  1. I have this problem with my TE Transit B.
  2. The ZOOM B1 four is worth checking out. Plenty of effect and amp models plus a tuner and drum patters to play along too.
  3. Thank you all for the great advice. I think I will sit back and enjoy my old Ampeg B100R ( an older USA build) and Trace transit b preamp. If a Trace combo comes up locally (and they do from time to time ) I may check it out. Are the vinyl covered amps better than the carpet covered ones?
  4. ,,,,,,and I thought my 65 pound Ampeg combo was too heavy!
  5. I have a chance of buying an old Trace Elliot combo. It is a 1 x 15 with 2 ports on the front, 7 band graphic. This is carpet covered not vinyl. Made in the UK with some red detailing on the front. It is said to be in excellent condition. The seller is asking £250 plus courier costs. Should I go for it or not?
  6. Great basses. I have one in Dark cherry. Total beast!
  7. Yes, this was the one I was looking at. I had a idea of stacking it on top of my Ampeg B100R combo with effects through the Cub in a sort of biamped set up if I ever gigged with it.
  8. Are there any PJB amp users on this forum? I am looking for a small amp for mainly home use and the size of these amps seems great. Looks like some of the combos could be tucked away out of sight and moved from room to room rather easily. Just how good do they sound at low volume levels? Would they handle my active 5 string without breakup?
  9. Great! The first album I bought was Thin Lizzy Live and Dangerous. Happy memories.
  10. I decided on the Transit B. Just had a quick try out and it is pretty awesome......sounds huge!
  11. I recently bought the Elwood l5a special. Lovely bass. You won't go wrong buying the Jake.
  12. I would just get get another used GT6B, plenty of them around for reasonable prices.
  13. Is anyone using any Darkglass pedal for a clean sound?........just wondering if it is worth the cost or should I just get a Trace Elliot Transit B? ........... whenever they become available again.

    MXR 281 Thump?

Has anyone tried the MXR 281 Thump preamp pedal? Looks promising but I can't find a review of it apart from the biased owner reviews (all good though). Thinking of asking Santa for one. (If I keep off his naughty list)!
  15. Nice to see the new Bass Matt. Just loving the one you sold me last week, dynamite!
  16. Any suggestions for a nice preamp pedal that gives a great versatile clean sound, programmable would be nice but single channel will suffice. I have been looking at the MXR Thump and the new BOSS 10 band prog pedal plus the BOSS GEB 7. Also, the Trace Elliot transit B looks almost the one for me.

    HI.

Hi every one. I am an hobby musician coming from a 6 string background with a few years previous bass experience (a long time ago)! As I am am getting older I have found that progressive arthritis is making it rather difficult for me to carry on playing my 6 string electrics so I have decided to take the plunge and sell them on replacing them with some nice bass gear. I have managed so far to score myself a gigged Warwick corvette fretless (German), a Maruszczyk Elwood l5a special and a Spector Euro 4lx. Amp wise I have a USA built Amp b100r. Having a great time getting back in to bass playing.
  18. Someone local to me is selling a 2004 Japanese Fender Jazz bass 70s style. 3 bolt neck, lake placid blue with matching headstock rosewood board with rectangular inlay and binding for £850 in ex condition. Just how good are they and is the price a good deal?
  19. I have the chance of a Bongo 4 HH in satin black. The seller is asking £1650, is this a fair price for one in good condition or should I try to haggle it down a little?
