1. The time has come to part with my cab I am in for a new band playing g***tar and need to finance a rig, and this cab is the only thing I can bear to part with. What else needs to be said, it's a Mesa. I bought it about 18 months ago, fixed the tolex, sprayed the grille black and invested in a custom cab cover for it that fits perfectly and is better than the Mesa one IMO. It's truly a monster sound, tight, puncy, defined, but BIG. Paired with my 400+ it was world breaking but has had everything from SVT's to Eden's to GK's plugged into it and sounds truly immense. This cab will take anything you can throw at it, spit it out and ask for more. Before me it was a bedroom cab(why?) and then I barely used it, maybe gigged it 10 times at medium volumes. In fantastic condition, all drivers working perfectly along with tweeter. This is a 1st generation Powerhouse with just tweeter control no Player Control Network, and is a 4 Ohm version that can handle 900W RMS!!! Doesn't have the in-built casters but does have the rails for casters which should cost usually £40, you can get suitable casters from any old hardware place for peanuts. Has two 1/4" inputs, side handles etc. Made in the USA. A 4x10" new is around £1100, the 6x10" is pushing £1500, but all I want is [s]£750[/s] [s]£700[/s] £500 or a close offer, which includes me picking the cab up and driving to your front door with it, or practice space, as I appreciate it's a bad time of year to shift such a hefty piece of kit. You get the cab cover for free, and I must admit I'm making a loss on this but needs must. I know I'll replace it with a 4x10" Powerhouse in the future but for now I need dollars. I can guarantee you WILL NOT be disappointed with this cabinet. It is a cab for life, it will never die, and it will blow your socks off. Please don't make me Ebay it! Dan [email protected]
2. Have they? They're still £170 on Digital Village. I'd buy this but it's a bit much tbh. Good luck anyway.
3.
pm'd.
Sold & shipped!
4. Bought this off Steve a month or so back and had some fun with it, but I need an amp in a box so am having to move towards a Sansamp. This sounds great and I would keep it but need the cash to fund a BDDI. It's in great shape, boxed with manual and so forth. It's accumulated some miles, originally bought at Manny's in NYC, came over here, found it's way to Steve, and then after I bought it I took it to Switzerland to play a festival in August! Sounds great, nice and growly and gives a tubey feel if you get the Warp knob right, and more distortion than you can shake a stick at. Plus it's purple so you know it's good. £55 shipped or £50 if you wanna meet me in Manchester. Cheers [email protected]
5.
Bump
Bump and price drop to £100!
6.
now sold
And being thoroughly enjoyed!
7. Selling my guitarist's POD XT Live, it was his rehearsal setup but he has since laid hands on a proper amp for that purpose. It is in great condition and can be returned to factory defaults if you like. Here is a blurb from the Line6 site of the amp models and cabs: Line 6® Clean 6x9 Supro® S6616 Line 6® JTS-45 1x8 1961 Fender® Tweed Champ® Line 6® Class A 1x10 Gibson® Line 6® Mood 1x10 Gretsch® 6156 Line 6® Spinal Puppet 1x12 Line 6® Line 6® Chemical X 1x12 1953 Fender® Tweed Deluxe Reverb® Line 6® Insane Line 6® Piezacoustic 2 1x12 1964 Fender® Blackface Deluxe Reverb® Line 6® Agro Line 6® Lunatic 1x12 1960 Vox® AC-15 Line 6® Treadplate 1X15 1962 Supro® Thunderbolt Line 6® Variax Acoustic 2x2 Fender® Mini Twin Reverb® Budda 2001 Twinmaster 2x12 Line 6® Fender® 1953 Deluxe Reverb® 2x12 1965 Fender® Blackface Twin Reverb® Fender® 1958 Bassman® Fender® 1961 Champ® 2x12 1995 Matchless® Chieftain Fender® 1964 Deluxe Reverb® 2x12 Roland® JC-120 