  1. My main cable is a Spectraflex I bought in 1989. Still going strong!
  2. Boss Katana 500. Superb amp.
  3. Another sale to Mike. He continues to be just a bit of a legend
  4. I played the Andertons stage at Guilfest yesterday afternoon. Was told the backline would be a Boss Katana rig so didn't bother taking an amp: big mistake as they supplied a 100 watt Orange combo!
  5. I don't have a V series, but I do have a P series five string and it's an astonishingly good bass for the money. It's also only about 8.5lbs in weight, so there are light ones out there!
  6. In addition to the above, if you play fingerstyle try and get into the habit of resting your pinky on the B string when you aren't playing it. It's a good way to eliminate unwanted string vibration.
  7. I take this is code for him being p*ssed?
  8. I bought the boss WL-20L last week and used it at a gig on Saturday night. It sounded great, and no cables was surprisingly liberating!
  9. Very smooth sale to Stew. As smooth, in fact as the flatwound strings he bought! Excellent comms and prompt payment. A pleasure to deal with.
  10. Very smooth sale to Jose. Excellent comms and prompt payment. A pleasure to deal with.
  11. Trying out the Boss WL-20L wireless system for the first time at an outdoor gig tonight.  Looking forward to seeing how it performs.

It performed really well.  Superb bit of kit.

  12. And an untouched headstock.
  13. If you use the Tone Studio Editor you can set it to mute both.
  14. Ugh, when relicing goes WAY too far
  15. Did anyone here win Bernie Marsden's Yamaha BB bass at auction today?

I just sold mine (and will probably be looking for another one soon).

The Marsden one went for 1050. Plus fees for the auction house etc it probably cost the buyer over 1300. As BB2000s are struggling to get over 1K on bass chat I would say it was over the market value.

There's one (pickup only) in Essex which hasn't shifted at 1300 and the seller is asking for offers. That would probably go for not a lot over 1000 if you could pick up?

Thanks Cairobill. TBH I'm not that bothered about owning one of those basses per se, it was more the fact it was Bernie's. He was one of my favourite guitarists and it would have been nice to have the bass.

Ah yes - a rare one in that sense. The upshot is that the BB2000 is probably the best bass in the world! IMHO of course ;)

  16. Agree one bazillion percent!
  17. It's very odd, so they broke at the point where the string touched the tuning post? I can only assume manufacturing fault. You should send them back.
  18. I have been playing bass for 45 years and never broken a string, so you're super unlucky to have two go on a single set! When you say they "broke", what actually happened - did the core physically break or was it something else? Was it when you were tuning them up for the first time? Had you cut them? How many winds did you have on each tuner? Were you in standard tuning?
  19. How odd. I guess they were both used through the years then.
  20. Early to mid 80s I believe. I had one made in 1989 that had a single string guide.
  21. Completely sold on this amp. I love it. Played an outdoor festival on Saturday and it was plenty loud enough on stage, and through the PA it sounded glorious!
