My band Orange Street have supported ska legends The Beat, Bad Manners, Neville Staple (the Specials) and The Selecter. The Specials Lynval Golding sang Little Bitch on stage with us and the guitarist Roddy Radiation is joining us for a gig in Coventry next month. I played in a jazz funk band with Nik Kershaw before he hit the big time, played with Gordon Haskell and just finished 80's pop diva Yazz's new album. I believe that the mains fuse in Eden amps is AFTER the on/off switch and power light so if this blows, the amp appears to be on but won't make any noise. Might be worth taking a look....

Another Overwater and Comfor Strapp user here, slightly favouring the Overwater. I use the rubber seals from Grolsch lager bottles to secure them, cheap as chips and totally reliable.

I bought my Markbass rig from the shop direct and, although the Markbass distributor lied about the availability of a 4 Ohm cab, Gak moved heaven and earth to get one into the country before I went on tour. The couldn't have worked any harder AND they matched Thomann's price!!! Full marks Gak.

I fully agree with the previous comments regarding enjoying yourself and giving your all in whatever scenario you're playing in. If you're comfortable in your musical surroundings then you're good enough. As a working studio and live bassist, 2 things have been important to me above any other. 1. Recognition and appreciation of different genres of music. 2. The ability to play clean and reliably first time. I've NEVER been asked to solo like Pattitucci or Wooten but I often get told to play, say, 2-step, bluegrass or reggae. In the studio, time is money. You often have time pressures so getting it right, quickly, is paramount. Being able to come up with a line or groove in a certain style is crucial but 1000 notes per bar is not. Backing artists live, requires precision, accuracy and reliability, reproducing lines from records with little or no room for embelishments or improvisation. So for me, 'good enough' means reliable, flexible and capable in any style. None of these skills require Grade 8 theory, the ability to solo in any mode or slap Teen Town at 120bpm.

The 4 strings are Japanese whilst the 5's are American.

Overwater stainless on the Ow's, DR's on the Fender MM DR's are good but die too quickly, OW's are fantastic straight from the pack and are the longest lasting string I've ever used.
