You will see that this has seen some wear - It was made in 1983 - I bought it on here from a guy in Belgium two years ago, probs overpriced, but there you go - but the key thing is that it sounds amazing. The pick ups are so individual, IMO, and refreshing from the clone sounds we hear so often. There's fret wear, the E,D and G tuning keys have taken a knock at some point altho that doesn't affect the tuning, it's checked and crazed and chipped all over, there are chippings on the bridge and the control panel, and even though it's been set up professionally there's a buzz right at the top of the board, around 20th and 21st fret (does anyone actually play up there?!!), altho the neck is in pretty good shape and the truss rod seems to hold its own. BUT, the good points - Like I said, the sound of the MFD pups are throaty as hell and loud and rock up but also sound great for slap It intonates very well The maple neck is a waxed oily job and very sweet to handle And most of all, these basses are rare and from a unique time when Leo created "his best basses ever" PICS BELOW Edited: cos I couldnt work the new format!!! Can now

Sandbergs - Tell me about them please - Cali JM4 / PM4
Jigster replied to xilddx's topic in Bass Guitars
I had a JM4 - lovely thing, sold on here for about £750 last year. Don't know if it's been mentioned yet in this post but of course, unless things are changing like VERY rapidly, Sandbergs are handmade - I loved mine, but the Delano P'ups were a little anondyne (IMO) Great great neck and fretwork -
good strap and yr cool
-
oh yeah price - I got mine on e-bay for £180
-
it's like the Roadster I have - does a great JJ Stranglers break up - but sounds more jazz like to me, v punchy
Andy Baxter has one similar to yours for £750 He is a dealer but his prices i think are pretty fair Here you go:- http://andybaxterbass.com/details.php?id=168
thanks I saw that - it's been on there a while though, which got me thinking in the first place if it was too high

Not sure where to start with this really in terms of pricing, but thinking it will go up for sale shorty. Anyone who looks at the pics on the Flickr link will see that it's seen some wear - It was made in 1983 - I bought it on here from a guy in Belgium two years ago, probs overpriced, but there you go - but the key thing is that it sounds amazing. The pick ups are so individual, IMO, and refreshing from the clone sounds we hear so often. BUT, what do you responsibly charge for something like this - there's fret wear, the E,D and G tuning keys have taken a knock at some point altho that doesn't affect the tuning, it's checked and crazed and chipped all over, there are chippings on the bridge and the control panel, and even though it's been set up professionally there's a buzz right at the top of the board, around 20th and 21st fret (does anyone actually play up there?!!), altho the neck is in pretty good shape and the truss rod seems to hold its own. BUT, the good points - Like I said, the sound of the MFD p'ups are throaty as hell and loud and rock up but also sound great for slap It intonates very well The maple neck is a waxed oily job and sweet to handle And most of all, these basses are rare and from a unique time when Leo created "his best basses ever" Any ideas on realistic price - kind to the buyer and worthwhile for me - would be appreciated. Bought this from fellow BCer Andy Travis for the same price as listed now. This is NOT from the Squier range of basses currently on the market in the £200-£300 range. Good as they are, this is a top quality bass from a different era altogether. Made In Japan. Has some war marks, but nothing untowards for a 1983 bass. The SQ series is not as rare as the JV series, I believe, but nevertheless comes from the early 80's when Squier were creating top top quality basses stamped Made In Japan, and easily equal to anything from Fender. These aren't easy to come across. This one plays beautifully with a sweet fast fretboard and that great combo between P and J pick ups. There have been some mods made by Andy: - the original white p/gard was replaced by a Fender tortie as in the pics. (White one is included in the sale) - the p/up cover is added - and a Badass bridge The J pick up was added by the person Andy bought from and is from "vintage stock', but I know little more than that. Suffice to say, it sounds great. Andy's original post is here: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...;hl=squier+1983 Can meet within reasonable distance for petrol money. Payment by bank transfer, or Paypal but fees must be covered by purchaser. Please check my feedback, I've sold on here before and you can buy with confidence.

This was posted on my Facebook page and thought might as well share it here. STOLEN GUITAR! Simon Reid from Guitar Guitar had his guitar stolen from his car in Leith last night 3rd August. It is a rare, USA VG Strat in Sunburst. This is a very unusual guitar. Could you guys please CUT AND PASTE this post. Spread the word amongst your musical buddies!
