I think there comes a point where we’ve all realised that what sounds good in the bedroom/headphones can be woefully lacking in a live context. Same goes for being happy with gear as it is but then enhancing it with a little ‘spice’! Then there’s trying to cop specific tones to nail a certain song or part. 7Nation Army always sounds better with a decent fuzz where as Dancing In The Moonlight doesn’t suffer if you don’t have a soft phaser washing over it IMO. Elitist is an interesting concept in relation to gear especially if it’s being used in the context of if you think it should be gigged or not rather than say the price/value of it...

Well no one can accuse you of saying one thing and doing another since you literally became a keys player! 😀

Neither wrath nor indignation just different SKU’s much like the Pod’s and M Series effects which came before them only they were more obviously different units marketed at the differing needs of players; the ‘all in one unit’ players and the ‘happy with their amp’ players who just wanted decent multi fx. There have been numerous threads where the virtues and flaws of both have been exhaustively discussed and we’ve both commented similarly on them. I don’t think the addition of extra blocks will be a deal breaker on the stomp for many folk considering the payoff of what one might realistically be able to use in those blocks due to the processing requirements but the HXFX could find itself struggling equally with potentially a perceived ‘loss of blocks’ if the amp/cab sims were available in future updates especially if being used along with poly pitch effects. Having 9 blocks drop to 5 or 6 might appear to be a backwards step! Again it’s a trade off and Line 6 made the call to divest some users of amp/cab modelling a long time ago with no obvious consequences and appear to have successfully appealed to both camps. Sure newer tech nips ahead but that’s just the nature of the game.

It’s also worth noting that selecting an amp/cab pairing rather than a separate amp and cab is a little less taxing on DSP so if that were a consideration for building sounds on the Stomp. *I was struggling to load 3.0 but realised that I was still using HX Edit. It turns out you have to close all applications which might be using the Stomp before being able to update the firmware.

Embargo 😀 I think it’s called a SKU

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?

I’m sure this was said with a proud tear spilling down the cheek and the roar of Spirfire’s overhead 😀 Thing is though you’d think that our democratically elected leaders would have had a pandemic playbook of sorts. We have them for terror attacks and other ‘disasters’ except leaves on the tracks and a flurry of snow in mid January. Sure we can allow for the initial WTF moment as a national disaster hits but there should be a national strategy which considers what action should be taken and what resources are needed in this type of scenario. That’s what I expect as a voter. I think it’s great that there’s a been a shred of common sense employed here when looking at the practicalities involved in the deployment and administration of a nationwide vaccination programme. However I can’t help but think back to when the figures were confidently announced from lecturn’s suggesting 100,000 tests would be carried out daily and the ensuing shortfall in numbers and strain on testing facilities. A bit more realism and less politicking might have been a wiser choice with hindsight. Anyway training... It’s not that hard to ‘train’ someone to insert a swab into the nostril but we were left with a massive shortfall in testing based on the toll it took on a system which was unprepared with the sheer magnitude of the task at hand, no one appeared to ask the lab’s what their capacity was before confidently throwing out the big numbers, if the reagents needed were available in such quantities etc. There were some red faces and people were made to look foolish because they wanted to project numbers that they were always going to struggle to hit due to many factors...before then doubling those targets. Much in the same way as with a nasal swab it’s not terribly complicated to administer an intramuscular or sub cut injection but unlike the self administration (of insulin?) as pointed out earlier there are some other small things to consider when administering a mass vaccination programm to the public such as anaphylaxis management and the administration of emergency medication. It’s not an insurmountable task but there is some nuance to these things which add’s to the complexity in relation to training and supplies chains. It’s not just pinching the deltoid or the belly fat and sticking in a needle. If this has been a bit long winded TL:DR version We can bemoan the shortcomings because we’ve seen them first hand time and again. We can also be optimistic that they’ll get it right eventually but many of us remain cautious. Oh and don’t forget to vote! -
Isn’t that what Led Zeppelin did as discussed earlier?

I prefer this cover to the Sinead O’Conner version but I prefer the original to both covers! I’m a difficult man!

This new type of vaccine is very exciting and the ability to restructure a virus at the dna/rna level to help our bodies easily beat it is clearly where science is developing in the combat of new and unknown virus/pathogens. However for a lot of people these developments with this type of technology poses some/many questions and I can understand someone who doesn’t feel entirely comfortable by the speed at which this new type of vaccine can be brought to market or without what otherwise has become the norm of exhaustive clinical trials with a large data set and importantly the follow up data over many years to track side effects. Being ‘for’ a vaccine doesn’t make us gullible nor does being cautious about one a conspiracy theorist make! The difficulty many folks have is the inevitable involvement of Government, big pharma and how information is disseminated in what has become the fake news/agenda driven news cycle. We’re told to listen to the science but then we see the Government ignore the scientific data/advice and we have a little head scratch! We can all express our opinions on what we think and if we will or won’t take a vaccine but as ever cautious optimism isn’t a bad thing. I’d rather be a cautious optimist in this era than selling the Trumpian ‘we’re turning the corner’ lines which defy the real world stats. -
I’d mentioned this podcast on a recent for sale thread as this months featured artist’s custom bass was for sale and he discusses it on the episode. Made me think I should mention it to the wider BC community. Victor Broden hosts and interviews players, chats about their gear, inspirations and motivations. It features players he likes and earlier episodes saw a lot of the Nashville guys but he’s recently relocated to L.A. so features a wider pool of folk as well as his recent road trip where he’s grabbing interviews while on his travels. Victor wrote a long running bass colum in Premier Guitar and has been active on the Nashville scene for years. I like his laid back interview style and he’s a good old fashioned gear nerd so asks the questions we’d like to know answers to. Check him out! The Lowdown Society!

I’d be up for trying this patch if you’re sharing it? Was messing around with some basic octave and fuzz yesterday to fill out some sections with the band and this might be a big way to do that!

I’d wager everyone in the land want’s this vaccine to be efficacious, efficiently distributed and safely administered. Cautious optimism is neither half full nor half empty it is simply what it is. Let’s get people safely vaccinated, await for the numbers to tell us it is working and we can get back out to gigging when the time is right. -

I honestly feel like this is the perfect iteration of the p bass. I know folks talk about the Sringray being Leo’s evolution of a p bass but if one were to reimagine the p in a modern context it’d hard to overlook the Dingwall interpretation much like how they did with the TBird. The sound is bang on, the neck feels wonderful and the fanned fret/multi scale makes a lot of sense. I know some question the need on a 4 string but it sets it up perfectly for BEAD. It’s in my favour colour too 😬 -

The whole track borrows heavily from the Dua Lipa Future Nostalgia album sound. Similar sound to my ear.

And if you can whip up the tabs for the track too while you’re at it 😂

I believe @Al Krow had a few SA pedals and the hub and eventually bought midi cable too but I don’t think he ever hooked them up for any serious use citing PC editing as laborious or needing too much mental real estate... this off topic meander appears to be because @Al Krow feels that I might need my hand held in when considering the C4 and any additional costs that I might have. I appreciate that concern and while his aversion to pc editing might factor into his pedal choices I don’t have any issue as I spend most of my at home playing time via the laptop and frequently use UAD plug ins or Logic to create sounds and patches. I just hope @GisserDand @Quatschmacher are able to tell him how to work his new SY1000 when he gets it 😀
