    Newbie here !

I just read that Hampshire was the birthplace of modern fly fishing , birdwatching , and wind surfing. welcome aboard
  2. Those set neck 4000 basses are really nice.
  3. I’ve been playing in the house band that hosts a blues jam for over 25 , close to 30 years now. We’ve seen many mature and become excellent players , and others that have not. You’re always dealing with various levels of ability. We try and get everyone up , at times that is simply impossible. If I see a bassist in the house , I try and get them up. I have no issue letting others play my gear. (although these days I’ve been using a big orange Gretsch hollow body and most Fender players are completely thrown by that) (and yet some absolutely love it) It’s not an easy job. And when somebody is playing the wrong chords , do you play it their way , or play it correctly? When somebody that is a great player turns up you want to hear them play a little more. You cannot please everybody. They say a good night has a little heaven and a little hell. A great one does too. I don’t see it as an ego thing.

    Mark Bass hate

I was happy with GK gear when Markbass started to become popular. Never had any issues with the GK , if I had I probably would have bought in. When I finally changed from GK , the Markbass heyday had passed and I got a great deal on a GB StreamLiner.
  5. Welcome BassKees !

    NCB!

GK into a 410 is a classic rig.
  7. Looks great! Eich is not common around here so I’m always curious.
  8. You’re dead in the water if the drummer isn’t happening.
  9. Wow! Wonderful take.
  10. bwaaa…. fireglow down to the elbows !
  11. They are beautiful things , I have a later 60’s shark fin that will be getting a new trussrod. I look forward to getting it back in working condition.
  12. Enjoy the vacation and shopping! fine combination
  13. We lost a great keyboard and bass player last month and held a memorial gig last night. Barry Cooke. He’s been an institution in our little blues scene. So our favourite old dive was jammed , and just about everybody that wasn’t out gigging was there. Some even flew in from Ottawa. Players from all over the province. We managed to get most everybody up. Stage was packed. Wonderful night.
  14. Yes. Both are great players , legends. Jamie is more of a Jazz guy despite touring with the Barra McNeils. Was trying to help Bruce track down a part for a Steinberger bridge yesterday.
  15. The flats need a little playing time to settle down , but they sit nicely in a mix. If you like an old school thump they are the ticket.
  16. The Sisma by Jad Freer is another I’m curious about.
  17. Holy sweet lord lifting Jesus. I picked up a lightly used Squier VI and have spent much more time goofing around on it than I ever expected. I found the stock strings lacking and put on the heavier set Fender make. I had to re-intonate , and file the nut. All good. It did become a little more expensive than I expected. First was a Fender TreVerb pedal , and then decided some gain might be useful. Than echo , chorus , and octaver … and then picked up a Gretsch baritone. Be careful.
  18. They’re surprisingly heavy to move around , and don’t carry much power , but they are beautiful sounding amps. There are many tube preamps around today that mimic the B15.
  19. My gigging rig has been constant for a while now. Monique tube pre into a Bergantino Forte. Simply a beauty. but for the others… Mesa tt800 Aguilar TH I’m curious about Darkglass Microtubes and Trickfish. and for the classics GenzBenz Streamliner 900 GK RB400 edit and for a versatile little practice amp Darkglass Exxponent or the classic little GK MB200
  20. We recently lost a great friend and piano player , unexpectedly. He had played a gig the night he died. We’re doing a memorial for him Saturday night. His regular band had the gig booked and decided to keep the night and pay tribute. We’re expecting quite the crowd of characters. Here’s the poster. And a link showing some of the characters.
  21. My condolences WalMan.
