1. Slap is a bit of a right of passage, it's one of the many things you learn as a bassist.
As for the 'dying breed', get a grip, sit in any (busy) music shops bass dept. and open your bloody ears.
As for tasteful, well played slap bass i couldn't possibly comment, but 'slapping' is alive and well.
I use it as a tool to loosen my hands, but I could keep up with most, if it were asked of me.
If you don't like it, don't play it, and don't listen to it. And certainly don't comment as it almost certainly sounds like sour grapes.
Now, wheres my Level 42 Dvd?

2.
hi mate, it was due into Dawsons but she didnt make it! are you or Dawsons interested in buying one of these?
Think one of our lads wanted me to check it over before he put in an offer. Must admit i'm tempted myself...

3. oooooh no!?? I'm getting rid of spare backline and pedals to fund my habit...like a bass smackhead.

It's not on their sh page yet, which model is it?
Did you used to own it by any chance?...

4. Hi folks.

Bought this when my amp blew up, used it for a months rehearsal and one gig, and thought i'd keep it and use it as a spare.

I had someone, a friend of a friend let me down on this, so i thought while i'm in selling mode, i may as well move it on.

An ideal little amp for rehearsal. Or small gigs. Sit's on top of most cabs hapilly, it ran my Goliath 3 at a push.

I'm up for offers.

Mint condition, no box, no manual (pdf is avaialable from Yamaha)...

Think they started out very expensive, and are now discontinnued.

Here's what Yamaha released it with.

Pics to follow soon.

"As the world’s first all digital bass amp, the BBT 500H offers a total of 11 vintage and modern amplifier sounds, built-in dynamics and amazing tone-shaping capability to suit any style of music in a powerful, compact package.
Weighing just 8.5 pounds, the BBT 500H delivers 500 Watts of power into 2 ohms (250 Watts into 4 ohms). The 5-band, frequency-variable tone controls, single-band, fully parametric EQ, compressor and programmable effects blend controls are easily accessible from the front panel. The BBT 500H also features a built-in effects loop, MIDI in/out, five user memory locations and a speaker simulator for additional versatility.
“The BBT 500H is a new concept in bass amplifiers,” states Joseph Brasler, marketing manager, Yamaha Corporation of America, Guitar Products. “It’s amazingly clean and powerful and ultra-light, and has the wide variety of vintage and modern bass amp sounds, effects and the versatile connectivity you’d expect from a revolutionary digital product from Yamaha.”

Connections include 1/4” line and balanced XLR outputs, two 1/4” speaker outputs, tuner outputs and a headphone jack for practicing. Lightweight, yet roadworthy construction makes the BBT 500H ideal for transporting to practice sessions and gigs.
Yamaha offers three speaker systems designed to complement the BBT 500H."

5. Hi folks, I know i'm probably entering a competition here, but if anyone sees or hears of a Jaydee for sale (higher spec than my Roadie 2A) please PM me, I am looking myself, but if you stumble upon one, please let me know.

6. ART do a D.i. Box, with a valve in it, called a TUBE MP V3...i think, and it has different voicings in it, one of which is 'Bass'.

Acts as a D.I. and a Valve Pre. They also have the cool VU meter on the front like the Ashdown gear. Under £100.

Behringer do the Mic 100, a cheap version of the above for about £40. Without voicing. But a nice thing to play with.

Both are versatile bits of kit. But would suit your needs. I know they've both been through patches of poor quality control, but i havent heard anything negative in the last year or so.

7. Just to reassure you, my shop sold one of these about 2 years ago used.

I nearly bought it Myself!

I think Musicman basically have a trademark/copyright on the 3+1 headstock and they gave Yamaha a bollocking accordingly.

Thussly, Yamaha changed to a 2+2.

I suppose it could be classed as a more recent 'Lawsuit'.

They are greatr passive basses though.

8. 250K Pots are usually used for single coil pickups.
500K Pots are usually used for Humbuckers.

As some veteran guitar shop worker once told me years ago.

I don't think it actually makes worlds off difference either way as long as the value are the same.

Linear and Logorythmic are the two Variants, Volumes are Lin Tones are Log. I think...

Electronics are not my strong point.

I don't know what relevance this serves..bedtime soon.

9. I did after a 'Jam Night' once, i'd played well enough. I had an idea in my head that I could be a scenster, just me and my bass, heading from jam to jam but i just decided I hated it, the scene, the scenesters and the try hards.

I had a really bad idea, that i thought was my future, and on the bus home, stoned and pissed, i got bogged down in it.

The next day, i stopped smoking weed and got on with life.

Now, i just wish my band would keep up with me.

I play at least 2 hours a day.

10. The Classic Vibe is made at a Factory in China...Because of where i work i can't say which factory as we stock both the Fender and are the principal dealer of the products of the originating factory of the Classic Vibe Stuff, Fender GBI get a nappy on if it gets mentioned - Even though it's nothing to do with anything, really.

The Vintage Modified is made by the Cort factory in Indonesia.

I love both of them. Just for my two penneth...

The VM 70's style uses a 'soft maple' body, which i can only assume is a fairly dense wood meaning the weight. I love the fact you could drop an East Preamp or some more expensive pickups into it and get a mega bass for not silly money.
I do however dislike the slightly peachy appearance of the last 10 or so i've seen, the first couple were closer to the yellowy ash colour.

The CV is the one for me, i love how they feel. I think the folks at Fender wanted to recapture the Magic of the JV series of the early 80's. Again, better pickups or a nice preamp may not be a bad idea.

The thing is, these basses have jumped in price over the last few months owing to Fender being a US company the dollar, the pound etc. But as the Pound recovers, i doubt Fender GBI will lower their prices, meaning they can reap a bit of extra dough in.

Keep eyes out for them used, as they are both a winner. I'd have both and the VM fretless too (another top bass).

11. The natural is great too, the Green/Blue burst is beautiful but i'm sure the red will be a winner.

I've just had a P.M. from a previous owner of my Jaydee regarding some history on my 71180!

There are rumours it started life as a Rodie 1, lived in the netherlands for a while and then came to Manchester Via Oxford (Wierdly, Johnny Roadhouse is on Oxford Road - Not quite a link of any weight)...

I hope this all tallies up, as i'd love to have the history on this new-to-me bass.

Any plans for another get together? Although it sounds like John and the chaps are up to their eyes in it!?
