Sorry, I don't live on here. Do you have anything useful to add? -
Might rattle a few cages here, but we're all adult!! I'm just wondering why I see so many people use so many effects but then describe a great, pure tone as boring? I had an SVT 2 Pro, got fed up of lugging it about and now own a 3 pro and a 7 pro. When played alone, I admit they don't set the world on fire, but in a band situation they are both perfect. They cut through the mix and sound amazing, provide an almost perfect tone that the audience will feel and hear. I often compare it to guitar players who have the insane setting on their Line 6 Spider, sounding like Slipknot in their bedroom. Take that to a live situation and it'll sound comedic! Like I say, I know people will disagree, but I've watched bands where the bass player has a modern amp, a bass with 4 pickups and a pedal board full to the brim, and I can't hear them. I know that either of my SVT Pro amps, with a P bass or Stingray will slay them in every department, but still I seem to be in the minority!! I'm saying IMO with modesty, but really believe it to be fact!! Perhaps it's me!!!!!

There's a Fiesta Red one for sale on Facebook at the moment. I have a sunburst one and absolutely love it. It just plays so amazingly.

If you're fed up of the knob twirling on this, you'll quickly get fed up of trying to put an SVT Classic or 2 Pro in and out of your car!!! I did. Although they sound great, I've concluded that they're not practical for a jobbing musician. If I had a road crew I wouldn't hesitate but they are so flipping heavy it's untrue!!!!!

Hi all, I've just bought a used 3 Pro and it seems to have an issue. It sounds, even at low volume, slightly distorted, almost like a driven valve head. Ironically it sounds quite nice but I've heard a few and know it's not right. I've read a lot about the mosfets needing biasing on these amps, but then it could be a bad tube? What do you advise? Do I change the tubes and see if that makes it ok? The guy I bought it from says it was fine before he sent it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Dave.

Hi all. I bought a 7 Pro about 3 years ago and love the tone. The issue is, I’ve had endless problems with it and am now sick of it. In 2018 after continued cutting out I sent it to surrey Amps who fixed it for £190. Then it began doing the same thing a year later, in 2019. I sent it back to them and they said it was a different problem and charged me another £180 to fix it. Now, roughly 7 months later it’s started cutting out again! What do I do? Spend another £200 on an amp that’s gonna crap out every year? I think Ampeg is now owned by Wetherspoons so probably won’t get much sense from them. I’m really fed up and at a loss of what to do. Send back to Surrey amps again, sell it for spare or repair it try to contact Ampeg? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Hi mate. The person I bought it from or Ampeg? Neither I’m afraid!

Who's this then?

It’s not so much volume mate. They just sounded too weak and I found myself needing to dig in too much. I like a soft touch but high output.
-
Just to update. Changed them for SD Quarter Pounders and it’s definitely the right decision for me. Gives me that thump and high response I love. Gigged then last night and they were amazing. Horses for courses I guess!!

They are lovely pickups mate but they don't suit the heavy rock band I play in.
-
Hi all. I love this bass but the pickups aren't hot enough for my liking so I'm hoping to change them for some Seymour Duncan ones. Will this be an issue due to the stacked knob controls? Obviously most jazzes are volume, volume, tone and this one isn't. Just hoping it would be an easy swap. Thanks in advance for any help or advice, Dave.

Les Paul Junior mate. Single coils, no keys.

Hi folks. I have a Flea Jazz bass that I absolutely love. The only issue is, when playing high up the fretboard, the notes don’t cut through as much as my P Bass. I’m talking above 12th fret. When played solo, all the notes seem to jump out perfectly, but it’s when playing in a band situation that this happens. Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dave.