Fender® 1965 Twin Reverb® 2x12 1967 Vox® AC-30 Gretsch® 1960 6156 2X12 1967 Silvertone® Twin Twelve Hiwatt® 1973 Custom 100 4x10 Line 6® Marshall® 1966 JTM-45 4x10 1959 Fender® Bassman® Marshall® 1968 Super Lead 4x12 Line 6® Marshall® 1968 Jump Channel 4x12 1967 Marshall® Basketweave with Greenbacks Marshall® 1968 Variac Plexi Marshall® 1987 JCM 800 4x12 1968 Marshall® Basketweave with Greenbacks Marshall® 1996 JMP-1 Matchless® 1996 Chieftain 4x12 1978 Marshall® with stock 70s Matchless® 1993 DC-30 4x12 1996 Marshall® with Vintage 30s Mesa/Boogie® 2001 Dual Rectifier® 4x12 Mesa/Boogie® Mesa/Boogie® Mark IIc+ Roland® Jazz Chorus 120 Mic Models based on*: Soldano 1993 SLO-100 Shure® SM-57 On Axis Supro 1960's S6616 Shure® SM-57 Off Axis Vox® 1961 AC-15 Sennheiser® MD-421 Vox® 1967 AC-30TB Neumann® U-67 Tube Preamp Marshall® 1974X (18W Reissue) Marshall® JCM 2000 w/ Germ Pedal Orange AD30TC Vox® Fawn Non-Top Boost AC30 Dumble® Clean (from POD® 2.0) Soldano SP88 (from POD® 2.0) Also has various effects - Delay, Modulation, Compressor, EQ, Volume Pedal, Wah. Comes with a Gator softbag for transport, and is ideal for recording, live playing or the studio(scratch tracks etc). This if the first product I think where Line 6 started getting it "right". An absolute steal at £120 shipped! These usually go for £180ish on Ebay(in fact there's an identical POD + bag combo on there for £180 right now). Dan [email protected]
8. Here is my lovely Korg DTR-2, I bought it ages ago on Ebay for about £120 but am moving to a pedal tuner. It's a US model but it includes a step up transformer which is worth about £10, and comes in a rackcase which is a Westfield. Total price for the lot is £60. Tuner has front and back inputs, back output, and a front panel input for a footswitch for muting. Shipping wise would be about £10 or you can pick up from Manchester. Cheers, Dan
9. This is on Ebay at the moment but I'm having some childish bidders. It's got a BIN of £180 so for BC'ers would take the closest offer to £160 shipped which is daylight robbery for such a great piece of kit! Here is the write up: "Here for sale is my beloved EMU 1820m audio interface. This has given me many faithful years of service through my University degree for Cubase recording, and doing preproduction for my band's demos. It is a world class interface and widely recognised as the best piece of gear that EMU has ever made. It has the same AD-DA converters as a ProTools HD rig, has many I/O options, works as a Firewire card, has separate PCI mother and Sync cards for word clock usage, extensive routing, Hi-Z instrument inputs that double as Microphone and Line inputs, turntable input for DJ usage, MIDI I/O, onboard DSP and a fully featured, highly flexible software mixer in the form on the Patchmix DSP software. The unit is extremely low latency, I used to have my latency at a mere 2ms and never noticed any issues when tracking at all, and the ASIO drivers are top notch. The entire system is in extremely good condition, with all parts included. These are: AudioDock breakout, EMU 1010 PCI card, Sync Daughte Card, RJ45 cable to connect AudioDock to PCI card, Manual, Driver Disc & connector cable between 1010 card and Sync card. Comes fully boxed. Here is a specification list from the EMU site: Mastering-grade 24-bit, 192kHz converters - the same A/D converters used in Digidesign's flagship ProTools HD I/O Interface Flexible connectivity with 18 audio inputs and 20 outputs, 32 channels of MIDI I/O, Word Clock, SMPTE and MTC sync, plus a FireWire port for seamless integration with your entire studio Two premium TFPro mic preamps with Mic/Line/Hi-Z inputs with 40db of gain/attenuation and 48V phantom power - plug guitars, keyboards