1. Where abouts are you based and do you have a Myspace or anything?
2.
Yes you are! Either 2 pole or 4 pole Speakon will work fine, needs to be wired 1+ 1- at the speaker end (which is standard wiring for a 2 conductor cable). At the other end of the cable you want Speakon (same wiring unless bridged in which case 1+ 2+) if your amp has it, or 1/4" if not. 8 pole Speakon won't work, it's a different size entirely. Alex
You lost me at 1+ 1-. You could have jsut said yes, a speakon to jack cable will work.
3.
just to add my two pence, don't bother getting a fretless if you don't feel the need for it. i very rarely ever play fretless, and when i do i play about 3 songs then get bored and go back to fretted. i'm a fairly competent fretless player, but tbh for the music i play fretless just isnt necessary and i like a clicky trebly tone than i can't achieve on a fretless. so i'd say get a fretless for the right reasons, and not just because you like the idea of a fretless.
That's what is holding me back. I don't really need one. Maybe it would sound cool in a few songs in the band but it's more want rathet than need.
4. Am I right in thinking that your cabs only have a Speakon input? I've never used a Speakon cable so do I need a 2 pole or 4 pole Speakon?
5. I dunno if I should jsut add myself or what. Any objections just let me know.
6. Where's the Southern one at the moment? And what's the deal with sending it on to the next person? If I was able to acquire it for November 6th it would be ideal since I have a gig and don't fancy lugging my Marshall VBC412 up some steep, narrow stairs.
7.
OK, no prob, I can drop it off in Nottingham if it helps.
Really appreciate the offer. I'll let you know. Thanks
8. Sorry I have no answer, but I'm also looking for this answer as I'm looking to put some flats on my Jazz maybe.
9.
I am in the Midlands, not far from Derby & Nottingham
Girlfriend lives in Nottingham I live in Peterborough. Would be a bit difficult since I'm currently without transport. I've got a week off in November where I'm hoping to try a fretless out one day.
10. Why not get something like this? EDIT: Image wouldn't appear. Here is the link http://api.ning.com/files/Ix82n8lexkq26znm...ex_Lifeson5.jpg I'm sure one could easily be modified for a bass, and you could maybe put wheels on it so you could move around.
11.
So long as you are not a long way away, I have a fretless precision copy, not brilliant but it is strung with flats and sounds okay, you can have a loan to try it if you like.
I think the Dark side of the Moon is a bit far from me
12. Is the Vintage a lot bigger then?
13. Never owned a bass solo album. Not interested in them at all. As a bassist obviously I have massive respect for these guys, but I jsut find the sort of stuff they do on bass albums (Jaco especially) boring.
14.
Fretless is ace though, i'm glad i bought one and wish i'd done it sooner
That is not going to help my bank balance! Still... they are cool
15. Ahh ok, Each to their own I guess then. Would you say it was worth getting a fretless?
16. Bass > Boss Tuner > Amp I used to have an overdrive and synth pedal in there but they're not necessary for the new band (check out my sig) and I'm leaning more towards a natural bass sound nowadays.
17. I mostly stare at the neck, I must admit. But I have a gig on November 6th and I'm going to try to start and move about a bit more and look at the audience* *This only applies if anybody turns up
18. What it says on the tin really. If any of you have been reading some of my recent posts (unlikely), you'll know I've got some major GAS for a fretless P. I was just wondering if playing a fretless will make me better at playing bass in general? So will I notice a difference goign back to my fretted Jazz? I'm wondering whether I should save up for a fretless or jsut get a Yamaha BB
19. Two basses for me. Both at opposite ends of the price scale. Yamaha BB414X, black with black scratchplate I think.. Or maybe white with black scratchplate. Or orange... Any really, I think they all look really good and going by reviews are really good for the money. 70's Fender Precision fretless.
20. Is there a huge difference of tone between this Seymour Duncan and the standard Jazz pups? I might be interested.
21. The ones in the original post don't do anything for me but I enjoyed the Kiss one.
22. Nice one. I'll pop try and pop in sometime next week if I can sort transport out.
23. I've found a BEAUTIFUL fretless for sale. Unfortunately it's currently way out of my price range. I've asked family to just give me money for christmas. See what I can save up and where I stand in January if it's still available. Donations to the WonderHorse fretless fund are welcome
24. All knobs turned up to full on my Jazz. Then set the 7 band Trace Elliot EQ on my amp. To be honest I'm getting annoyed now - there's too much flexibility with those 7 sliders - I'm never happy. Boost the bass slightly and the low mids, cut the treble, high mids about flat I think.
25. Just a quick bump
