I meant, why is it turned facing the audience.

The only basses of mine that have anything approaching names are Jayray (because that's what it is... a 'Ray with a fretless Jaydee neck) and Skabass (because, errm, that's what it is... a 2-tone themed thing). All the others have names like 'the Spector' and 'the Shuke' and 'the Wal'.

Alternatively, pop round and pick them up for cash. I'm told I make good tea.
EMG 35HZ Passive 4 String Bass Pickup pair. Taken from a Spector Q4.
EMG say:
"Part of EMG's HZ Extended Series line, the 35HZ, with its modern appearance is actually a product of 30+ years of design experience This passive model features a dual-coil design for low noise and plenty of output. Using EMG's "CS" design (Ceramic and Steel), the resulting tone is much warmer as a result of the higher inductance of the steel, and thus has a smoother attack and a flatter high end. All of the HZ bass models feature solid bar magnets that cover the entire width of the strings so any string layout can be used. This model uses an extended housing that is 3.5 inches (89mm), perfect for four string spacing’s. From classic rock to heavy metal this pickup performs."
Working perfectly and in very good physical condition with no obtrusive marks. Plenty of length in the cables, cores ready for stripping and tinning. Wiring instructions can be found at the product webpage: https://www.emgpickups.com/35hz.html
They can be coil-tapped, very effectively. Adds a different colour to the ol' tonal palette.
Pickup fixing screws included, but no other hardware.

As usual, other peoples' preferences are being dismissed.
Or in other words, there's a difference of opinion.

For me the Sugarbabes are a relatively small amount of talent driven forward by excellent production standards and marketing.

you'll love it mate, great bass work in most of the 80s stuff
Hell yes. People slag off 80s music but it was an amazing decade for bass.

A Tune Bass Maniac or one of its Bass Collection clones would work well too. Lighter than an Aria but still a real 80s vibe.

Good list, not too much slap on there at all.
Do you have any keyboard ability? Some of those are crying out for a bit of synth bass. Pick up a cheap Novation and away you go.

No worries, there was plenty of great non-slap stuff in the 80s. A wealth of wonderful material.
(Can you tell that the 80s are my favourite decade? )

I wish Rod Stewart would stop doing old swing stuff
He can do crooner stuff because there aren't too many high notes, and his voice is too shot to do his own back catalogue... a friend of mine saw him live a couple of years back, and said some of the old songs had been transposed down so far they were almost unrecognisable.
Personally I think he should retire and stick to making model buildings -- from what I've seen, he has an astonishing talent for it.
I haven't seen a single second of the Hootenanny so I can't comment on it specifically. From the sound of it however, I would have watched Rick Astley instead anyway. His voice these days is fantastic. I was dragged to see Take That a couple of years ago, Rick was the support and for me he stole the show completely.

Great night in Bradford on Avon with the ska band. Half judgment half luck, we managed to time it just right with the last song of the set finishing a couple of minutes to midnight... countdown, skanky 'Auld Lang Syne' and then straight into a few more tunes. Crawled into bed at five to three.
Too old for this sh*t I'm getting.

Three-song sequences
in General Discussion
Posted
We all have favourite albums and favourites tracks from them. But what is your favourite sequence of 3 songs from an album? Not just your favourite 3 from an album, but 3 consecutive songs.
Mine are Manhattan Project -> Marathon -> Territories, from Rush's 'Power Windows'. They're great songs anyway, but the three together are just a stunning combination.
Over to you, BC Massive.