and microphones straight into your system E-DSP 32-bit Multi-effects Processor offers you over 16 simultaneous hardware-accelerated studio-grade effects with no CPU overhead - plug-in architecture allows you to add new effects as needed 32 Channels of zero latency Hardware Mixing/ Monitoring with super-flexible virtual patchbay - no external mixer needed Full compatibility with most popular audio/sequencer applications with ultra-low latency WDM, DirectSound and ASIO 2.0 Drivers I/O Configuration: Two TFPro Mic/Line/Hi-Z preamps (w/48V phantom power) Six 1/4 in. Balanced Inputs Eight 1/4 in. Balanced Outputs Turntable input (w/ground lug and hardware RIAA preamp) 24-bit/192kHz ADAT In/Out (switchable to S/PDIF) 24-bit/96kHz coaxial S/PDIF In/Out (switchable to AES/EBU) 24-bit/96kHz optical S/PDIF Out (switchable to AES/EBU) Two sets of MIDI In/Out Four stereo 1/8 in. Speaker Outputs (configurable from stereo to 7.1) Stereo Headphone Output Firewire Interface I am only selling because I want to give ProTools a try, and I need to buy an MBox 2 or an M-Audio setup to use the software. I will be very sad to see this go but such is life! Whoever buys this will have an extremely high-quality home recording setup, or the basis for a full-featured studio."
10. Personally, I think the 6x10" format is the best all-round for every bassist - any other configuration is a matter of personal taste. 6x10" seems to have the right mix of punch and power, and my Mesa 6x10" is simply spectacular. 15" speakers are a naturally "scoopy" sound so if you like mids then 10's are the way to go. Also 10"s are better for smaller stages as their tone develops closer to the cab than 15"s. Additionally, the Ampeg 6x10" is widely regarded as the "best" Ampeg cab, the 810E gets all the kudos but the 6x10" being ported with horn is a completely different beast, goes lower and has that ported woomph. They hold value well, and are relatively easy to transport. I'd pounce on the 6x10", if it isn't too late.
11. Was given this in lieu of payment for something and seeing as I already own one, thought would stick it on here. Brand new and boxed. I opened the packet to put a battery in and test but that's it, late 2009 model with manual etc. £100 to your door(2nd hand ones go for around £90ish)!
12. Old-school SSD there, from when Kramer owned the Spector name. Basically if you want growl, massive bottom end or like effects, can't go wrong with a Spector. I own 2 and sold one: REX2000/5 in Black - Sold this after putting EMG 40P5 and 40DC in it along with Fretware blocks and 18V mod. Was great but neckdived, sold it as it wasn't getting played. NSJH5CM - Fretless US Bolt on. Incredible, it was 40TW in the bridge and a 40J in the neck, but I traded the TW for a DC and never looked back. TW is warmer but I think the DC brings out the mwah a little more. Neck is superb, I prefer it to every other Spector neck if I'm honest. Euro 5LX - 2009 model with black hardware. Absolutely stunning, so close to the US neck through's it's untrue. I feel this is easier to play than other basses with thinner necks ie Ibanez just because it's "right". Tone is huge and the action is ridiclously low. I take the preamp out though, same on all my basses. Also, as for Alex Webster, I'd say he's more associated with Modulus than Spector. The last couple of Cannibal Corpse albums are Spector and you can hear the big, tight bottom end whereas his Modulus tone is a little dirtier. His Spector sounds best on the Blotted Science album though, and it's only running into a POD! P.S. If your Spector has EMG HZ's and the tone isn't quite "there" go for an 18V mod which is simple or consider changing to real EMG's. Best thing I ever did.
