  1. Now just £200! I bought this and one of the original speakers had blown, it's now rocking two Celestion BN10-300X neo speakers (8 ohm each) so a 4 ohm load. I was staggered at how good this sounds with the speaker upgrade. Horn is long gone and has been bypassed and the 'crossover' removed so the 10" are fully range. This is a hugely gutsy, massive sounding cab that is a very easy lift and just sounds mega. The trolley is only in shot as I'm lazy...it's dead light! Collection from Worcester.
  2. Amazing amps - hugely powerful and just have THAT tone (dare I say 'heft') in spades. The 'volume' knob is slightly stiff at one point in its travel but doesnt bother me as it's set and forget given you have a master volume. Comes with weirdo gig bag thing! Collection welcome from Worcester
  3. Elf? Good! Super 12T? Good! Elf+Super12T? Oh yeah! Do it.
  4. Oh and my advice? Learn on a five string. I wish I had and since I’ve made the move I have not looked back, it’s so much more flexible and going lower than the E really does feel good at gig volumes!
  5. Do you have the facility to record what’s happening? I think we’d be able to advise as to whether it’s a technical fault with the bass or a technique problem?
  6. Got this with me in Cornwall today and tomorrow if anyone in the South West wants it
  7. I was a bit the same, but essentially the sounds are Helix, and the interface simpler - both very good things in my book!
  8. To throw this into the mix. I was all set to buy the HX Stomp and a shop suggested I try the (cheaper) Pod Go. I’m VERY impressed. Initially I hated it and was ready to send it back, but some tweaking of a few key settings (main one being turning off the bloody gate) and I’m really pleased!
  9. Well, my view is they do EXACTLY what they say on the tin - the question is do you like what they say on the tin? I've got a Super 12 T (although I'm moving it on) and have owned the Compact and Big Twin in the past. They are VERY transparent sounding cabs, that may be a good thing or a bad thing in your view - what they don't do is colour the sound significantly, and they can reveal elements of your tone that you may then wish to address - in my case I end up doing a LOT of sculpting in the mids to get a tone I like. They are also stupidly lightweight, but that does come at the cost of SOME of the ruggedness that 'old school' cabs can put up with on the road. Try one if you can but if you like the sound of what I'm saying above, my advise is to buy second hand - that way you can move it on if it's not your cuppa tea and not worry about losing £££
  10. If someone grabs this today and I can deliver (as above) or you can collect, it’s yours for £685. £685! I must be stark raving cray-zaaaaay!
  11. If anyone in Bristol, Devon, Somerset, Cornwall wants this I am heading down that way tomorrow!
  12. It’s highly likely I’ll be there on Friday if that’s any help?

  14. Thanks all - this is really interesting reading. So: - can one buy crossovers for this purpose or are they a case of buying the components? - if one is used, does the amp ‘see’ the crossover (impedance wise) or the speakers connected to it? Thanks, James
  15. I have an old 12” cab (8 ohm speaker) and would like to add a tweeter to it. I don’t want to bring the overall impedance lower than 8 ohms - is there a tweeter that can be wired inline that won’t affect what the amp ‘sees’? Thanks in advance
  16. Good overall condition with just a bit of grille cloth sag and the odd small mark to the tolex! Sounds huge - these have a fantastic reputation for a very good reason and are a totally different prospect to the rest of the range. Would PX for a 1x12” with cash my way! £250 collected from Worcester area
  17. Spotted something I rather like so a cheeky offer to get it done this weekend may be considered!
  18. Now this is rather special! Few of these were made, imported by a company called ‘RMI’ and badged ‘Retrocat’. It’s WONDERFULLY light, has an incredibly thin neck and balances great. The playability is top notch and the sound is classic P/J combo from the passive Wilkinson pickups. I’d say there was room to squeeze an active pre in there if you wanted but I never got the urge as the bass did all I need and much more. I can’t stress it enough, the build is spectacularly good - that neck fit (always the sign of a well made instrument) is absolutely top notch. Only for sale as I’ve gone 100% 5 string and find swapping back and forth a challenge.
  19. To say these things are light and loud is one heck of an understatement! 2 x 12” - 4 Ohm and a variable tweeter too! Good condition - note I have replaced two of the handles as they had cracked (replaced with metal ones - much better) and I have touched in some of the marks with a bottle of Tuff Cab paint (which I will include). Probably collection only but I do get around a bit so talk to me and we’ll see what we can work out.
  20. I had SVX for v4 but it wants me to re-buy for v5? Am I doing something wrong or is that expected behaviour?
  21. This thread makes me want an 605 NE1. Fact.
