1. I bought a Warwick LX4 as my first 'serious' bass while I was studying music. The first college gig came up and a girl who was playing bass in one of the songs asked to borrow it, without thinking about the large spangly belt buckle she was wearing! Buckle rash is an understatement! I was gutted. Since then I've insited anyone playing my bass remove their belt. I get some funny looks until I show them the back of the Warwick.
2.
Did you go to salford!? i had that every wednesday morning aswell...I was and still am rubbish at hearing intervals.
No I auditioned for the Bmus but didn't get in. I did a HND at City College Manchester though. I'm in a band with a couple of people who went to Salford.
3.
Remember, "Here comes the Bride" is a perfect fourth!
I was about to say that. I'm really rusty with my intervals. When I was at college I used to practice them all the time. We used to have a lesson every Wednesday mornings where the lecturer would play intervals and pick random people in the lecture to name the interval. The fear of getting it wrong in front of everyone was enough to make me learn them all. I have this book but never got past the first few pages. I might try again now. Another good place to practice intervals is http://www.musictheory.net/trainers/html/id90_en.html
4.
nice one! theres a lot of tone shaping onboard my only wish is that there was a mid control but i can live without it btw cool missus you have as well , my ex wife only ever got interested when I was selling them
Thanks. Yeah a mid would be nice. But in my case would probably confuse me even more. She is pretty cool. It did take a lot of 'discussion' to get her to lend me the money. And I now have to pay all gas and electric bills for eternity! But it's worth it!
5. Played My G&L Tribute L2000 for the first time at practice last night. Wow! I play a Warwick normally so I'm used to a beefy sound. But this had so much more clarity. I use an Ashdown Mag 250 combo with the 15 inch cone. Normally I have to use the amps eq to fully achieve the sound I need. I didn't even push the button to turn the eq on. I left the amp flat and just used the bass controls. It did take a bit of taming on some of the slower ballads (I play in a pop/soul covers band). The neck felt so easy to play. I can't wait to play it on Thursday with my other band. I'm gassing for an Asat now! But it took too much work convincing the missus that I needed this one (she had to lend me the money as well till the end of the month
6. Wow That is really nice! How does it sound/feel?
7. I'm waiting for a black/Maple one to arrive tomorrow. Unfortunately my Sunday Band practice has been cancelled so I will have to wait until Monday to try it with the band.
8. + 1 from too. Although once they did deliver to my home address instead of my work one. But I was at home anyway.
9. Yeah definitely a classic. If I'd collected the bass I would have had it for £330 which is the same is the seller bought it for. So maybe he's not trying make a quick buck. Maybe he just doesn't like it and wants to recoup his costs. All being well it should arrive tomorrow. I'm still excited. I hope I'm happy with it too. Cheers Dub Junkie
10. Yeah I really wanted a Black/Maple one. I was gonna buy one new from the states but with shipping and taxes it was gonna cost me over £400 if this one is in as good nick as the description says I've still saved meself some money.
11. Oh damn! I was just searching the forum to find peoples opinions on these because I've just bought one off the bay for £350. It's this exact bass relisted! Have I paid over the odds? I hope it comes with the gig bag mentioned in this sale! Oh well I'm still excited about having a new toy to play with.

13. Can you count the crotchets/quavers while your playing? I find this really hard but sometimes have to do when I'm learning new lines. Sometimes I notice I'm tapping my foot but completely out of syn with everything. Probably just a nervous distraction thing.
14. I bought a Boss ODB 3 pedal off Nick. Excellent communication. I recieved the pedal the day after my payment cleared with him. Excellent service! Thanks alot Nick
15. I tend to dial in a little more treble on my bass. Just enough to give me that growl needed for the slap and to make the pop stand out.

18. Luther Vandross - Never Too Much. Good bit of Marcus on their. I'm not much of a slapper but play it in a covers band. I find it's good for practicing getting a nice even slap tone. You can even practice slap and pop fills in the Chorus.
19. I take all my stuff to a guy called Mike. He does set ups from his house in Chorlton. I can thoroughly recommend him. If you want his mobile number PM me and I will send it to you.
20. I saw The Chillis at Leeds fest. I wasn't expecting much as last time I saw them I was sorely disappointed. But they were better than expected. They had a better sound and seemed more into it. But there was a lot of jamming and I walked away from the jam at the end. I think they've lost touch with everything they were. Maybe they should start using again. They seemed more in touch with reality when they were on herion than they do now.
21. I went with Musicguard.co.uk. It includes in locked vehicle insurance. and also covers you if its left in a locked room in a venue etc.
22.
Where abouts is the new shop then?
I'ts opposite the BBC on Oxford Rd. Next to the Dance House theatre and Round the corner from Sound Control/Acedemy of Music.
23. Well I like the way the Mag is done. I just want more of it. I don't think this should turn into a 'slag the contributers' off thread.
24. Stanley Clarke interview is good. But does anyone else think they could do with more exercises/transcriptions? They have 2 months to write the bloody thing. The American bass magazine i sometimes buy normally has a couple of song transcriptions and just as many exercises if not more as BGM, and it's monthly. Is it a lack of contributors?
