1. They are 'new' it seems.....zero feedback, but some good prices on some bits and pieces http://stores.ebay.co.uk/bassguitarpartsdirectuk Si
2. I love the line and the feel of the tune, but the song didn't hold my attention for long! Although I will say that I love it when a live band really nails 'programmed' sounds!! Si
3. A homemade piece of crap? no help....but hey....thats what it looks like lol Si
4. Really good fun actually! Just Reading O'Neills, but there was a lot of vibe onstage, I had a great tone onstage, crowd were up for it! Cracking! Si

Zoot cabs

I really would like to hear some comparisons or views of the Schroeder 410 and the Zoot 410 Si
6. No, 3 screw neck joints came in mid '74 And is it me, but is the A tuner lower than the others? lol Si
7. What you've done there is use the word "properly" very wrongly Si
8. If you anchor your thumb on the pickup and play the E string, you're probably bringing your plucking finger back to rest on your thumb. So when you play the A string, bring your plucking finger back to rest on the E string, and so on! Rest strokes can be used separately to 'wandering/floating thumb', but they obviously go hand-in-hand Si p.s. In case it wasn't that obvious, this is a fingerstyle technique
9. Typically I'm gigging, Have a good'n! Si
10. Yeah, It's all about muting with both hands! Si
11. Wow, this has been a fair time coming, but I think we're just about getting there! Here's some pictures of the refinished body: You may notice a couple of issues, there's a slight discrepancy in the paint on the top horn, so it needs to be 'stripped back a little, repainted...' and blah blah blah.....I'm such a woodworking 'tard! lol The other, slightly larger, mistake is that I asked the person undertaking the refinish to fill in the 4 small screw holes surrounding the rear pickup, so obviously he's filled in the pickup screws holes within the rout haha, so they need to be re-routed. He says no problem with that! Oh and here's the revised neck spec: Flame maple neck with birdseye maple fingerboard, Black side dots only Truss rod adjustment headstock end 34" scale with 22 frets Typical Jazz bass rear & fingerboard radius I also got went a bit geeky the other day and photoshopped what the bass might look like when finished: Everything is purchased now except the pickups and scratchplate, so if anyone has some DiMarzio UltraJazzes and a Black scratchplate hanging about, help a brudder out! Just to re-cap, the idea of this particular project is to build a passive solution for my originals band First Signs Of Frost, the material is fairly 'hi-gain' and the DiMarzios are the highest output passive pickup I can find. The bass will be tuned C, F, Bb, Eb. The bass currently filling the void for this band is my butchered OLP 'ThingRay' with Barts & 2 band 18v East pre. Updates soon! Si

14.
I used a 410L with the ABM for a while. The bigger Schroeders don't have the mid hump of the 1212 and 1210 and are more of an even sounding cab but are still a good match with the Ashdown. It's a great single cab setup
Thanks for that mate! Oh and I just wanted to say that I didn't think that the Ampeg I had sounded bad, I liked the tone.......just thought the Ashdown was a step up is all Si
15. Yes, rest strokes and 'wandering thumb' for me! It helps towards muting and keeping all the notes you play nice and clear! I used to think and play like you actually, rest strokes being weird, but once you have them down, you will find that you play a lot more evenly, stronger & faster than the way you're going now, because your fingers have a point of reference for each attack. And with regards to wandering thumb, if you look at the shape of your hand as you play each string while your thumb is anchored to the pickup, it changes, its almost like 4 different techniques. Whereas if you change the position of where you rest your thumb based on what string you're playing, you keep the hand shape similar to when you're playing the low E. So although it seems like more work, you're actually making life easier in the long run! Si
16. I'm a long time advocate of Ashdown, never had a bad tone from mine regardless of what bass I put through it! It does make me wonder what other people are hearing, wouldn't ever call my sound Wooly! I use a 4x8 cab along with a 1x15 sometimes. Although I am kinda on the lookout for a one cab lightweight solution, and the 4ohm Schroeder 410 keeps catching my eye, so it's nice to hear that someone thinks they match the EVO heads well! Si p.s. As it happens my Ashdown rig superseded an Ampeg rig also, consisted of a B2R, a 2x10 HE & a 1x15 H. Smaller, lighter (although not neo), louder to my ears, more pleasing tone etc etc
17. I'd be there date pending! Reading is a preference for me because it's closer, but whatever suits! Si
18. Was just comparing the frequency responses of the Schroeder 410 and the Zoot 410: Schroeder: 40hz-18khz Zoot: 38Hz - 5Khz I know that the Zoot is 6-7 lbs lighter and about £200 cheaper (new), but sound wise what do we think? Cheers Si
19. Wow, nice to see one of these in good condition! My poor little 4x8 has seen a lot of action lol, still working perfectly though! Great cabs! Si
20.
If you're an unsecured creditor of Sound Control (which is what you are if you've paid a deposit for an item or paid in full for an item that you haven't received), you've lost your money for good.
Are you sure? Shouldn't you be able to contact whoever is handling the Administration and request a 'Proof Of Debt' form!? Si
