Have you tried Sandberg direct with your serial number?
2 weeks ago, no reply.

Anybody know if the open pore Matt finish is nitro? My search for an answer has failed, due to being more Clouseau than Holmes.
-
I'd love to get @bagsieblue 's one but need to sell something 1st. These look great & I've never played a bad Sandberg.
Congratulations on your NBD 😁

Further PM's replied thanks folks.
Still currently here 🙂

All PM's replied thanks.
£750 is the cash price, trade value is £850.
A lot less than a new one.

Trades?
Unlikely.
However, I'm weak, a sunburst road worn jazz, American Special Precision or a Flea Shell Pink would easily sway me.

The finish is quite similar to the Fender limited run sand blasted. The "marks" on the back are part of the Ash grain.
40mm nut, rotaries are Vol (push/pull active passive) treble cut or boost (acts as tone control in passive) bass cut or boost.
New D'Addario nickel 40-100, new battery, new set up.
It seems open pore finish is no longer available on this model. It would cost a minimum of £1250 with standard finish & gigbag.
SUPER condition, very versatile for a P type, feedback available.
£750 in hardcase collected from Darlington, or organise & pay for your own courier.
Keep safe,
Karl.

@Alfie Noakes Phil, close enough to a US Geddy?

But tbf you could easily to do the same with a drive pedal of your choice and potentially even quicker i.e. no adjustments on the amp and just engage the pedal.
With an amp with built in drive / grit there's always the risk that it doesn't deliver exactly what you're always after in terms of grit (certainly can be true for the DG M900 series) but seems to me that OBT does as well as most, and you still always have the pedal option to bring to the party.
I don't use any pedals, the amp & basses do all I need.
I've done (like many weekend warriors) over 1000 gigs in 40+ years, nowadays I just want simple.
As long as it sounds like a bass most punters don't notice me 😁

I'm guessing you gents both had the Mesa D800, rather than the D800+?
Yes.
Different folk, different requirements.
I did 2 gigs with a new band the weekend before lockdown.
The Mesa was trouser flapping good with a clean sound, but that was it. I really couldn't get that gnarly bit of fuzz going on for some of the numbers.
OBT, click the switch, drop the bass volume a tad. A second to do.
-
OBT 2 can do JPJ to Lemmy with a bit twiddling on rotaries and a switch, passive basses, no effects.
Versatile enough for a cover band doing from Jackie Wilson to Greenday. And wonderful punch!
Edit. Much more versatile than my Mesa Subway was (don't seem to be able to change my signature nowadays).

I bought a blue Gibbo with white plate from Lancaster in the late 90's. Didn't like the scale, D neck profile or sitting down with it. Sounded TBird. Sold it for £350. Oops, hindsight. 🤣

Dunno if it's still available

Sorry Karl

Yeah, typically I'd bit the bullet on a new Boxer Jazz Bass Special, Sherwood Green Metallic just a few days before.

Joe bought a bass off me.
Very decisive & made it really easy which is a bit of a trick in current circumstances.
Been an absolute pleasure, enjoy that thunderstick of a bass.
Fully recommended as a scholar, acrobat & gent of the highest order,
cheers Joe 😁

I knew you'd put this bugger up (saw you mention it in another thread) as soon as I bought something else 🤣
Seriously though I think this particular version, rather than the other two, WILL become very sought after in a few years.
Gorgeous, good luck

Really just what I wrote 4 or 5 posts back Nick, ticks so many personal boxes.

That is awesome!!! Trying to do a lefty similar to this via self-assembly, but the supplier didn't send me a black neck. Gutted, but just means I need to buy a status neck now, surely?!
Yup 😁
These aren't like the '84/87 with black painted necks, they are the same as the '87/92 with satin necks.
