National Resophonic M14 from 2014 and in excellent condition, with original hard case. There are a few small marks on the headstock, but otherwise nothing of note. I have had a strap peg fitted on the neck and had the nut lowered to suit my style. It plays great for fingerstyle and slide. Currently fitted with Newtone Michael Messer nickel 12-56 strings. £1,200. Would possibly be interested in a lower value resonator/archtop and cash. I have a box so can post. Cheers. Finally decided to sell my Bluetone Pro30m combo after realising I haven't turned it on for months. I play bass and acoustic mainly nowadays, so never get around to using it unfortunately. I love this amp, it does an amazing 60/70s Marshall tone in a home friendly format. It also can get loud enough to gig. Comes with an Orange amp cover that fits perfectly. I'm a big Paul Kossoff fan and this amp gets me his sound. It will be missed but I'm trying to thin down stuff that's not getting used. £150 collected from north Suffolk.

That's good to hear! You're not too far from me. Who did you get to set up your bass?

After a few weeks learning with the original strings it seems I actually like slapping as well so I've ordered some Innovation Silver Slaps. Hopefully I can get them fitted next week and the bass set up. I've also released that double bass is pretty addictive!

Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it. I think I'll get some Silver Slaps and go from there.
I would reckon you have Dominant E & A and Superflexible D & G
Thanks for the info. After a bit more playing I'm slowly getting used to them. I haven't played another double bass so have no reference of what low/high tension feels like on an upright.

Thanks for the great replies Marc. I guess the first thing to do is work out which strings are currently on it. Any idea what these may be: https://i.imgur.com/ICPJzhN.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tOoBYKq.jpg
Bilbo lives in Lowestoft, I believe. He's a jazz DB player. If you don't get any answers here. I'm sure he'll be pleased to point you in the right direction
Thanks.
I have Silver Slaps with medium action, and they work well for the musical styles you mention. The low tension makes them quite easy to play (compared to steels).
That's good to hear, thanks.

I'm looking to get my newly acquired (second-hand) double bass set up with some new strings to try and help with learning the instrument. I'm an absolute beginner and not really sure what would be best. I have found a local guy who sets up double basses and am now trying to decide on what strings would be best for me and how to ask for it to be set up. Currently the strings seem fairly high in tension and the action quite high. I'm hoping to play blues, bluegrass and jazz pizzicato, and would appreciate any advice on a good starting string/setup for this. I've done a bit of searching on here and Innovation Silver Slaps have caught my eye. They seem like a good string for my style, but I'm not sure if they are good for a low action. Is a low action even a good idea??? I would appreciate any guidance from experienced players. Cheers.

Marc bought my short scale Jazz. Very easy to deal with and highly recommended. Top man!

Although you have a dodgy Tanglewood, I would look at their Historic Sundance range too. Unbelievably good guitars for the money.

Up for sale is my 1998 Martin D-18 V in excellent condition. It is a custom version as it has an Adirondack top. It sounds incredible but I need a double bass and have to raise funds. It has an endpin jack where a soundhole pickup previously was connected. I had planned to fit a K & K pickup but have not bothered. There are no issues with the guitar and it plays like a dream. Currently fitted with D'addario 80/20 12-56 strings. Comes with original hardcase. £1,500. Collection from north Suffolk preferred but could probably post.
