How to repair a corner crack on a fender hardcase?
You could try some of the solvent that plumbers use for glueing abs plastic drainpipes. You should be able to wick it into the crack it it's not too damaged Caveat: I've never had to repair one myself, so my suggestion is untested
seems like a good idea. -
Just notice a sizeable crack on my Fender ABS plastic case (USA "sniper" model case 2011). Could anyone recommend a method of fixing it? Maybe a specific glue?
From the early reviews, the Strat is meant to be a very nice playing guitar. I would opt for a Jazzmaster or Jaguar but they have simplified the electronics wayyyy too much. The basses seem like an afterthought. I think they should have brought back a 51 style P bass as well and had it as a normal USA model.
I like the Jag switching purely because there's loads of vintage Jag models. This one is very quick and easy.

The MXR is great and fairly small. I have a Darkglass which is superb.
Quite. My advice is this - I haven't owned a pedal that didn't benefit from some period of leaning to get the 'best for you' out of it - could be you don't and will never get on with it - which is fine too
Just bought a Pike Vulcan to gain stack. My issue is that there isn't any "vintage" tone on the clean part of the Ultra. Just a neutral eq.
I use a Darkglass vintage ultra - still learning it really - I have the clean channel for just that - set the distortion channel for 'hint of grit' and toss this signal into a B3K if I want more. The whole lot goes into a EBS microbass II - the DI from this then goes FOH, the output goes to a powered cab - its not 'elegant' but I like it.
If it works for you then it works. I'm now toying with the idea of a Source Audio Aftershock to go with the Ultra
That`s exactly what I do - saves all the headache of trying to get your sound from a variety of different amps. Luckily for me a Sansamp BDDI does what I need, and I`m not that fussed about the on-stage sound as long as I can hear it, FOH is where it`s at.
I'm starting to think about the Tech 21 VT Deluxe
I'd be the same. My Blueberry clone is on all the time for a bit of light breakup that I stack my other pedals on top of.
Yeah that's it. Spot on. I'm trying to make my board be what FOH gets so it doesn't matter what amp I use.
-
Was confused by the VD (I've seen it mostly referred to as VMTD), but get you now. Only disadvantage I can see to that is you can't use the VMTD as a clean preamp in this case like you could with the Ultra.
I don't need a pristine clean TBH.
-
In reality all I want is two different gain ad volume pots and to switch between them.
-
That's why I'm thinking about swapping for two pedals instead of forking out for another.
-
Totally agree. I think I dreamt that I watched a you tube vid on it. I'm a silly boy. Could swap for a VD and VMT.

I'll be honest I should've researched a little more. I just assumed that you could have a little grit on the "clean" section.
Depends how many cabs you want to run... but it will power a single 212, 410 etc no problem. I have to say, they are better for guitar than bass though.
That's where the problem lies for me as most of the time I'll be using a shared backline cab. Also it's another reason I'd like one is because I like playing guitar as well.
-
Totally thinking about getting one. Only thing putting me off is that the powered version only goes to 8ohms.
Personally, I'm not very fond of hurdy-gurdy keys on my ovangkol fretboard, but I wish you good luck with the endeavour! Assuming you do not want a rompler with a plethora of sampled presets of every bass guitar on the planet, my immediate thought is to just get a cheap two- or three-octave synth with fat sound. Fat sound often means two or three oscillators, but some brands like Arturia have built in electronics to create a rougher sound so one isn't in real need of the more expensive stuff. One can do a lot worse than to get an Arturia MicroBrute. As your choice would depend a lot on what music styles you're gonna use it for, and your budget, and whether you need full size keys or could muster or appreciate micro keys, mini keys or slim keys, I'll leave it at that for the time being.
Thanks for replying. Ok so so far I've been looking at the Micro and Mini Brutes but the Bass Station2 is in the lead at the moment because it has savable presets for tones and has tap tempo. But saying this I wish it it was slightly smaller in width so I could implement my idea of having it on a rackmount sliding shelf above my amp in the rack.

I've just started to explore this part of bass playing but i'm wondering if there's a go to piece of stand alone gear?
