  1. Offered £600 in shop trade in, so now £650 for a lucky bass chatter - including the 'free' Westone. Go go go!
  2. Cool - no worries, interestingly I couldn't find anyway that it's deffo 500w *RMS* at 8 ohms, so you MAY be okay - it says 'rated power' but naturally someone who knows those amps better may come along and be able to help further?
  3. I have no way of weigh them annoyingly but they are SUPER light - approx 18kg as that was the weight of the units with the old drivers in and these are lighter. Output wise the Eminence Deltalite 2515 II can handle 300wRMS Thanks!
  4. Haha, thanks Nik - I seem to have shifted so much gear your way in the past that I assumed it was you . Sorry to summon you erroneously! Cheers mate, James
  5. Hi all, As per my other thread, I'm 'parking' my bass activities for a while. It took me a while to build this rig but I'm so glad I did - and I guarantee you will be too. AMP HEAD: Ashdown ABM Evo 2 500w Head - this has had all the output filter caps replaced by fixmyamp at a cost of £150 and has a warranty on that repair. It sounds MASSIVE CABS: QTX Cabs with Eminence Deltalite 2515 II speakers - crazy light but sound huge - the cabs are a great match for the speakers and it just 'works' with super-lows and really punchy, tight sounding mids and excellent highs. These speakers are amazing and cost £260 for the pair, less than 2 months old! Come and collect from Worcester! P.S. I'm 99% sure I sold a similar setup (cab-wise) to @silverfoxnik a few years ago with these model of speakers so he can (hopefully!) vouch for the quality of the tone and volume you can get out of them. (Nik, apologies if I've remembered!) Thanks, James
  6. Further to my edit, the buyer now gets my backup bass absolutely free Going to jack it in for a while whilst my nerves recover!
  7. Lovely bass. Good luck with the sale!
  8. So I just got this (see New Bass Day thread) at a bargain price and never got the chance to gig it, now the band has folded. ARGH! PLEASE give it a good home! It's an Elwood L (so chambered) with Delano pickups and Glockenklang EQ - comes with the gig bag and the case candy. Beautiful light weight and perfect balance, it's literally my perfect jazz. Pickup from Worcester preferred but I may be able to post at your cost/risk. UPDATE 28th April - I'm feeling quite down about the whole band thing and getting fed up of it all. As a result the buyer of the above is welcome to my backup bass too - a Westone Thunder 1A - it's been used, abused and butchered but it's a fun ol' thing that has had the active preamp bypassed, neck repaired and looks like it's been dragged behind a car for the length of the M25 - take it, use it, sell it, destroy small towns with it, whatever but I'm taking a break from bass for a while until I want to pick it back up again!
  9. I have one of these on route to me, does the Vinegar trick really work? My bridge looks rough as too!
  10. SO chuffed! I was the only bidder and won a Maruszczyk Elwood L 4A and picked it up this afternoon. Couldn't be happier! Super lightweight but perfect balance, insanely good build quality, Delano pickups, Glockenklang preamp and in a gorgeous natural finish that feels fab. All for under £600? Very happy with that! Came with the case and all the candy including a set of strings too. Pics to follow in the morning. Can't wait to crank it through my gigging rig - first low volume noodlings are very promising indeed. Cheers, James
  11. I have a recollection that Mark mentioned he was going on holiday when I was in the shop a week or so ago. Might be worth a call to check?
  12. Hi all, Can anyone recommend a Luthier to Refret a Jazz Neck (Laurel fingerboard) with stainless steel frets? Ideally one that is happy for me to ship the neck only and with a nice quick turnaround? Thanks in advance, James
  13. I think you're right Paul - so it must be I'm interpreting ACTUAL string tension as something else. Hmmm.
  14. Just curious really ... I know how to do a basic set up on my basses, get a good action and ensure that they play in tune however there is always a HUGE difference when I play a bass that has had a good pro setup. This is felt most noticeably in the string tension feeling reduced/decreased - is that actually possible or is it confirmation bias because it's been blessed with magic from a 'pro'? I'm curious to know which part of the setup process is likely to be responsible for this as I'd like to replicate it on a Jazz that feels 'stiff' (for the lack of a better word!) Thanks in advance for any pearls of wisdom!
