1. How easy is it for this beast to get gritty? I've always heard good things about these, but I always got the impression they have a transparent clean tone.
2. Hmm, interesting. Whats the tone like? I'm looking for something gritty, and I know it has a tube drive feature, but I still get the feeling its a pretty clean amp?
3. Anyone played on one of these? The specs make it sound quite good, but no where round here will get one in unless I order it myself, which I don't wanna do without playing it first. Would be nice to get some opinions before I start trying to track one down to test it out for myself
4. Exactly the same as far as I know, apart from it being American made and looking a bit more 90s haha.
5. Don't think the voicing of Marshall amps is really my thing, sorry dude!
6. Thought there'd be more interest in this, I thought £500 was a pretty sweet deal! haha.
7. I've lowered the price to £500. No offers lower than this please, as its the lowest I can afford to go. Thanks!
8. I'm planning on going all valve, so unfortunately my beloved SVT IV has to go to fund it. If you're reading this, you probably know what to expect. This thing really sounds awesome, and its definitely the best hybrid Ampeg head in my opinion. Anyway, this is the american made older model, which are aparently better made than the newer LOUD models, but I've never actually played the newer ones to compare it too. I've also recently replaced the pre-amp tubes. The fan is a little on the loud side, but nothing major as I've used it to record with before and it was fine, and one of the power amps takes around a minute to kick in after switching it on, but after that the amp runs perfectly. I'm looking for no less than £500, and as far as trades go, I'm looking for an SVT-CL or SVT-2 (with money your way obviously), but I'd consider any valve or maybe even a high end hybrid head. Cheers guys, Dave Hope Coasterbass doesn't mind me using his picture until one of my own up! haha.
9.
Hi mate, What sort of trade are you looking for? Cheers Rik
Any valve overdrive pedal, or decent quality compressor really, but I'd rather sell for cash in all honesty Dave
10. Personally I always prefered the RPM, due to the mid shift features. I found it helped me cut through the mix more than the RPI, but they're essentially the same. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=91763 I also happen to be selling an RPM. If you decide you want one, drop me a PM Dave
11. How much would the SVP 1500 seperately be?
12. Is your friend looking for a trade at all or just cash?
13. Thanks for the quick replies guys! I'll have to check out those tubes, Dood, they aren't too prices either.
14. Hey guys, My SVP-pro has the common hum/hiss problems that SVPs are notorious for having. I was wondering on what tube combination people have had luck with on eliminating this problem with? I'd love to start using it in my main set up, but its just too noisey at the moment! Cheers guys.
15. Nice choice of song! I love Dillinger. The new album is sweet if you haven't checked it out already. Do you have guitar pro? I've found a tab, it isn't amazing but it should give you a pretty good starting point. http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/d/dill..._guitar_pro.htm If you don't have guitapro, you can get the trial here; http://www.guitar-pro.com/
16. Cheers for the replies guys. I've borrowed another head and cab from a mate, and its definitely the amp thats gone (still smells of burning electrics), which is definitely the worse out of the two. What makes this situation difficult is that he's a friend of a friend, which is why I let him borrow my cab in the first place, and it was obviously just a forgetful accident whilst being rushed, because he knows what he's doing in terms of equipment. He's a decent guy, I've been told by someone else he's having money problems, but he's said he's going to help out as much as he can, and I believe him.
17. Yeah this is definitely the last time I agree to letting anyone use my stuff without agreeing with the promoter before hand to cover the cost of damages, if they occur. Of course I want him to pay for all of the repair costs, but in reality, he doesn't have to pay me anything, and there isn't really much I can do it about it, other than rely on him having the decency on fixing something that was completely his fault. He's also a friend of friends, so I'm hoping they'll have a word too.
18. I played a gig last night, where I let all the bands on the bill use my cab. The first band also used my head, which wasn't a problem. The next band used their own head (one of the new Orange bass terrors). Whilst they were playing, I noticed there was no sounding coming from the cab, only through the DI into the PA. When it came to us playing, I saw that he left my head plugged into the cab whilst his head was too! I couldn't get any sound to come out of my cab, other than a weird pop on the E and B strings, but it was coming out fine through the DI. I was just wondering if this would've caused something in my head, which I'm guessing is the most likely, or the cab? I don't have another head or cab to test out either. Either way, I'm hoping he's going to be decent enough to cover at least some of the costs, although he didn't seem to keen on the idea at the time! Cheers guys.
19. Is the SVP still for sale?
20. Pretentious tapping shot! haha.
21. The only video of my playing is on my band's music video. Opinions would be appreciated! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=APvdAyZBXMk
