I think it's 18mm from memory Gareth... I know it's not 19mm as I found the spacing ever-so-slightly too narrow for my preference (which is usually 19mm!). I'd be surprised if it was 17mm.
Thanks Ian. It certainly feels like 18mm... I was just going by the Hipshot specs on the website. -

I need to clear some space for a new ACG Krell I have incoming, so I am putting this lovely Recurve up for sale. It's from the now discontinued "Graft" configuration bass, which was Alan's more cost-effective range and has now replaced by the "Standard", but it's beautifully put together, light weight, and sounds great. Link to the bass on the ACG site is here, but it's basically:

alder body with a mahogany top
male 3pc 33" scale neck
rosewood board
2x ACG FB pickups
Volume/Tone/4 way Rotary switch (neck, neck+bridge series, neck+ bridge parallel, bridge).
Dunlop straplocks
Weight is about 8.5lbs and balance is good. Being a 33" scale it's a breeze to play. There are a couple of little bumps on it, but overall it's very clean. It will comes with a basic gig bag. Price is £550 shipped. Thanks for looking

SOLD- ACG Recurve S Type Singlecut Unlined Fretless 5
franzbassist posted a topic in Basses For Sale
I need to clear some space for a new ACG I have incoming, so I am putting this lovely singlecut Recurve up for sale. I bought this bass from GBBL last summer. It's served me very well in the time I've had it. It's a "Standard" configuration bass, so no fancy top or filter preamp, but it's beautifully put together, light weight, and sounds great. Link to the bass on the ACG site is here, but it's basically:

tinted white limba body
ash/bubinga 34" scale neck
ebony board
2x ACG FB humbuckers
ACG/East Custom P-Retro - stack 1 = volume, passive tone, and push/pull 'bright' function whereas stack 2 = dual boost control (turn CW for mid boost and ACW for bass & treble boost) and a push/pull 'deep' boost.
4 way Rotary switch (neck, neck+bridge series, neck+ bridge parallel, bridge).
Active/Passive Switch
Dunlop buttons (but not the part that attaches to the strap)
Weight is 8.5lbs and balance is good. There's a bit of a short fundamental around the 5th fret on the G string, not a dead spot as such, but other than that it sings and is in immaculate condition. It's currently wearing La Bella white nylons, which suit the bass well. Here's a video. It's a quick and simple job, the playing is sloppy and I didn't have the mic gain set right so there's some distortion in places, but hopefully it'll help folk see what the bass can do https://www.youtube.com/watch?kv=Ql5dOCNuuf0 Price is £750 shipped, so a 40% saving on new! Thanks for looking -
Definitely go. The shop is well stocked with lots of lovely stuff and the lads are super friendly.

How about the EWS BMC? I know Bass Direct have this and the newer version of the same.
Just bought a white one and looking at a set of white tapewounds. They start at .50 which would normally be too heavy for me but I'm told that the white nylon tapewounds feel lighter - how true is this??
Not looking to derail the thread, but just to confirm La Bella white nylons are available in a .45 gauge, although to be honest I'd stick with the .50s as the tension is nice and low anyway. Great basses these, and the price is good too. -

In 37 years of playing, I have never had to play Sweet Home Alabama until just last week. We're going to play it at a gig in the summer as the host specifically requested. I'll be playing it on an ACG 5 string fretless. Not sure what my point is, just putting the info out there....
I mean no disrespect to Walbassist, but Martin Penning is meant to be fantastic.
Hey no problem. James and I have spoken, and as I hadn't spotted that he was talking about uprights you'd be right... I wouldn't know where to start! -
Hampshire setup advice/recommendations
franzbassist replied to Jimryan's topic in EUB and Double Bass
If it's just a setup (nut, neck relief, action etc.) then I'd be happy to do it. I work at the Uni so could probably do it one lunchtime. I don't do electrics though. -
