right in front of it.

With a little time I came to love the big chunky classic Ray neck. At first I was put off with the girth , and then in time found it very comfortable. Today it still feels like home , although I’ve mostly moved to short scales.

A surprising number of modern amps have built in high and low pass filters.

Welcome! I don’t know how Thomann can sell a Harley Benton for what they do.

Danos are hollow , with a block under the bridge.

I’m a Bergantino fanboi , and usually run a tube preamp for some old school warmth. I don’t own any Mesa gear , but they do make wonderful things. Was a GK user for many many years. And like both Darkglass and Aguilar too. There are a lot of European amps that interest me that we simply do not see here. Jad Freer , Eich , Glockenklang and Vanderkley quickly come to mind. Trickfish and Fuch in the US have some relatively new interesting amps. And are impossible to find locally. It’s expensive to import gear from the US. Unfortunately the local stores just seem to stock the same old generic gear. There really are a ton of interesting options out there these days.

I think the original Stingray neck was based on the pre 69 tv logo Pbass neck. That’s fairly chunky , but is surprisingly comfortable once you play it for a while and get used to it. I’ve had one for close to 25 years now. I usually play short scales these days but that Ray has a place beside the couch so it’s always handy to pick up. It’s one of the few basses I keep fresh rounds on.
