1.
He's always answered my emails too. Usually about signal routes and compression use! Really nice guy. Shame he's a scientologist.
No reason to judge people for what they may or may not believe, and he doesn't preach it to everyone so where is the issue? Interviews with him about it and with the bands and his friends about it have all said they don't know who or what happened but when he was in his early 20s he "signed up" and since has become the man he is today and been positive, and life loving since. I'd usually say learn the religion before you judge it, but in this case i won't. As you all full well what it is and that this country recognises it as a cult.. I'm not one of them by the way! Great guy though, went out of his way to get my Attitude neck-pickup cover signed, took a photo for me of myself and Paul Gilbert, talked to me about gear, then later at the gig i was in the front row, he saw me, and knelt down to shake my hand (again ) from the stage. Best night of my life so far. Many in the music industry could learn from the way he acts
 2.
Hi Adam, Thanks for the welcome! Good to know there are other North East loons on here! Are you in a band yourself? Cheers, Leigh
Haha that's us! I am in a handful of bands though none who have done much really! Though i've performed around the northeast on Bass Trombone, just not bass guitar haha! Hopefully be doing more soon though. Mostly heavier music for me, hard rock, metal etc
 3.
Not sure who the bass is by but I'm pretty sure that's Garry Goodman.
Ah so it is! Knew he looked familiar, that would be his Adler 12 string then! Thank you very much
 4. Hey There and Happy new year! I'm from Aberdeenshire myself too, (Out by banchory) i was out your way only yesterday! Welcome to the forum there are only a handful of us from our corner of the world but we are on here! Adam,
 5.
he usually makes the point that 90% of what he does, is holding down the bass in a band. But if I went to see a band featuring Billy Sheehan, I would be a tad disappointed if he didn't do a bass solo.
He usually does, he's always asked too and will though sometimes reluctantly! Check my avatar, got a signed What If... album aswell If i can be as humble as him succesful or not AND a shread as talented i'll feel proud of myself. Plus his solo music is awesome! There is another youtube clip from the same clinic "Thank you Billy Gibbons" worth a watch also. He always emphasises what he does comes from his tone helping hold down low end, and the ability from have grinded the basics till they are air-tight! Althought he is always labeled a shredder it's extremely rare that he'll do anything of the sort with a band. Minus maybe some of the talas stuff but that was before all the experience plus he was the did alot of music/song writing and played pretty much the lead
 6.
I'll see your and raise you a
Who is that, and who is the bass made by? (If anyone knows! Just a tad curious haha!)
 7.
if you send me your attitude for my birthday
Cheeky! haha, there are less of mine then there are of the one Karl is selling!
Oi, bugger off some of us are trying to practice Burn here
Haha sorry mate i'll pipe down BUMP on me!
 8.
does this fingerboard change the sound from original maple
Not by a huge amount, the pickups are really what defines the atttitude combined with the hunk of maple neck which is there!
I want this bass!
So do I! haha!
 9.
Love the Frantabit. Amazing demo's always!! Fingers crossed for the pedal give away )))))
You'll have to get past me first Shep! Your pedal board is mighty enough as is, mine is a sad state of affairs! haha!
 10. You could both give me your Yamaha's as a late christmas/Birthday present? Haha! Bump for you both!
 11. I'd love to see more clips of you playing Dan, i use 17mm string spacing, and seeing tighter spacing would be interesting (plus i'm in love with the Doodle, and you still owe me Kilo clips ) How do you find digging in? You must play with much more control than me haha! I've had a couple idea's but incase they are stolen by any on lookers i'd rather not discuss (or look silly haha! Actually is it cool if i PM you dood? So we can have a nerdy gear chat The Ibanez is basically a custom, though not sure how it quite reaches £5.5K!
 12. I like it! Especially in silverburst, bet it sounds just like all other Gibsons though, (I jest!) But the Explorer shape does have it's own "sound" Does look RAWK,
 13. Hey Bill! Love your videos, thanks for this one man!
 14. Next you just need to stock Conklin haha! Nice to see you growing ever further Mark!
 15.