13. UPDATED - Cheaper prices and so on: I have been playing bass for over 8 years and finished my degree at Salford University in 2009, and I pride myself on my competitive prices. I specialize in rock/metal tuition, but am happy and able to cater for all other styles - including jazz, funk, solo bass, motown reggae, hardcore etc - and techniques including pop/slap, tapping, sweep arpeggios, pick/fingerstyle, sight reading, and music theory if you wish. I can teach out of my home in Ashton-under-Lyne, Music Ground in Manchester or MCC Studios in Mottram, depending on where is best for you. I can also travel to you, although this may incur additional travel costs. My first lesson is a free half-hour session and every lesson after that is a mere £15 per hour, with the free lesson being used to get to know one another and decide what you want to take from the lessons and improve in your playing. I won't patronise you and force jazz down your neck if you want to learn some AC/DC songs, and I won't give you Slayer transcriptions if you're into Weather Report. Lessons are given in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere! Whatever you choose to learn I'll help support your choice, however we might have to bump into some theory along the way so I'll make it as palatable as possible. I can be reached either by phone on 07845 318 535, email at [email protected], or via Myspace at myspace.com/dc_bass Cheers, Dan
14.
Bump. Definitely selling this now. £250 + postage. Royal Mail parcel post insured is around £17. Different postage arrangements/couriers on request.
Is that my SVP-Pro as well? Or is my memory failing me? By "more suited to my needs" do you mean MORE POWER!!!! ? Dan

Peavey gear

Used to use 410TVX and 115BXBW and have used their heads a few times. Cab wise, the 15" Black Widow is an awesome cab, nice and clear sounding, but I went off 15"s big time and so it was wasted on me. TVX was loud, extremely durable and heavy to boot. Took a lot of punishment and was really a great cab but I went to an 8x10" for "that" tone. Tonally they're just a little bland sounding. But Peavey stuff is loud. As for the heads, whenever I've used them they've been fairly flexible and you can easily get useable tones, but they never quite got that magic that you'd get from a lot of other brands. They're workshorses plain and simple, and they're better at price/performance than any other company in the world IME.
16. Well it looks like the Ampeg move to Asia has paid off, cheaper overheads and labour = lower prices. Is it cheaper components too and a decrease in build quality? I jumped ship to Mesa before the US Ampeg stuff was totally phased out so I have little experience of the new stuff.
17.
The NS5CR's were made from 94 to 98. What years are you referring to specifically?
The pre-LX years but post NS5CRFM, think 2002-2005ish but I can't really remember.
18.
What colour are you spraying the Korg tuner?
I'm not using it any more, did a swap with my guitarist for his TU-2 for gigs where I just wanna turn up with a bass, DI and tuner pedal! There's actually a vented 2U rack plat above the 400+ it just didn't show up in the photo.
19. These "inbetweener" Euro's are my favourites, as they're solid maple but 35" scale. Nothing wrong with the LX or NS5CR, but the green one of yours represents my personal choice. I agree with you on the necks, the mark 1 Euro's have a slightly smaller neck profile ala the NS5CR(which was 34" scale so felt more compact anyway) but ONLY on the finished models. The current LX's in natural finishes have identical if not better necks to the earlier Euro's. My finished Euro 5LX has a great neck anyway, it's only a shade from the US series. My NS5JHCM has the best Spector neck ever, try one of those next! I changed the jack out on my basses for black ones from China, weird 4 lug stereo jacks. Also changed the pickup screws to black to match my hardware. God I'm sad.
20. Take this: Take off the grille and logo, sand with .60 coarse sand paper then .120 fine sandpaper, spray two coats of Hammerite direct-to-rust satin black aerosol (one can should do it), dry and reassamble, end up with: Looks like a brand new Powerhouse! Total cost of conversion: £13.98
21. Volts and Watts aren't the killer, it's Amps that kills you. I've had plenty of lovely 240V wall shocks but at 2A it's not too bad. However high enough volts can stop dodgy hearts, so don't try and burn a soldeing iron through the back of any plugs (as I once saw at high school in electronics class).
22.
I've got me some real bad guitar GAS right now, any trades considered?
I'd rather have the cash to pay some overdraft off I'm afraid, unless you can trade me something I can sell a bit easier haha!
