1. Maybe Gerd0? For the half-tone / whole-tone diminished scale, I'd be looking for C7b9 as the chord symbol. Like with the altered scale mentioned by Ceebass, I think I'd be looking for a different chord symbol than C7(b5)... Maybe as Ceebass suggested the "scale" for C7(b5) is only made up of the 4 chord tones???
2. Me too To elaborate on why I'm asking, I was chatting about chords with my keys player and he referred me to a source https://www.apassion4jazz.net/jazz_chords.html - I like to dig out the Free Jamey Aebersold Red Jazz book http://jazzbooks.com/jazz/FQBK when I need to freshen up on chords and scales - page 14 has a scale syllabus I use for deciphering chords and scales. However, I liked the look of my keys players' chart and thought I'd do one of my own to include whole scales, not just chord tones, so I started my own chart using his as a template. The grey filled cells show chord tones and I intend to fill in the notes. I've only done 2 lines in the example before noticing the fifth line and the chord C7(b5) hence the post.
3. Hi Ceebass, thanks for your reply. I agree with what you say about how a super locrian/altered scale is normally written - I'm confused about thinking of C7(b5) as a whole tone scale as the whole tone scale has a #5, and I'd be looking for C7+ (maybe C7(#5) or C7(#4,#5) ) Happy to take this onboard though - thanks
4. Hello folks Briefly, would you consider C7(b5) as an alternative/lazy way of writing C7(#11)? To me C7(b5) suggests a scale of C,D,E,F,Gb,A,Bb,C... yuk! What am I missing? Thanks
5. Congrats - great deal (slightly jealous)
6.
That photo looks absolutely fine to me. The silk is not on the 'speaking' portion of the string.
Thanks JapanAxe - as you mention, its working ok, just different from normal, and its not as if either the bass or strings are uncommon so I thought the strings would have a bigger gap between the nut and silk... Many thanks
7.
Don't string them thru body?
Its a 68 re-issue with a 2 saddle bridge. But nice idea. I’m toying with fitting a modern Fender bridge with both options. Just wondered what others did?
8. Hello folks, I'm seeking some advice about which LaBella's I should be buying for a "strung thru body" Fender Precision. I bought the above set for a thru body strung Fender Precision, but have a few reservations. Firstly, the silk winding on the E string is oh so close to the nut - is this really how they should be? Also, unfortunately the D string snapped before it reached pitch - the suppliers kindly said they would send another, which I'm happy about, but after reading all the warnings about fitting ordinary La Bella's to through body bridges, I'm wary now this has happened to the strings supposedly designed for the job... I am a big fan of Labella flats and have them on my 70’s Precision, Jazz, Mustang and Musicmaster basses, although the Mustang is the only one with a thru body bridge. I am very careful when installing new strings, I pulled the strings through the back of the body and whilst holding them on tension, pushed the strings from the bridge base, over the saddle with my finger before tensioning them ensuring there are no twists in the string. Anyone else wearing these strings on a through body strung Fender or similar? Or should I buy something else next time around / when the replacement D breaks on installation?

11. Vince came over and bought a couple of amps. Really nice chap who I would heartily recommend. Good to meet you fella Justin
12. One sold on eBay - just this one (pictured above) left... (also on eBay for £99.99)
13. These are great hand made British 700watt mosfet power amps from the late 80's / early 90's. They are fairly heavy so I'd prefer local pickup if possible, although I would consider courier at buyers expense. One has some marks on the knobs and some flakey paint on its case, the other is in good condition. Both have 1/4 inch jack sockets for input/output and both work perfectly. £50 for the good one and £45 for the less good. Thanks Good one Flakey paint and knob scratch....!
14. Alesis Quadraverb GT rack effects processor. Has the usual Quadraverb effects plus a preamp parameter for guitars etc... I have two available, one is in better condition and comes with the original power supply, feet, and the manual - £90 plus postage. - SOLD The other has a few scratches, no feet, replacement screen, replacement power supply and no manual (available for free to download online) - £80 plus postage. Thanks (edit for spell auto correct - AleXis / AleSis)
15. Trace Acoustic twin channel amp with 12" speaker - nice solid little combo. Weighs in at 23kg and feels heavy for a little combo so collection from Ashford, Kent is preferred, but courier is possible. Good condition with some age related marks, and slight crackle on some pots. £175 + postage These don't come up too often, here's some marketing info pinched from the web:- +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+ Overview Trace Elliot TAB100 12 Acoustic Bass Combo Amp Trace Elliot is a name synonymous with high-quality bass amplification and has been for many years now, with their acoustic bass combos being especially noteworthy. In the case of the TAB100 12 you get an incredibly versatile acoustic bass amp with a 100W power output, 5-band EQ and much much more! Produces clear, accurately defined low-end acoustic tones The 100w power output from this amp is perfect for small gigs alongside an ensemble of drums, horns and guitar, and with a peak at around the 4kHz frequency range the amp has an incredibly bright edge, helping you to really cut through the mix.