Traditionally I'd of said any of the RC or Jamman range were ideal. I guess it depends what you want from it, but I'm now using a TC Electronics Flashback delay! It's a great delay pedal, but with the bonus of being the most compact and all-round awesome looper. If you want built in beats etc then it's not for you, but I'd you just want sound on sound with later after layer then it's fantastic!
+1 or the Akai E2 Headrush, Not used a TC flashback but heard only good things. I like the Akai and use it live as when i click i know it's recording and when i click it'll come in when it click it the "kick in time" as it were is tiny so for quicker more a-rhytmical stuff it suits me to the ground! Plus has great delay on it Those are the i'd be looking at anyhow
 16.
trade is stil available . And i presume you have attitude bass which is good
My Attitude ain't for trade, so stop thinking right there BUMP on me, best of luck with the sale!
 17. You could do what the big bands do, and record the stuff in advance (the bass part for example) and play guitar over it? Less preferable and harder but something to do as maybe a back up plan?
 18.
I was asked for a sound clip. Attached below. About 2 minutes in is how these CAN be played
Making great progress then Karl! Any chance of making tabs for it, you'd be a hero (Kidding! Though i've forgotten most of it, so we'll be doing the same thing haha! ) BUMP for an amazing bass, and a great guy
 19. Is that price £681? I am far to tempted by this but i'd be killed for spending the money! Best of luck with the sale of a beautiful instrument!
 20.
I appreciate the feedback, I found a laney rb9 ( head and cab ) in a shop today for 250, although I could probably haggle him down more, worthy investment? Or am I better off waiting for something better?
Have you tried it? I really rate the Laney RB stuff but horses for courses!
 21. You could ask 2 friends and divide the set list between them? 15 songs in 4/5 days isn't too bad as long as you don't play technical hyper rhytmical music Many on here have had to learn more in less time so it can be done!
 22. Also the bit at 1:20 is stunning. As is the whole thing. Much love for this as may be far too obvious! You and your guitarist must have serious chops! There are so many casual sweeps in there, You play with three fingers right? Take note that the easiest way to play this isn't a straight 321 321 321 way, there is alot of raking and 31's 23's in there (3 being ring finger) which make the string tranistions easier but learning it straight might make it easier for you everyone is different!
 23. For tapping it stops clank and strings ringing out, I do it (with a wrist band though mind you ) as my action is set a little too high for super quiet tap, as thats how i prefer it for everything else! Was a pain though, last time i recorded stuff with a band had to do all the tapped stuff first so spent two days of tapping straight then brought the set-up back to usual! On a gig you can't really do that (without being superman or The Flash! )
 24.
Doh, why didn't I think of that . Must ne the sherry in my cornmflakes, thanks arthurhenry
You can find music for the original online i "think" some people have posted it around not totally sure. Then onto bass! If that helps, Minus the super fast bits the solo isn't overly hard, it's just getting through it all is tough! Man i love that video, the Sheehan solo is simply stunning, love the tone, and the slower more melodious bit he plays masterfully and it sounds amazing! THIS is why i am a Sheehan lover haha! Best of luck Karl!
 25.
If its any help when I started playing nearly 20 years ago I decided to use 3 fingers. I made up my own technique where I decided not to play 2 notes next to each other with the same finger. What ended up happening was that I used all 3 fingers in rotation. To put it in another way if numbered my fingers 1 to 3 then my notes would be played with finger 1 then 2 then 3 then 1 then 2 then 3 etc regardless of which string Im on and I still use this effectively. I dont even think about which finger Im going to use, it just happens and always works. I also use my thumb for slappy stuff. But as many people have said it takes practice but once you ve got it then youve got it. I think for the fastest playing then a pick is the best and easiest but I rarely use one unless I want a particular sound that comes from playing with a pick as I can get fast enough with my fingers.
MASSIVE +1 I'm the same, though i've not been playing/Alive 20 years I play with a pick when it sounds better, i've trained switches so can switch from pick to fingers mid song, but for fast stuff has to be fingers, feel better, more natural and i can play much faster finger style than with a pick but thats me! (Plus my picking isn't of the same level)
