1. I thought the idea was to learn the cycle to make it easier to learn songs that use it, not the other way round? I'll give them a try though!
2. Has anybody got any good exercises to getting to grips with the cycle?
3.
in a lot of things the net is wonderful, for impossible to get old things the bass chat community is wonderful. For screws and wee things like that I tend to think it's better to support the wee local shops
I needed to pick up some screws for some tuners this week and tried a few wee DIY shops and electronics shops and ended up in Rapid axesrus for me next time I think!
4. I use rounds on my fretless and the board is untreated, the bass is 20 years old and doesn't show any signs of wear yet. You may have trouble on untreated maple boards though or other soft woods. I'd say you can play fretless with a pick or whatever you want, fingerstyle is more traditional for it but theres no reason why you cant pick it!
5.
My computer doesn't seem able to recognise the file type. What program do I need to read it?
I cant open it either?
6. Just puttin out a feeler for the time being, I've got a 4 string jazz with a fretted AllParts neck on it. I'm pretty sure its the P bass shape though, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard (as far as I can tell!) Mint condition. Look to possibly swap for similar condition neck but fretless. Any interest?
7. http://www.notreble.com/buzz/2011/09/10/skjold-design-to-revive-jp-basses-this-fall/ Anyone else heard this? Can't find too much info on it but it's definitely good news, some of fav bass shapes from JP
8.
Thanks for the positive feedback. I'm coming to the end of the line I feel with the chord chart series, so any suggestions gratefully received! A
Anyone got a link for this? Sounds like something I need to read!
9. Were sorted now sorry mate, will change the ad. Thanks anyway!
10.
No transposing of pitch involved, just different octaves C above the stave in Bass clef transposes to become the C below the stave in Treble clef
Cheers!
11.
I use my iPhone 4 on a music stand ! Sorry - what does OT stand for ?
Yeah it's off topic sorry, I'm so hip I've only got a lowly iPhone 3 but I'll see if mine turn out as good as yours!
12. Woah that is high, you got the tab?? Haha only messin, quick (probably quite daft) question though... If this did go between bass an treble clef, would a C in treble still be a C on the bass, as in it doesn't get transposed just a different octave??
13. pics?
14.
I had a bass do the same thing. Thought it was a fret off but I couldn't fix it. Turned out it was a dimple in the underside of the string from when it got banged. So turn that E string over and see if it's just the string. It's more likely a fret end is raising though.
I had a dead fret on my Jazz, just on one string. Changed the strings and it almost disappeared, I'm changing the tuners this week and hoping that might make it resonate differently and eliminate it completely, hit an hope baby!!
15.
Ha ha, yeah that black one in particular is very very nice! They've been making these basses for a good year or so now too and they seem to be selling in their online store. I love the look of their amps too, but man they are expensive... Eude
The basses seem to be really well priced though, has anyone played on of these? I could be tempted...
16. Thanks for the insight, Major. Slightly OT... what do you use to film your vids?
17.
As promised: "Fly Me To The Moon" The Major
That's the gem I've been waiting for! Will give it a look over later in the week. Looking forward to the tutorial that goes with this arrangements list. I've been trying to work on a few recently, Yesterday by the Beatles being one (I thought I'd start nice and simple) I worked out some chords for it and worked out the melody but I'm struggling to marry the two together!
18. I'd be interested in the tuners too
19. Sounds like someone needs a custom...
20. I didn't see it but I'd like to! Any links?
21. I've been looking for new tuners for a Fender Jazz without spending a fortune, just found these... http://www.guitarfetish.com/Fender-Style-E...rome_p_254.html Any idea if they'll fit?
22. I'm starting to make some pennies from playing now, what benefits do you get? The only one I've seen so far that would apply to me really would be the gear insurance/public liability
23. *yaaaaaaaaaaaawn*
